  1. You forgot aldzm3, mrmystery48, artbooks77 and some bloke called goldust40. agro23 is a Forumite and also a good mate of mine - you can partly blame me for getting him into L.B. Cole...
  2. Quite often the Zombies would be green. Atlas tended to use that lurid green color almost as a trademark - check all those Menace covers, etc.
  3. I'd say they're reasonably typical - Harveys are not in as heavy demand as other publishers, especially in mid-grade (barring of course, Black Cat 50 and Tomb Of Terror 15, copies of which are currently on ebay and going for way over FMV). However those are definitely two of the better covers in the run, the 24 being the issue that Gerber omitted for no apparent reason.
  4. Kudos to aardvark88 for an excellent Atom Age book that was well packed, delivered very quickly indeed and looks excellent for the assigned grade (which I agree with!). Many thanks, Allan!!!
  5. The last thing you want when you're sitting in a filthy, wet alley in a nice suit, sweating like a wildebeast is being harassed by three disembodied heads with their mouths sewn shut. I agree - that can really put a crimp in your day.
  6. It is indeed Ernie Chan, as he sometimes chose the surname Chua (as in this case). Is this true or was he just being creative with how he signed Chan? Did he ever list his name in any book as Ernie Chua? Whenever I saw that sig I always knew it was Ernie Chan. My bad, it was an error at U.S. immigration that meant he had to sign his name "Chua".
  7. O.M.G.! Now that is a fantastic book - and looks better than the assigned grade, too...
  8. It is indeed Ernie Chan, as he sometimes chose the surname Chua (as in this case).
  9. Still have the copy I bought off the rack back in the day. Me too, plus there was also DC Special #16, which came out at roughly the same time, with the same title re heroes and gorillas, which I also bought off the stands. DC (and Schwarz in particular) certainly liked their Super-Gorillas. Good fun they may have been, but these daft reprint anthologies were just two of the reasons for the 1978 DC Implosion and Infantino's departure as publisher.
  10. Definitely - I'm pretty sure a collector friend picked up a VG copy on ebay for $40 or so.
  11. I agree - that is one of Kirby's finest efforts and a pop-art classic. Nice pickup!
  12. Kudos to October for another hassle-free transaction with the books (four Silver Age beauties) as described. Thanks and props, Andy!!
  13. Yep. And I was the underbidder. That auction received more interest than any I've bid on in recent memory - to be fair though it was a nice copy.
  14. Kudos to jeffb for some very nice E.C.s - indestructibly packed (it took me ten minutes to open the package!), beautifully presented (sending them in nice new half - backs makes a big difference) and as described - the books look sharp for their grades, in fact. Recommended!
  15. Kudos to 143ksk for two very nice and speedily shipped BA beauties. Cheers Steve!!
  16. Kudos to tkg2627 for three tightly graded, professionally packed and quickly shipped Bronze Age beauties.
  17. A personal favorite, very reminiscent of pre-code horror...
  18. Yeah, I'm sure everybody'd love it if all the other "self-promoters" in comicdom did similarly repetitive drive-by posts here with no attempt at dialogue...
  19. I like the way Mr. Brennan mentions his name in the one of the speech bubbles on the opening page of the Aardvark story. Very self-referential. Shades of Neil Gaiman... Sterl, just to clear things up re what I meant in that post - T. Casey Brennan has posted 17 times on these Forums. Seven times his post was either a link about some prose he'd written in the '70s or the prose in question reproduced, and once was about a poster featuring his rock band. And NINE times his posts contained either the complete Black Mistress story or The Aardvark story. Or both. Enough already.
  20. I look forward to rereading these two stories in YET ANOTHER thread.
  21. Kudos to Johnenock for sound packing and fast shipping of a CGC JLA 17 - very pleasant transaction, and all round fine service!!
  22. And, oh boy, can I see why! I'd never seen this book before. Where do I buy a copy? There's one on ebay at the moment - but the seller's popscomicbooks. Never mind. However they do turn up every so often there...
