  1. But isn't the highest graded #22 a 9.0 [haven't seen the census in a few years] while there are a half dozen or so #4 in 9.0 or higher? Highest is a 9.2 (was my old 8.5 that thomas wilson bought, double up'd and then sold right away on Clink) - maybe 3 years ago. There is a 9.6 sc4 and a 9.4 sc4, but they're both really tough above 8.5, period. SC4 is tougher in aggregate (less copies). sc4 is also easier to get a high page quality on. sc22 next and bb 28 is most difficult of the 3. my dataset is a few dozen to several dozen copies of each. JD I disagree. Currently on the CGC there are: SC 4 Sc22 BB 28 9.6 1 9.6 0 9.6 0 9.4. 2 9.4 0 9.4 2 9.2. 2 9.2 1 9.2 3 9.0 2 9.0 3 9.0 7 8.5 3 8.5 4 8.5 7 8.0 7 8.0 7 8.0 23 7.5 7 7.5 10 7.5 15 The data shows that SC22 is the rarest in 8.0+ grade, next would be SC4 and then BB28. The softer price for BB28 in 8.0 is due to so many copies in 8.0. I agree that SC4 is printed in better paper with three copies with WP's in 7.5+ compare to one SC22 in 7.5+ with WP and one BB28 in 7.5+ with WP. There has been as many as 8 copies Showcase 4 and 15 Brave and the Bold 8.0 added to the census the last five years and compare to only 2 Showcase 22 8.0+ added the last five years. I love all three books, but SC22 is a the rarest to find in high grade (yes, I have position on all three books). , your post looks fine to me. Except the part where you disagree with me. Read my post again and you'll see that you don't. my points were: - both tough above 8.5 (didn't categorize one as being tougher regardless of which it is) - SC4 being tougher overall in any grade (less copies) - BB28 being the toughest of all with White pages.

  3. But hurt on so many levels. And as Mr. Snyder counts his wheelbarrows full of money, he'll dry any butthurt-initiated tears with hundred dollar bills. None from DM though, which in and of itself, must crush the poor soul. Meanwhile it Warner Brothers can survive this movie (which only generated $900M in box office take), I'm sure they'll never, ever, ever make that mistake again. Oh, except maybe for the Wonder Woman movie, the batman solo movie, the Justice league movie, etc.... Edit for you dc haters - I'm being sarcastic!
  4. Ummm......this movie was great. If you don't agree, then you're wrong! Long live Zack Snyder, and bring on the JLA!! Collect a little feedback from the critics, to appease them, and we'll hear less of this next time around (but please not too much, keep the movie great!) JLA could do $2B at the box office with a rotten egg score of A+, a rotten tomato score of 98% and a rotten-beef-rump-roast score of "round and firm", and some of the same folks would be out here pointing out that their Tuesday performance in North Dakota east theatres was only the 3rd best of the century, losing out to a movie about a glass slipper and evil stepmother. I'm just so excited to see what comes next as the DCEU gets the attention so many of us have waited for, for so long. thanks for listening. If you disagree with any part of this message, your computer will receive the blue screen of horror in 3.....2......1........
  5. I wish top execs at Disney and WB would read this thread and point out all the ways that this is silliness - people everywhere speculating on what the break even number is on the film, if it was even profitable, will they even make more movies blah blah blah - 50 uber negative posts from a clearly intelligent, articulate guy who is really not coming across as he intended. Not because he's critiquing something he hasn't seen...but for the length of effort he's going to hate on it. You'd think ZS was his estranged half brother circa origins of wolverine and Sabretooth/wolvie!! Here are my bottom lines guys - • the movie didn't do as well as some thought, but better than others did. This movie would have crossed a billion if it was a raging success, but not much more.....DC has to build the character loyalty for the sequels, that takes a bit more time! • people hated the choice of Ben affleck as batman and even gal gadot as Wonder Woman (for a bit). Those same people have now tried to pretend they didn't originally write that ( unless your name is Brock, it's not the end of the world to admit you were wrong...it happens) • the movie wasn't loved by everyone, and spawned some controversy with some people thinking it was the best movie ever, others thinking it was dog poopy). Gets people talking about it, which is good publicity for the next one so I like that • the box office take, the actual production costs....at the end of the day, what matters is this was the beginning of an saga. Let's hope the producers address some of the feedback to try and make the next movie appeal as broadly as possible, which is good for business. No matter what they do, some people (you know who you are) will hate it....so let's solve for the folks with doable expectations! I find it very promising that they decided to reshoot some SS scenes to respond to feedback on the excessive dark feeling of the movie • a movie that does $800-$900 at the box office in a month -- is making money. I'm sure their books will reflect whatever their corporate finance objectives are for the next quarter.....but they made money here. thank you for reaching the end of the thought process.
