  1. Yes, we are working on adding CCS order tracking to the member/dealer sites.
  2. We would note that there was writing on the first page, but not necessarily what was written if it was not significant or legible.
  3. If you are planning on or trying to register books that were submitted at MegaCon please read this note. Whenever CGC offers On-Site grading at a show, the books are not "shipped" out of the system until about a week after the convention ends. This is so that we can ensure that all comics were picked up properly and any remaining orders can be shipped to the submitters. If you try to register any comics from On-Site during this time you will receive the message that "The certification number you specified was not found in our cert database." This will be resolved as soon as the books can be "shipped" out of the system. Thank you for your patience and understanding with this process. If you have any additional questions or concerns please feel free to contact me. To see old comments for this Journal entry, click here. New comments can be added below.
  4. You just have to sign up on the Collectors Society for a free membership (if you are not a member already). The journals are posted there, but there is a link at the bottom to "share" them on the Chat Boards using your Username and Password for this site.
  5. Since you are a paid member, if you log into the CGC website using the e-mail and password you provided when you joined, you will be re-directed to your Member Homepage which has links for both the PDF submission form and the online step-by-step submission form.
  6. There is not a time limit, but all books are inspected prior to re-encapsulation and if any damage is noticed then the book will be considered for a regrade.
  7. Either your membership number was not on the paperwork or you joined after the submission was made, so they cannot be tracked online. You will have to call or e-mail customer service for updates.
  8. These have been updated. Anytime there is a suggestion to add any appearances or information to the label we just ask that you contact the graders, either by phone or e-mail to make that request. Not all requested additions are approved, but if they are reasonable we normally will agree to add it to the label.
  9. You can only track the progress online if you are already a paid member at the time of submission (or join when making the submission) and also list your membership number at the top of the form. All other submissions must be tracked using the invoice number and either calling or e-mailing customer service for updates.
  10. No, the declared value and insurance value are one and the same for our purposes.
  11. 1985 is our current cut-off year for Pedigrees. Any newer comics will not receive a pedigree designation.

  13. As of January 1, 2012 our pricing structure has changed. Now WalkThru is a Minimum charge of $150 or a Maximum charge of $3000 otherwise calculated at 3% of the declared FMV. So if you have a book that is extremely valuable (say a $1M book) then you would only pay $3000 to have it graded, or if you have a less valuable book (say a $1000 book) you would still pay $150 to have it graded in the same day (not $30). I hope this helps clear things up for you.
  14. There shouldn't be any undue custom fees as we ship using Fed Ex Priority and most of the fees are supposed to be built into that cost, but it may be a helpful additional step if you want to include the form along with your comics for the return shipment. It would be best to consult with your local Customs office to find out your best course of action in this situation.
  15. Does the 10% discount apply if I fill out a signature submission form? Does the discount also apply to on-site grading? There is no discount for on-site grading or for Signature Series by using the online form.
  16. A copy of the form will be e-mailed to the address you provide. You can print this out at a later time, but will need to manually write your credit card information (if that is the method of payment) as it is obscured for security purposes.
  17. Just finished re-reading Dune (read it in high school, waiting for my mom to ship me the rest of the series since I read them all back then) and am now reading All Shall Be Well by Deborah Crombie, which I picked up due to the Gemma James character, but I find I really like them and they're quick reads (good for traveling).
  18. As long as your comics are properly bagged (or mylared) and boarded we will be able to handle all of the packing and materials for packing on your behalf.
  19. If a grader is available they may be able to review the comic in the case somewhat, but it is best to call the office beforehand and inquire about the graders notes and the potential for a review. If the book is a good candidate for review then you should bring it to the convention still in its case in order to prevent any damage.
  20. You can only use the coupon with CGC for the Collectors Society Express tier and not for Signature Series.
  21. You do not need to be a member to submit comics at a convention. However, if you fill out the submission forms in advance online (either through Collectors Society or one of our internet Affiliates) you will receive the 10% discount on your grading fees.
  22. We would need to remove the comic from the polybag in order to assess its condition and grade the book. The book will then be encapsulated and the polybag will be returned along with the encapsulated comic. (in most cases, we try our best) The polybag will not be encapsulated. We ask that you do note that the comics may be removed from the polybag for the purpose of grading on your submission form.
