  1. This is a very common pulp I got at my local comic shop a couple hours ago, and I'm certain I haven't posted it.
  2. So, I've made a couple purchases I probably wouldn't have with ECCC so near due to the extreme uncertainty over what's going to happen to ECCC. I might have grabbed this pair anyway, they were a good deal... and while there are still a lot of EC's for me to get in the $50-100 range, I'm almost done with books I can find in the $25 range. 7 Two-Fisted Tales to go.
  3. If there's anything left by the time I get off work, I will, for sure.
  4. If the show is still happening I'm still going to attend. 90% sure I'm going to skip Saturday and about 50/50 on going Friday, though. Mostly just waiting for more information, I'm local so I don't need to commit to anything until the day. If I lose the ticket price I lose the ticket price, there's always next year.
  5. Next time I get an EC undercopy I want to just give away, you'll get the first shot and @Raze will be the one who waits. Just don't hold your breath waiting for that to happen...
  6. For reference, here's the undercopy. Cover is, in addition to the fading, split and brittle. Centerfold is missing. If anybody in this thread has any use whatsoever for it, be it filler, parts, art project, whatever it may be other than throwing it in the trash, it's yours free. If you're in the US I'll even pay postage, because I can't face the thought of just dumping it. If you want it as a reader, specify that and I'll scan and send you images of the centerfold pages to print out and drop in as well. @Raze , you have a 12 hour head start in honor of our ongoing "lowest grade EC collection" friendly rivalry in this thread. After that, first I'll take it gets it.
  7. Just got this one in as an upgrade. At this point I suspect most of you are asking "That's an UPGRADE?" and @Raze is wondering what I'm going to do with my undercopy...
  8. Even if it's just two issues it's fun to say "I have a complete run of a pre-trend EC", isn't it?
  9. Pretty sure that, unlike a lot of the prints of copyrighted characters, you could fairly easily make the case those are satirical and fair use. The question is do you want to fight the mouse if they come after you, the answer is the mouse probably wouldn't want to risk the case either. Also, thank you for the awesome show report, @Raze
  10. A couple of GA covers and one 70's cover thrown in for good measure:
  11. Does anybody know where I can find the list of "Missing" four colors? I presume it's hidden somewhere in this thread if nowhere else, but my search-fu is failing me.
  12. Pretty sure I've shown this one before, but it seems to be appropriate as a follow up to the last couple. My only Series 1 Four Color:
  13. And after the discussion above, today's book. 2 more comic book issues to go:
  14. I've wondered that myself. Ingels is amazing- his art is far and away the best thing about MD; which is easily my least favorite new trend/ new direction book. His covers for Haunt are amazing. Going to the what are your favorite EC's discussion we've been having, I don't necessarily have a hard list from least to most favorite within what I'm actually trying to collect. I will note that my preference on the SF books isn't WS over WF or vice versa, it's later books versus early. I think the writing improved notably once they officially started adapting Bradbury- it made everybody up their game. And I love Williamson and the rest of the Fleagles. So I'll take later SF books over early and it shows in my collection. I'll also defend Panic vastly better than its reputation- it just suffers from the comparison with MAD and a lot of interchangeable covers. There's a lot of great, funny work in there. I'll also say Psychoanalysis is in my top 3 new direction books, after Piracy and Aces High. I maintain it was amazingly well done and before it's time. Other than the fact it was a self evidently terrible idea, it's great.
  15. Glad you're enjoying the show. I can barely wait for ECCC in a couple weeks. Any good pickups so far?
  16. And a couple books in today. The Two-Fisted Tales puts me at 15 down, 9 to go. I'll get there before too long. The Haunt of Fear is actually the first issue of the title I've ever owned. I think I've said that the horror books are my least favorite of the New Trend books, and I don't have any particular plans to collect them as a whole- reprints will do just fine. (Least favorite EC is still higher than at least 90% of all other comics.) What I DO want is at least one issue from each of the titles as a representative for my collection. I think I got very lucky snagging a Haunt #14 to represent the series. While the cover is not quite as famous as the 17-18-19 run, it's definitely a well known Ghastly cover. And the issue has "A Little Stranger!", which may not often make the classic EC story list on its own merits but is important for other obvious reasons.
  17. I'll still take 232 over 227 for myself. Not high grade, but I'm happy with my copy.
  18. Lone Star (mycomicshop) has quite a few undergrounds, but unlike most of their books they don't list them on eBay as well, only on their main website. I've gotten quite a few from them the past couple years. Might be worth a look if you haven't already.
  19. Not a paperback, but a neat old hardcover from 1931 found today. No DJ, sadly, but the interior illustrations make up for it.
  20. Found today. Nothing of particular note, just a fun cheap pickup in the wild:
