  1. Many dealers, both at shows and in their shops, indeed do hide the good stuff, largely to reduce thievery or to prevent non-serious buyers from funking their high dollar books up. I can think of three such LCS' off the top of my head. One of them I walk into and the owner immediately goes to his back room and pulls out the Good Stuff Box for me to flip through. My anecdotes > yours
  2. What happened with the sketches? Trashed?
  3. Nestor Redondo is the artist and I agree that spread is fantastic. Unsurprisingly he also worked on Swamp Thing.
  4. That all seems like a trying to time a market that cannot yet be predicted.
  5. Betty and Me 16 CGC 4.0 $150 I'll take this, provided the pages aren't brittle.
  6. I got thrown off when he said "value", I thought he meant "value tier" A tier that gets done in a week, $500 probably, sure To give an actual answer, the last time I submitted through the regular non-fast track Value tier, the books took 6 months. That was hard to tolerate. So now I just pay the extra $10 for fast track, which has gotten very speedy. Philosophically I disagree with the very existence of even having a fast track option since you are incentivizing the service provider to charge more for a service they should already be providing. But here we are. You got me, CGC!
  7. I've experienced no particular issues with USPS as of yet during the pandemic.
  8. Fast Track Value Received 4/1/2020 SFG 4/14/2020
  9. Yup. Most of the assumptions in this thread, as well as the boards at large, are that the comic collecting market is definitely going to depress. I'm not so sure about that. People find comfort in their hobbies. As far as selling off books now before the expected crash in order to rebuy them cheaper, I've learned the hard way that selling off rare GA in order to buy again later is a lot easier said than done. If the market does indeed depress, books are likely to become even harder to find.
  10. Newbury Comics started out, decades ago, as a small comic shop that also sold records and music related apparel, on Newbury Street in Boston. As time went on their record and CD sales vastly overtook the comic sales, and they eventually became a pop culture paraphernalia store. They still dedicate a small space for new comics and TPBs but the "comics" in their name is largely academic.
  11. When I post a sales thread I look at the books and think, "amazing!" Then everyone else looks at them and thinks, "nothing special." So, for my purposes, both thread titles work!