  6. I'm sure you would have a lot of buyers for a nice 2.5 in that price range Gator I had a nice 2.5 at 10995 in Chicago and no buyer that's not in the range you quoted no one offered 10 and a 2.0 would easily fall in that range You concrete head Floridian You said "8-10k should still get a decent 2.0-2.5 copy" yet your 2.5 was $11K. So either it wasn't "decent" or your range is off. you of all people know that I don't carry average copies , mine are always superior Eye appeal and therefore would command a 10% premium to a "decent" copy Gator is one of the few of us that believe in this concept. The problem is that too much focus is put on GPA and the last sale or the average copy sale. It's a curse as a seller to know what many of the sales actually happen at, because they're dominantly far more than GPA, and one looks greedy by asking such a number. When talking about mega keys, we'll often pay more than GPA too; that story doesn't seem to be told as often. As opposed to Gators methodology, I will buy "less-than-average" copies from time to time, but I'll always disclose and price them as such. I think Gator will just pass on these everytime. Not saying one method is better or worse, but it does say that Gators price will less often look attractive relative to "market", particularly when looking just at partial data. Joey
  7. . First I commend you for paying and seeing this movie twice... You are a far better man than I for doing it. I had my ticket bought for me so I saw it for free and still ripped off for this waste of time. It seems that every critic agrees with me and my accessment .you hoping that we can all get along and not call a turd a turd so more movies can be made does not fly. You can see this movie 50 times and it's gonna be the same result.. 250 million dollars for what.. This was the largest comic book movie budget ever . Numbers have to be talked about when this type of effort falls flat... The blame should not be to one person. But a bunch of them. Yes we all can get along but we see a joke actor play LL...miscast or not... Somebody had to make the call and get approval.... As far as my comments on the board , I try to call it as I see it after collecting for over 50. Years. My heart remains strong as a comic book collector. This film was an insult trying to please too many people and it ended up not pleasing 90% of the suckers who saw and paid for it. Live and learn but let's hope damage control is effectual and the dc universe can begin to compete with marvel. I'll send you back your $20, for popcorn, or candy or whatever you needed to watch the film. It doesn't need your money. You post the same nonsense, not a single unique, or original thought in the blurb. And most of what you say is factually false - I'm not one to stoop, but you've been posting this for pages and pages. For the record. - the movie's budget @ $250M was a lot more than Deadpool, but Comparable to Avengers - the massive dip in box office take (while who really cares, frankly) is due to the genre of movie and the big Thursday original weekend showing. It front loaded the sales. Even if the critics loved the movie, it's drop would have been significant (yes, the critics have an impact....just not 30% or 50% or something massive on the gross). So the claim that the movie does $1.5 or $2.0B if it was great, is fundamentally false - the run up of revenue comes some from build up of the fans and broader storyline. Marvel has matured this concept (well) with iron man 1/2, Thor 1, and cap 1 before avengers...and then the continuation from there. DC is just getting started, and with a lot of time between MOS and BvS it will take time to ramp up. - rotten tomatoes measurement structure has some limitations, that have been well published, and as Wayne-Tec notes, the scores from movie goers were much better (granted they weren't excellent either) Now - I can understand and respect some didn't like the movie, that's fine. But reading your nonsense, Mitch.....
