  1. A masterpiece. I don't think it's the rarest of the Pogo books... I would say either Deck Us All With Boston Charlie or the Pogo Puce Stamp Catalog are harder... but it's possibly the most desirable one. One of these years I just need to scan all my Pogo books and post them here.
  2. One EC under the tree for me today: A gift from @Raze that's a significant upgrade for me:
  3. I think it's probably slightly more common than the average issue from around then. But the numbers for any issue of any pulp that's 109 years old are incredibly low.
  4. Here, let me pull up my copy so you (and others) can get a clearer view:
  5. And the last of this batch. The 81 and 96 are both the price variant versions:
  6. The miscut cover on the 47 is interesting, and for $3 I think it was still a good deal. The #65 and #66 are both the price variant versions.
  7. The other box from the Lone Star order arrived today.
  8. And one more here from the second box from the order from Lone Star. This one is a replacement (also showing my other copy for comparison); I do have some standards even if I'm the low-grade expert around here. Just a beautiful cover.
  9. In today. Finally, after 38 years, I've replaced the long lost copy of the first issue of MAD I ever had. My parents bought it for me when I was about 8 and we were living in Germany; it got left behind when we moved back to the states a few years later. We had weight restrictions on what we could bring back, my parents were actually reasonably generous on letting me keep some of my comics... but I had to give this one, and lots of others, up in the shuffle. (I regret giving up my four year run of Micky Maus, but I still have the 40-odd Lustiges Taschenbuch digests.) I've said this before and probably will say it again: I've always considered myself very lucky to have the sort of parents who would give me a copy of MAD when I was old enough to start enjoying it, rather than take it away if they saw me with a copy. Very, very happy to have a copy of this one again.
  10. I mean it is, but it doesn't get the classic cover on the CGC label. Yet.
  11. Just realized they screwed up the listing on the 73, 97, and 98... they're the (Canadian?) price variants and it wasn't mentioned in the listings. I shall endeavor to persevere.
  12. More tonight or tomorrow when the other (smaller) half of the order arrives.
  13. So, as I mentioned in the magazine thread, I kinda went to town with cheap magazines from Lone Star with some bonus money.
  14. So, I kinda went to town on inexpensive mags at Lone Star with some bonus money. More later today, hopefully, and lots more over in the Vampi thread, but here's a start. The Howard the Duck and the Eclipse both complete the respective runs for me:
  15. A strong candidate for the classic cover designation, I think.
  16. It's a Hardcover, not a paperback, but I trust the crowd here will forgive me that lapse. In today, looks like it should be a very fun read. Book Club Edition, but it will do nicely, I think, particularly since I got it to read:
  17. A few in today. I reiterate what I said a couple weeks ago: I think the Eclipse magazines are underrated- or the covers are, at least. Waiting for #2 to show to read them, but the list of creators is great.
