  1. Found in the wild today. These aren't a category of magazine I'm terribly interested in in general, but I figured I should have one as a type sample and this looked like a pretty solid example of the type:
  2. I don't think it's actually much rarer than any other of the big eight, and its increased fame the past few years has probably brought a bigger number to light than the other seven. It's still pretty scarce, but I don't think it's on its own unique level like we used to believe.
  3. I wouldn’t call it fishy, personally. It was a stunning copy. I’m quite prepared to call it an outlier until we see what the next few sales of the issue are, though.
  4. I was trying to post less often seen examples.
  5. And, not really any confusion, but it's too fun a pair not to include if I'm starting this thread:
  6. Then a pair of Vampire Tales that just drove me nuts going "Don't I already have that one?"
  7. Not sure if there's much interest in this; but I was looking at my collection and realizing that certain covers seem to resemble one another. Not particularly interested in exactly reprinted covers, just ones that look similar and make you go "do I have that issue or not?" Starting with a pair from Vampirella where the difference is obvious looking at both of them, but if you're going from memory they blend together:
  8. I’m quite happy I grabbed a copy late last year before it hit the news again.
  9. My speculation would be there was some contractual issue between T&P and the newsdealers that prevented an unilateral price increase, so it was briefly approved by someone talking to marvel and rapidly rescinded once the issue became apparent.
  10. Today’s “I haven’t seen these in the wild in ages” pickup at a local comic shop
  11. I love the rebound crazy thick pulps; even if I don't have any of the Clever Stories version...
  12. Found at a local store today. Not high grade, but at under $10 each I'm more than happy. They had the June issue as well but I've already got that in a box somewhere...
  13. Found at a local store today. I'll never read it but what a spectacular cover!
  14. Found in a dollar bin today. I think this was the last of the Bojeffries Saga stories I didn't have in the original comic.
  15. It's not me, it's the sellers hoarding them and charging premium prices!
  16. My collecting habits on Vampi other than the Warrens are very much down to either the creative team or, occasionally, a bonkers concept. When I changed my LCS because the owner of my old one retired, I actually mentioned at the new one that having 3 Vampi titles on my pull list was very unusual for me... but I wanted the Linsner Roses for the Dead series, I wanted the Christopher Priest written series, and I wanted Vampirella/ Red Sonja/ Betty/ Veronica because it was way too bonkers NOT to pick up. I also grabbed the Grant Morrison run back in the day, and will get neat covers now and then. The level on talent on Vampirella over the years has really been pretty incredible.
  17. They're scattered throughout the run; oddly enough I'm missing most of the issues ending in "3". I should upgrade my 13, and I'm missing 43, 53, 63, 83, 93, and 103. (The only other issues I'm missing from 39-103 inclusive are 52 and 58.)
  18. A photo instead of a scan, to see if it shows better:
  19. Found at my LCS today. I can find multiple references to copies with zero foil, but I can't find any mention of a copy with offset foil like this one. Anybody ever see one like this or know anything about it?
  20. The Funny Aminal story was reprinted in Marvel's Comix Book 2 a couple years after its original appearance; if anybody wants to track the story down to see it that would be much easier to find and afford in my experience.
  21. Sorry, not a lot of interesting stuff to share; I just stumbled across the question at the right time. Here's a link to DCM so anybody interested can read the story, at least: https://digitalcomicmuseum.com/index.php?dlid=24708
  22. I'm just guessing it seemed like a fun way to end the story; no real "story behind the story" needed. Wonder Wart-Hog was always a bit closer to ground-level than the rest of the undergrounds; Roy Thomas name-checked the character during the Kree-Skrull war as well.
  23. Does anybody know why that issue was particularly scarce? If I recall correctly, it was the only issue of the original 1-21 run I could never track down, other than the #1. And #1 had no editorial content, so I never bothered.
