  1. Just ebay it and limit your search to complted listings with most recently complted tranactions first. Also, I believe that Branget has supplied a couple dozen board members with their Chew collections and that he has the largest and best Chew offering of any seller in America.
  2. How many copies of a single title do you have to send? Is it still 50?
  3. If the point total is comparable to the prior month then the print run is 38K. I think it's safe to assume that the print run will end up being about 40K issues which is larger than I had hoped for but not large enough to cool down the heat on Saga 1. I'm happy I'm sitting on a stack of them but I'm going to wait for the final number before I decide how many to slab. Does anyone know if you can you prescreen if you only send 20 copies?
  4. What happened for me was that I picked up the first two hardback trades. Loved them. Went back to the store and picked up every other trade. Read them. Went back and was like where are the next issues. Learned that they were sold out and then went and spent more than I'd care to admit to get completely caught up. I think this happens to a lot of people who get back into comics because of the Walking Dead.
  5. I couldn't agree more. Every time I walk in my LCS there is someone new in there who tells me they are returning to comics because of the WD and asks me what else is good and what else is Image publishing. I think a lot of the heat on the other Image titles is as a result of the WD.
  6. I have hope that it will get made at Showtime. As long as a pilot gets made, I'm confident that the show will get picked up. The team they have behind the pilot is top notch. There the same people who directed and/or produced Californication and House of Lies. I can't remember their names, but those guys are uber talented. Keep your fingers crossed and it never hurts to send letters and email to Showtime expressing your happiness that they are transforming Chew into a TV series.
  7. I think the Walking Dead Fan Club has an index of all the comics. The easiest way to tell if a book is a second print is to look at the UPC Code there's a 2 on there were there is a 1 on the first prints. The shop owner will be able to point it out to you on any book. It's uniform on all modern books. I can't really explain it without looking at though.
  8. I'm not aware of a WD 1 second print. There are WD Weeklys which are in my mind second prints. There was a WD special cover that was a 2nd print of sorts. There are WD 1 image firsts (and there are 3 printing dates on those books). If I'm wrong, someone please correct me.
  9. That's cool enough that I'm sold. I'll be ordering a TPB with haste.
  10. That was essentially the substance of the conversation. There's a guy at my LCS who slips over at lunch to pick up books at the same time I do and he is pretty knowledgable about comics. I asked him about CPG and he said that I should read it but that I shouldn't expect for the story to ever get finished because it prints like once a year or so and that it is an epic tale but that I shouldn't worry about the infrequent publishing schedule because the joy of the book is in the intricacy of the work. I can never tell if this person is a guru or just someone who repeats what he reads online. Anyway, I've been meaning to pick it up but I wanted to hear a little bit more about it before I jumped in and certainly before I spend considerable cash on the books which seem to carry a real heft premium in top condition.
  11. Issue 25 was great. I am always happy with Chew. I was sad that they didn't get an eisner nominations this year. I guess they can't always win.
  12. I hear that I am really missing out by not collecting CPG. I've also been told that there is no way that the story will ever get finished and that its not really about that. Would someone explain to me what that means or if the person I was talking to had no idea what they were talking about. Thanks! I appreciate it.
  13. For the record, I had no intention of being the driving force behind a CGC Board Variant Walking Dead. I just wanted to see it get done. If I have to be the person who steps up and gets it done, I don't know that I'm equipped to do something like because I'm not a comic dealer. I would have to do it in conjunction with someone else or a group. What I am trying to do is measure interest. If the interest is there I would consider putting up the money because I enjoy the boards and the friends I've made on the boards. I am shocked at the amount of bad mouthing that I've received for offering to do something nice for my fellow fans. I wish that people who have personal animus towards me would simply ignore my posts rather than making personal attacks towards me and insulting me, but I shouldn't expect anything from people who act that way. That being said, those who are interested in the project, please contact me via PM and I will do my best to figure out if we can get this done.
  14. My point being that we may be able to do this in conjunction with a convention ... Issue 102 the Daryl cross bow cover is released earlier that month and it's obviously a big issue. So if we could guarantee sales of X amount, plus what ever they sell at the convention that may be a way to get around this concern. I'm obviously concerned about doing this in conjunction with a con becuase it defeats the exclusivity of the issue to some extent unless we could get a seperate print run or some other premium variant of a variant comparable to the WD 94 black and white. My point is that we'll never know unless we try. The best minds in comics read this board and most of the biggest walking dead comic fans participate in this board and all serious collectors use CGC. It would make sense to reward the CGC board members from an economic standpoint and a moral standpoint. I hope that interest in this idea grows and that those who want one express interest now so that we can get an idea of who is interested in working on the project, picking up issues, how many issues people want, what ideas people have, etc. and that everyone does this with some haste.
  15. Anyone know who's in charge of the mid-ohio comic con in september?
  16. One of the variants could be a blank cover and I'm confident that everyone of those suckers will end up being commissioned art for Charlie Adlard also there will be signature fees since we are all compulsive about getting signatures on the books and all anyone here wants to do is pay for the book. That being said, that stuff is all nominal fees - I imagine that creators and their creator owned corporation of which Kirkman is a partner will be excited that his fans are so fanatical about their love for his work that they want to do something like this. It doesn't hurt to ask and I talk to an artist at image regularly via email and I'll see what he thinks are chances are of getting something like this done. He's a great person and one of their up and coming stars. His style also lends itself to a project like this. If I could convince him to do the variant cover; I think that it and of itself would be a big obstacle that to getting the publisher onboard. Do you have any idea of what sort of incentive you suspect would be sufficient to secure the agreement of the publisher?
