  1. As a rule of thumb they will grade comics with some level of tasteful nudity (boobs) on the cover but not anything one might consider pornographic (penetration including, but not limited to, fisting).
  2. Interesting. To me it would be insane to spend $8000 on a GD/VG copy but then I see what coverless or beater copies of AF 15 sell for and doesn't look so crazy.
  3. Bump for price drop. If this cover was on a comic it would be worth thousands.
  4. I'd be curious to see what mid-grade to upper mid-grades would sell for now. Would they take a hit due to not being high grade, or would they actually turn in higher than expected results since it's an opportunity for collectors who don't have ultra deep pockets to get a first print? For example, if I had $8000 to spend on a TMNT 1, would I shoot for a 9.6 second print or, let's say, a 4.0 first print. I'm not so sure.
  5. I'll take my participation trophy and stroke it lovingly at night.
  6. If you had won the book, but didn't like how the back cover looked, would you have still moved forward with the purchase?
  7. As a regular consignor to MCS, I support all suggestions to drive more traffic to their auctions.
  8. $500 can buy a pretty great Golden Age comic. There are plenty of LB Cole covers that can be had in that price range up to mid-grade.
  9. It's in there, and Marvelman 25 is an extremely difficult to find grail of grails for us Miracleman fans.
  10. A 9.6 sold at auction last night for $1180. Ugh. I should have kept my copies.
  11. Lady Death: Reckoning limited hardcover signed by Pulido, Hughes and Jansen. The unsigned version is easy enough to find, having a print run of 10,000; however, the signed edition appears to be pretty rare, and even more rare is the edition featuring a Lady Death sketch by Hughes on the front cover.
  12. Looks like they have copies here: https://www.cerebusoverload.com/shop/p/cerebus-no-1
  13. It's not a Cerebus 1 but still pretty cool.
  14. I swear a 9.8 sold on the boards some time in the last year but I can't find the thread, either via search or Google.
  15. It is surprising. I'd be curious to see what a 9.8 would sell for at one of the auction houses, particularly in light of the escalating prices on 90s stuff lately.
  16. This is my most prized Evil Ernie possession. Youth Gone Wild first edition limited collection. This collects the first series. This edition was limited to only 110 copies, with each signed and numbered by Pulido and Hughes on a book plate and matching COA. However, the best part was that each copy came with a unique sketch by Hughes. I have seen copies of this book sold without the sketch, and some with mismatched interior and COA numbers. Who knows how many complete sets of the original 110 remain.
  17. Evil Ernie 1 came out 30 years ago this December. I have very fond memories of the original Eternity mini series. That series not only introduced the titular character but also Brian Pulido and Steven Hughes' perhaps even more famous character, Lady Death, who would go on to be the most prominent symbol of the mid-90s Wizard-fueled Bad Girl Art trend. As goofy as these comics seem now, nearly three decades later, I have clear memories of every issue of the original Evil Ernie series and the 1994 Lady Death mini series being wall books at all my local shops, for as long as they could keep them in stock. I actually bought my first copy of Evil Ernie 1 from an antique shop for $100 sometime around 1994. While there was a dip of prices on these books for a long time, it appears lately that, at least in 9.8, prices have shot way up. I've owned several copies of Evil Ernie 1 and Lady Death 1 over the years but don't have any now. When I do spot them on a wall at a LCS I always stop and ask to check them out. Since this is the Copper forum, this thread is intended just for the original Eternity/Malibu Evil Ernie series and the Chaos Comics Lady Death series that spun off directly from that.
