  1. Picked this up last night....its an upgrade for an existing copy....got it for a better price than expected which is always nice.
  2. Zell? Who's Zell? and you have a 15 cent FF next to a 25 cent Defenders. sloppy set work imo. Let's find that drug store.....selling 18 year old comics........!
  3. On the subway on my way to work....some in bed at night, both using Marvel Unlimited.
  4. Which tier? I suppose it's potentially a faulty assumption on my part but I figured it wouldn't matter which tier it is. Just wondered what event stops the clock on the turnaround time, point it's encapsulated, packed in a box ready for shipment, when the postal or fedex person picks up the box, etc.? I might be overthinking it, but I was thinking if we knew what tier you were inquiring about someone with books in there currently could confirm if the stated time is accurate right now. Normally the turnaround time starts when they are rec'd and ends when they are marked shipped from CGC. This thread has been a little inactive lately, but CGC has been updating their estimates pretty frequently. I only see a standard submissions with a 15 day turnaround. Which tier is for the 14 days? Turns out the event which stops the clock is when the package is picked up by the postal service or other shipper from the CGC offices.

  6. My answer is probably somewhere in the 810+ pages of this thread, but I am going to ask anyway, "Current Turnaround" for a graded submission is say 14 days, I am guessing the clock starts when the book(s) are checked in, but does anyone know when it stops, relative to the stated "Current Turnaround"?
  7. Did I miss it in this thread?........FF #112.....THING and HULK.
  8. It is difficult to tell from the pic....but are those tears on the front cover by the top staple along with a few spine ticks..one which breaks color?
  9. No one can get scammed that doesn't think they're getting a 'GREAT deal'. You can get ripped off, buying say an AF 15 at a fair price that ends up being restoed. Or being the victim of a quick change artist. But every scam involves tricking the person into thinking they're getting something for nothing. From the old wallet drop scam to Nigerian scams-they ALL rely on this greed element. What about elderly people who are scammed out of money by people pretending to be nieces or nephews stranded overseas? Are they greedy? And I've known more than one person who got scammed buying drugs (paying market prices too)...back in the day! I am somewhat kidding but the upshot is many people get scammed regardless, greed or no greed.
  10. I concur, but those numbers "Out Of Order!", that is painful, but the hook-up\presentation is really nice.
  11. Denver....circa 1969\1970......not offically a comic shop but my brother and I got a fair number back issues from "Book Barter Bob(s)".
  12. Many of us wish you were. Your posts would be easier to avoid that way. Okay. So then we weren't wrong to presume that you're still in your parent's basement. Well my idea has always been that you post nothing but BS which is why I'm ever so glad to just avoid your posts. But when you insist on going out of your way to draw my attention.... Tell me though, do you ever bother to actually discuss what you like about various comics on this board? 1) it's called the ignore function - you should use it! 2) my parents don't own a house with a basement 3) if you read my posts, you'd see that sometimes I do actually talk about comics - what about that "When Arch gets back..." thread you have, do you talk about comics there? I went through the first few pages and saw nothing of comics, yet it stinks up the CG board every few days. But I know that you are a mod and that thread will never get moved to the WC, where it belongs. -slym My parents have a basement. Where else would they put the sex dungeon? Nice....basement, higher humidity and it doesn't affect the latex!
  13. Thanks for the response. Can you tell us how you came to the conclusion it is trimmed this time? Did you get the book back from the buyer and re-inspect it? Or did you just go with what you remembered from the last time you inspected it for Spider-Dan? If so, then why couldn't anyone remember this rare, pricey book just weeks after a bunch of hoopla surrounded it? (Remember, EVERYONE inspected it and determined it was trimmed for Spider-Dan). So how could NO ONE possibly remember this book just several weeks later when it was brought it for a re-sub? Can you tell us who the re-subber was? Can you tell us if the same graders and resto experts looked at it during the walk through? Who was on duty that day? I know it's a lot of questions, but we all have a lot of doubts about CGC right now. EDIT: Also, I hope you (CGC) didn't wait till almost 5pm to post a response, on purpose. It gives one the impression that you did it to avoid responding to any follow up questions because everyone has gone home for the day. My guess here is that when Harshen told Dan that everyone with any credibility in the facility said it was trimmed, he was refering to those within the facility that specialize in resto detection, not their normal graders. So he probably showed it to Paul and Matt, since those would be the 2 people best suited to identify resto. Why would he show it to ALL of their graders? Upon resub, if the graders didn't catch any red flags, it was probably not looked at by Matt, Paul or Harshen again. Unless one of them looks at EVERY book, which I don't know if it is the case. I have wondered if when the book was reintroduced to CGC and all staff concluded it was trimmed, when presented with the book were they simply told assess the book or was the concern about trimming mentioned? Anything other than saying, simply assess the book could potentially bias the staffer's conclusion.
  14. As someone who only sells CGC'd books on his website I'd say you're hardly unbiased. Staus quo much? Not the status quo...just a realistic approach to an unrealistic expectation. The fact that people here expect perfection from an imperfect product is laughable. The only thing I agree w/in this entire thread is that CGC has a responsibility to handle the situation correctly...and that's on them and only them. Its not the responsibility of this community to determine what they should or shouldn't do..and casting stones before all the information is available is not only ignorant, but shows true colors by many. Take it for what you want...if a mistake was made, is it the end of the world? No...my power still comes on, my fridge still keeps my food cold and I still have a roof over my head.. Its shameful all these first world problems us comic collectors and dealer's have... No one expects perfection. That's not the problem here. Are you honestly gonna tell me that this major SA key, with distinctive faults that a stink was made about and was talked about and shown To everyone in the building with grading credibility wasn't recognized a month later when resubbed? I don't believe that for a second Here's the thing: when faced with multiples of something you don't really have a vested interest in; you forget about it. For example, I work in I.T. and users, unasked, give me their passwords all the time. I have trained myself to forget them, instantly; otherwise, I would literally have hundreds of useless passwords wondering around in my poor abused brain. Unless the book is a true rarity like Double-Action Comics, these graders probably forget the book before they even leave the building for the night. Sorta like an escort when she leaves the building.....
  15. Has anyone found a solution to this? I'm in the same spot. Everyone says "acid-free" everything...so far I've found great solutions for the bag (Mylites2), boards (fullbacks), and even good microchamber paper for inside the comics (from conservationresources.com), but no sensible solution for the comic box. Much like this post, I was going to go with the box 13 from Egerber.com, but they said they're out and won't get anymore until next year (and wouldn't be more specific about WHEN next year). The Bill Cole boxes are WAY too expensive. I saw the same boxes you did at Hollinger Metal, but they're about as expensive as BC. I'm curious about the microchamber boxes at the conservationresources.com site. If it's the same material that removes acidic and other pollutant qualities as the paper you put inside the comics, wouldn't it stand to reason that it would also help with that if the box was made of the same material? It's very expensive also though. Anyone have any thoughts? I had a semi-lengthy conversation with Gerber and the fellow I spoke with indicated they would attempt to resurrect the boxes at the end of the year, however, it depended on the cost of paper and finding a mill, etc. The upshot was, even if they can the new pricing is expected to be significantly higher.
  16. So I am OCD and paranoid, you might want to black out the windows in that door(second picture) or hang heavy curtains over them, all you need is for some individual to look in and decide he or she should own those books instead of you, outside of that I'd be grateful to have the same setup.
  17. My nine year old daughter, said to me "Holy Mackerel" that's alot of comics. So how many does he have? I don't know, do you have an estimate or exact count? I must say yours is one of the best ever, if not the best!
