  1. This is a lighting demo from the Unreal Engine 4. Won't be long until we'll get this level of realism in our shooters.
  2. From what I could tell from your story, they reneged on your dealings when someone offered 200 pounds - a big flag that the book was worth more than they thought and decided to let the auction run. But to then decided to not honor the auction just doesn't make sense (if they've already said they're fine with shipping to the US) unless they think they can get more for it. I just don't think that's a smart decision. You should count your blessing when this type of thing happens, imo. Then again, the amount of money I've left on the table over the years doesn't qualify me as a great expert haha.
  3. Could this be a case of a greedy seller thinking he/she might be able to get more for it? It sounds like it, to me. No way I would turn down that much money for something I thought was worth maybe a few dollars. They were happy to sell it for $50... I would send it anywhere in the world, Express and fully insured, for whatever it cost. Great story, jt, thanks for posting.
  4. This is the second time I've bought a slab from George. Great seller and I hope to do business with him again.
  5. -slym Is this serious? Someone on the CPG forums was claiming a DC source has told them that Livewire is going to be responsible for a major death this year. So it's all happening on the Livewire front!
  6. Eh. Nice artwork, but I can think of better ways to spend 4 grand. It's just not my cup of... milk? I have a feeling the art market would blow your hair back if you flinch at $4k for the first time anyone ever saw a character in print that went on to 4 feature films, a TV series, a fifth feature film in the works, and endless millions in merchandising along with 25 consecutive years in publication. Someone paid over $650k for a McFarlane cover with Spider-man nut-punching the Hulk. There aren't a lot better ways to spend $4k in comic art. I think that's a good price. Congrats on a great piece. What issue is that back cover from?
  7. If you don't own a copy of Superman Adventures 5 girls won't like you.
  8. I'm not opposed to the rise in popularity of a character. I'm saying the prices don't line up with the character's popularity and demand. People are paying money for the book as if the character has already hit it big, which isn't the case. SA 5 is due for a large correction. People are paying high prices on that book currently simply because they are HOPING that its the next BA 12 and they don't want to miss the boat. You you may be right, but that's the market right now. Has been for two years now. Don't go into the modern section.
  9. Am I the only one who doesn't want this thread to become what's GOING to be hot?
  10. 99.999999999% - All of us except MrWeen and the guy who just listed SA #4 on eBay for $99. I like MrWeen's thinking... mainly because if Action Comics #12 ever catches on as "Batman's first appearance", I can retire early. Looks like a sharp copy.
  11. I'd like to get a copy of that MGN #5. That's a great black cover.
  12. Shilltastic I ran a bunch of auctions this week. A lot of 2 feedback bidders pumping up prices and the ones that won are not paying. I'm not shilling so what the hell is going on? I this part of the hack? Is it to screw with EBay and not so much profit from the information they stole? Sorry to hear you're getting shilled As darkstar mentioned, it isn't always the seller. What people can sometimes do is artificially inflate an auction with shill bids in order to try and add value to their own item. If the bids aren't cancelled, the shilled price will also be recorded in the 'Sold Listings'. I hate shills. I really do.
  13. 99.999999999% - All of us except MrWeen and the guy who just listed SA #4 on eBay for $99. Good luck to them... Is there a source for this?
  14. Wow nice sale! Livewire is crazy hot. #5 has now broken the $120 mark.
  15. My Omega Red pick is still What if 33. It came out the same month as X-Men 4. Unless X-men 4 is an absolute gem and a newsstand I see no reason to buy it. Why is What If #33 relevant when every collector already owns a copy of X-Men (Vol. 2) #1, which features a non-story appearance of Omega Red? Because money
  16. I'll simplify it even further. "Appearance" means canon.
  17. People pay plenty of money for Batman #234. That's not a first appearance, either.
