  1. No worries. I would describe the book you posted (a nice cover I hadn't seen before, by the way) as a pulp paperback or pulp fiction but not as a pulp without a qualifier.
  2. Generally 'pulp' with no qualifiers generally refers to a pulp magazine. Paperbacks from the 40's to the 60's that reprint material from the pulp magazines, or contain new material similar to the pulp magazines, are considered pulp fiction or pulp paperbacks. Or at least that's what I've got as a starting point, with about a billion exceptions. It's one of those "you know it when you see it" situations in a lot of ways, for better or for worse. I think one of the signatures of pulp is it's produced cheaply from a manufacturing standpoint. Anybody else want to take a crack at an explanation?
  3. Parts 3 & 4 of the story above, it's actually four connected stories, each set in a different time.
  4. Not my copy, wish it was. Just in general, loved the entire "The Duck Knight Returns" story they started the series with.
  5. And some less assorted magazines. I don't think Eclipse Magazine gets much attention these days, hopefully I'll be able to snag the other half of the run before it does:
  6. A few assorted magazines from ECCC today, plus one Skywald comic that I think would be more appreciated by magazine fans than in the bronze forums.
  7. A few more from ECCC today. Can anybody confirm for me the Creepy Fearbook 1993 is the first new Vampirella story post-Warren? 113 has no new Vampi material.
  8. I don’t think any issues are terribly pricy at the moment, even #1 isn’t too bad as 70’s first issues go. The very late issues can be somewhat tricky to locate, no idea how much worse HG copies would be.
  9. The #67 is lower grade than even I like normally, but for $5 I couldn't just leave it there. The #112 doesn't have nearly the rep the Harris #113 does, but it's the last Warren issue and it's not terribly easy to locate either.
  10. A few inexpensive pickups from ECCC today, I'll have more stuff in the Vampirella and Underground threads as well. Sorry for the poor compositing on the Wilson cover, but you get the effect of the joke, at least:
  11. And here's one I got in the mail today, another EC inspired underground. This one gives me the complete run of the title, all 1st prints, even if they're all reader grade:
  12. A couple pickups at ECCC today. The Weird Fantasies has a Corben story and is one of the most blatant EC tribute covers ever... and the undergrounds didn't lack for EC tributes. The Deadbone is a huge hardcover that doesn't even completely fit on my scanner that I'm crazy happy to have gotten at the price:
  13. And I couldn't resist the $10 for the copy of #50 with a damaged logo. Now I just have to decide which of my two is better; between the two I've got something resembling one decent copy:
  14. Found a few issues at ECCC today. The Gray Tone cover on the #80 isn't quite at iconic as the #110 but it's still a beauty.
  15. 1935 https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/I_Haven't_Got_a_Hat
  16. We've all seen the cover for #1 lots of times, but how often do we get the other Warren era Vampirella images by Frazetta around here? Including the cover of #1 at the end just to cover the whole set. Supposedly there are a couple of head sketches by Frazetta Warren used as well, but not sure exactly where they appeared.
  17. SeaTac Airport has an on-site walk-up testing location in the baggage claim area. The problem is the fastest test runs $250 and there’s a line at times
  18. Holding a spot open until I get through ECCC this weekend. These are definitely two of the top 3, though:
  19. Looking forward to the show, I've got a 4-day pass and the time off despite the reschedule. (They announced the new dates very shortly after my vacation bid for 2021.) But I may not attend all four days; depending on my budget and how busy it is and how I feel about the larger crowds after the first couple days.
  20. I've said it before, I think the Weird Tales where Finlay does a Brundage style cover are just some of the best Pulp Covers ever.
  21. That they do, I think I've got half a dozen Fantucchio mags in my collection now. If I could be sure I could get the pedigree label I would submit several of them.
  22. Definitely a strong result, I don’t have a copy. But since it now appears that’s actually the first appearance to hit the stands, even if the story in the giant is earlier in story terms, it may not be that surprising.
