  1. I actually think it's pretty awesome. I'm also not a variant chaser. It brings in more readers, so that's a good thing, y'all.
  2. I worked closely with Pia Guerra to put together a fun commission that I am proud to own. I always thought of Y as almost like a John Hughes coming of age story about a guy who responds unbelievably well against the challenges thrown his way-- whether he causes them or not. So i figured why not pay homage to a famous movie poster and see how Y looks with the Breakfast Club treatment. 11x17, and I'm literally looking for framing options as I type:

  4. Were those the first dual sigs to market?
  5. Oh, c'mon. You had to know this was going to happen! You've been around long enough, no? This book was just begging to be snatched up like crazy, and raws up until the beginning of August were going for $160 in great condition. I wish I would've bought more.
  6. Double signed 9.8 just went for about $580 with shipping. Gentleman, I think we're about to see the RRP get a little Saga-y.
  7. Dude-- congrats to you if it sticks. Definitely think it's more outlier than anything as that's just nuts.
  8. Easily one of my favorite threads on the boards. Some of these frames really make the art pop. Great stuff, guys!
  9. Two people noticed it, but Friday is really light. It's a 9.6 copy and asking $185 for it. Which I am sure it will sell tomorrow. You can definitely bump that up to $230 and it would sell on eBay easily.
  10. I'm not a variant chaser, but it's the first big dollar one that I bought, and It just came back a 9.8. Not going to lie, this is strictly as a short term investment. If it hit Saga RRP prices, I'd part with it in a heartbeat.
  11. Some great books all around, guys!
  12. http://goodcomics.comicbookresources.com/2012/10/07/2012-top-100-comic-book-runs-master-list/ Not bad huh? Chin up, it's not as if TWD is going to be forgotten after it has had such a huge impact on pop culture. You have to recognise that some of the discussion on the OA forum tended towards grail / blue chip pieces and basically pits moderns against the origins of the genre as we know it. Hardly a fair fight, but it's a sobering look at the bigger picture if you want to try and work out what is value for money in the market as a whole when you are deciding what to get. There are some cracking threads over on the OA side when it comes to prices and the hobby in general. http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=6609910&fpart=1 (There are some really clear and well written points made about the generations, markets and the behaviour of other collectables.) Anyway ... sorry to digress so much. It's just that the OA prices this month had me raising both my eyebrows. One for the prices and the other for them selling so well Do you collect art from any other titles? YTLM, and then personal sketches and commissions.
  13. I've gotta think the pencils and inks will be paired together.
  14. Judging by the print runs through Issue 5, It isn't just us. You know it'll be on everyone's "best of" list for 2013. And it hasn't even released its first trade yet, which is a huge driver for new readers. If it stays on time and continues the fresh writing, I don't see how this comic won't catch on with a wider audience. Even guys from the Silver Age forum are popping in and talking about how much they like it. And they're like, OLD.
  15. Kinda sorta went crazy. Only one I bought CGC'd was the AF 15. The Herb Trimpe Recreation isn't inked and is only 8x11 on an artboard, but I mean, dude, It's FREAKING awesome. In regards to the AA 10-- it's a crime that it isn't a 9.8. DON'T. TELL. THE. WIFE.
  16. I really don't know if that's good or bad.......But I thinking, not so good? What are you thinking Balham? I think more TWD is always a good thing, but I think you'll see an even bigger premium being paid for pre-48 pages, especially early 11x17's and Moore pieces. I LOVE the recent pages, and think we've been seeing some great stuff from Charlie, but after my buying spree of a few pre- issue 25 pages, a cover and a Moore commission, I won't be buying anything unless it's really worth it. Still bummed I missed out on that Issue 1 splash, James J. Every time I see it in your CAF I cry a little
  17. I honestly don't see how they didn't find the character development of this issue well executed? After all of that, they close with this: "the tone, atmosphere and visuals of "East of West" are unlike any other book on the shelves, and it accomplishes more than enough of its ambitions to make it engrossing and worthwhile."
  18. At some point though, these supplies will dry and who knows what things will look like down the road. 7,500 for a printing is still tiny.
