  1. If you can wait the six weeks.....send it back.... $15 does seem low and if you take it, then it is all on you, they are sorta off the hook for an easy $15.
  2. Not sure how much difference it would have made...but I failed to incorporate grading considerations...GA vs SA.
  3. Back in the day....I used "Precor" for fleas...enviromentally pretty benign..it sterilizes the fleas so they can't reproduce......
  4. There is a shop (Shazam Comics - shazamcomicshop.com) in Pasadena, MD, Pasadena is 35 to 40 miles north of DC. but I don't recall off the top of my head if they have any GA comics but I do know as far as a LCS these days they do have an okay selection of SA books. If you have the flexibility in your schedule it would be worth a call to see what they have that you might be interested in. Around here, the DMV** area, I find it harder and harder to find LCS's which carry a good selection of back issues, at least when it comes to SA books but then again my focus is on Daredevil so my view\percerption is arguably narrow. Oh and for what it's worth it is a smaller shop, probably less than 600 sq. ft. **DC, Maryland and Virginia
  5. I use to do delivery confirmation, rolling the dice so to speak, but have not the last two three times and not had any problems....the upshot is I have had instances in which it took 10 days for Portland to get payment confirmation......with a postal MO no less. Seems it's not yet time to worry......
  6. Seems to me more grading increments ultimately leads to more subjectivity in grading.......i.e., harder to get a concensus between differences of .1, .2, .3, etc. As others have said or at least implied it's hard enough with the existing increments.
  7. So, murphy's law, of course CGC doesn't list graders notes being available for the book and it was graded June 29, 2016.......I am assuming first generation "New Slab". You suggested contacting CGC; for grader's notes or bringing it to their attention for QA purposes. I am surmising that they can't do anything for me at this point.
  8. I got the book via a CL auction and interestingly enough, had I paid more attention to the scan on CL I wouldn't have even bid on it as the tears were evident. Historically, I've avoided books with staple tears, regardless of how minor but in my zeal to land the book I failed to paid attention to the scan. The book is in a "New Slab" therefore I initially thought it may have been re-slabbed, i.e., the tears occurred in an old slab, those prone to SCS, but it wasn't. I have heard talk, okay one guy at a con, who indicated that the new slabs hold the books tight, therefore less opportunity for SCS. Frankly, I haven't considering testing this out. The upshot of my rambling is, I will get the graders notes, per your suggestion and see if mention is made of the staple tears, if so, even in my limited grading experience, I can't imagine a book getting a 9.4 with those tears just as "Sqeggs" specifically points out, particularly given tears also on the lower staple although not quite as dramatic.
  9. Staple Tears Does this level of "Staple Tear" appear excessive for a "9.4"? This picture is of the top staple as you can tell and the bottom staple presents a bit less tearing.......Thanks.
  10. DD #19......Last day of school, my brother Ted brought me my first comic......I recall telling people who wanted to look at it, don't dog ear the pages and don't fold the cover around to the back of the book, but at age seven, just didn't think of the fact that the mere act of opening the book repeatedly damages the comic....
  11. Stacking Graded Comics Rather than putting my comics in graded comic boxes I've decided to do the "OCD" thing and stack 'em. So in furthering my "OCD" nature, I was wondering if any "Physics\Engineering Heads" have determined the maximum number of books which can safely be stacked? I am guessing this hasn't been determined, however if you could pass along how many you stack would be appreciated and helpful.
  12. That is better than a bong hit, at least as I remember them!
  13. Yikes....probably should have just asked random people passing by the table to sign as well.............
  14. I am probably more slanted in my thinking\imagination than most and I had to look really hard to see somebody's stick and it still isn't obvious to me. There may be hope for me after all.
  15. Oh.....now I think I get it....FN-2199 is right, there is a minimum %age of the asking price required otherwise it's an automatic decline...For example..I think CL's is 50% of the asking price or it's declined, don't recall CC's minimum.
  16. Did you offer the fixed price? If not the owner of the book is free to decline your offer....maybe I don't understand your experience as described.
  17. I bid on some Daredevils....only looked at Daredevils and most of them, relatively speaking, appeared to be selling for crazy money.....given, in particular gpanalysis history.
  18. OB is a great pilsner beer....if you like pilsners....not sure about booze, I categorize booze as brown liquor....

  20. This off topic, but WOW reminded me of something my dad told when I was a kid, real young, 10 or younger, he said he knew a woman who had a W tatooed on one butt cheek and a W on the other so that when she bent over it said "WOW".....didn't get till I was much older....
  21. AZ retail law allows that kind of selling or lack of that is?