  8. oh my, i regret stumbling on this thread -- the amount of hate being thrown the way of the movie is dissapointing in an environment where we a) all want to see broader success which means more movies coming and b) where we know there will be differences of opinion merely due to the underlying expectations of fans. DM - have a lot of respect for you man, i think you're articulate and thoughtful........ that said, candidly, i think the brow-beating comment was spot on (certainly not in your intentions, but the way it will be perceived). Your arguments are very deep, and ones that i'm not going to touch for many reasons. You're entitled to them, of course, i just question how many would develop a hatred so strong for the movie on that basis..... Mitch - you shouldn't' be allowed to post with your nonsensical blabbering. You haven't conveyed an original thought in this entire thread, but rather speak in some foreign language full of assumptions that sound like fact. There are more holes in your baloney than the swiss cheese that you should combine with the aforementioned, make a sandwich, and go eat it somewhere far far away. Cmon man, you're entitled not to like the movie, but i have no idea what the point of you whacking away at the keyboard is..... I agree with tth - we are way to fixated on the box office take here, as another boardie said and i liked (and will paraphrase) - we're spending more time debating the Cume than all of WB executive pool mutliplied by 10x. .............The box office does matter, insofar as there was a bogey needed to justify continuing with the DCEU and more movies --- Per most of the literature out there (tabloid-esque periodicals excluded), we have met that objective. It will probably do $1B because of the R-rated Dir cut release, but reality is, it's met the bogey needed. Most importantly - i saw the movie. I am no movie critic, but I see alot of movies.... 1) I liked the movie alot the first time - it had me shouting, squeeling, tearing up, laughing, etc..... 2) I liked it even more the 2nd time 3) the 2.5 hour flick did not seem to be "too long" 4) Score was outstanding 5) Actors did very well portraying their characters, notwithstanding the ones who i thought weren't the best choices originally Ultimately what i hope will happen, is that WB will collect lots of feedback from the critics community and adjust future projects accordingly. A good chunk of this is psychological and ego-based anyways, especially for characters like these. This will help future movies do even better (though i'm sure they won't be able to satisfy some on these boards, as they never will/would).
  9. I loved it. Loved it!! Sure it wasn't perfect but critics bashing it the way they did makes no sense Snyder is a bit dark.....guess what, these characters play better with some internal conflict. LOVED the interplay between Alfred and bats... Anyways, the theatrical release of the directors cut will set things over $1B.......then hopefully WB collects some feedback from the critics So they feel loved and rate the next movie high! Can't freakin wait for JLA!!!
  10. oh, and "long live king SC4" (we need people bombing various youtube videos - perhaps making it the new "Bababooey!")
  11. Oh you said BIllionaire, not billionimbecile..... nevermind
  12. But there was a substantial amount of time when Showcase #4 was considered the premiere Silver Age book to own. That absolutely shifted in the late 70's, as those who grew up with Spiderman and FF now had the cash to buy them up, but demand has a funny way of changing, even over relatively large measures of time. Showcase #4, even if it had similar numbers as AF #15, wouldn't likely come down to the price of a, say, Showcase #27 or #34...or maybe not even a #22. There's still a considerable amount of demand. The interplay between supply and demand isn't always easy to define. Well said! And for many years, AF15 and SC4 hovered near par on sales price (which, given SC4's rarity, still means AF15 is net net more in demand, but that's besides the point). Jaydog - it's fun to watch you squirm. I'd like to paraphrase the great Roy D (VintageComics) signature line ---- "You're so wrong, you're wrongerer."
  13. Sam is easy to deal with and a good guy all around. Hesitate not when dealing with Sam! Joey
  14. Hey Bosco - thanks for all this data you keep posting, i know it's appreciated by many! Would you mind posting a chart with all the superhero movies (Disney/WB atleast, but if you have the others too, even better). Curios how BvS might do against the other $B+ projects like Avengers and AOU Thanks so much! Joey
  15. what an incredible story - i hope this guy gets, got, and gets again what he deserves!
  16. $40-$50k depending on PQ, registration, presence of MC....
  17. Don was super easy to deal with! Recommended to all forumites! Joey
  18. Have you tried Google ? Someone mentioned to me this one time that you can get a lot of questions answer there. Or eBay ? I think they sell comics on there sometimes. Maybe you could call Steve Ivy or Jim Halperin over at Heritage ha . I bet they can help you. Normally my first call is Mr. Olds...... but that's more if i'm hunting impossible silver dc books!!