  17. Hopefully because they do it for regional comic conventions and the CGC discussion threads drive their sales more than any convention ever has or will. You never know until you try. I would also hope that CGC would offer to help facilitate the creation of such a comic and provide incentives, discounts, etc. for CGCing and or CGC SS books as well. It's a great marketing tool for CGC. Kirkman has always been good to his fans and some of the best fans of his book are on these boards on a weekly basis discussing his work and Adlard's work and promoting sales and readership. Do you think they would be opposed to such a comic? If so, why?
  18. IDK we thought the same thing about Saga 1 and it sold out the second printing before it hit the shelf. Because none of the Something to Fear books have hit the shelf and you can pre-order issue 98 right now at your LCS, I suggest that you order 96 and 97 from mycomicshop or one of the other mega stores for 10%-15% off cover price and get the rest of the issues from your LCS. I think you'll save lots of cash. I don't think any of these books will demand more than 2-3 times cover price after they've been on the shelf for a few weeks or two months. I’m thinking that the larger jump in price will be a year or two down the road or if Daryl actually appears in the book I imagine that his CGC and CGC SS books will demand a significant premium after a few months. Just my thought on the situation and remember that I only got back into comics less than six months ago and that was after a 15 year absence.
  19. It's been mentioned from time to time in the Walking Dead discussion threads that we should try and get a CGC Board Walking Dead Variant. I think now is the perfect time for such a variant because of the Something to Fear story arc and the monumental 100th issue. Obviously Larry's Comics and others who hold large convention often produce regional variants for the Walking Dead. I imagine that a number of board members have been involved in the production of those regional variant covers and would be capable of getting such a variant produced or willing to share the information necessary to produce such a variant. It would be great if one of those individuals would offer to take the lead on getting this done and/or share the informaiton necessary to get this done. I'm happy to assist in any way I can and would be willing to contact a couple image artists that I talk to via email and see if they would like to draw a cover. I cross posted a comparable message in the "Heating up on Ebay" thread because that thread may well be renamed Walking Dead comics heating up on Ebay" and if done right this variant will be a smash hit and command a signidicant price on ebay. Please PM me if you are interested in getting this done and if I receive more than 20 PMs I will start a seperate thread on this topic to share ideas and see if we can actually get this done. Thank you in advance for your consideration.
  20. Issue 123 (thumbs u I think that's the first appearance of Ronald McDonald. It's part of Kirkman's new marketing deal. Expect Happy Meal toys soon I think the Walking Dead could be a monster of a children's cartoon as long as it keeps the spirit of the comic and TV show and incorporates some cartoon violence that is edgy but not substantially violent to the point where it would keep parents from allowing their kids to watch it. I think we've actually talked about this before when we were discussing the validity of comparisons to TMNT
  21. I agree ... I think those issues will suceed because of death(s), first appearances and hype. Something to Fear is going to be a hot run regardless of the fact that they will have the highest print runs of any issues in the series. It looks like Merle Dixon is going to appear with his brother and the two guys that were with Merl Dixon will also make their first appearance in the Something to Fear story arc. I also imagine that we are going to see Merle in the 3rd Season of the Walkind Dead which will drive the price of these issues down the road. Plus, I think we all agree that one or more major characters are going to bite the dust. Knowing what Kirkman has done in the past, I suspect that the death(s) will not occur in issue 100 or at least not all of the deaths will not occur in issue 100. The other thing that is nice about Something to Fear is that the Walking Dead is coming out every three weeks at least until issue 100 but maybe through the entire Something to Fear arc. I also heard that Kirkman is planning the release of issue 100 to coincide with Comic Con so it's reasonable to anticipate a convention exclusive cover. It was mentioned in the Walking Dead discussion thread that we should try and get a CGC Board Walking Dead Variant. I know that Larry's Comics produces regional variants and I imagine that a number of board members have produced regional covers for their conventions. It would be great if one of those individuals would offer to take the lead on getting this done. I'm happy to assist in any way I can and would be willing to contact a couple image artists that I talk to via email and see if they would like to draw a cover. I'm going to cross post this in the Walking Dead discussion. Please PM me if you are interested in getting this done and if I receive more than 20 PMs I will start a thread on this topic to share ideas and see if we can get this done.
  22. Has anyone heard any additional information about when Daryl Dixon is going to make his first appearance? The crossbow cover was solicited as the cover to issue 102. I'm still not convinced that Kirkman won't spring an earlier first appearance of Daryl. Any information or reasoned argument is greatly appreciated. Thanks!
  23. 1st appearance of three characters Abraham, Rosita, and of course everyone's favorite mulleted sham scientist Eugene. Has the world gone insane? There's a Walking Dead 53 lot of 4 with a BIN of $450! Short supply say hello to strong demand. The print run will amp up in a few issues. Until then this will occur.
  24. I'd like to make a little prediction about a book that I think will get hot and stay in hot in a short matter of time. Ultimate Comics: Fallout 4 (1:25 variant). It is the first Miles Morales and a reasonably rare book. I think there was about 5K printed. I have been looking high and low for a CGC 9.8 with no luck. I think smart collectors are sitting on these books. What does everyone else thnk?
