Comics, Pulps, and Paperbacks: Why such a discrepancy in values?
Darwination replied to Reno McCoy's topic in Pulp Magazines
This is the place. Nothing I've posted so far has alerted a censor, but I've been told they are around -

Gratuitous boob shot My fave is the gutshot from the revolver in It's Getting Messy, Baker girls dishing it out!

Is Eton an imprint of Avon? Those logos look pretty similar - -
I knew it was a possibility but was pleasantly surprised to find this crime digest to be completely illustrated by Matt Baker (except for the cover).

A new one, a Buy It Now that popped up on Christmas. An easy pickup with half of an eBay Xmas gift card. I knew I was excited about the Ellison and the cover (any ID?) but the suspected and confirmed bonus is all Matt Baker illustration. The second time I've managed to pair Ellison with a Baker illustration (both Everett Arnold pubs).

Let's travel to the PLANET STORIES Universe
Darwination replied to Hap Hazard's topic in Pulp Magazines
Woo! This is my fave of this batch. The War-Maid is pretty irresistible, though. -
It would be a Crime not to post your Detective Pulps

What are the rarest romance comics?
Darwination replied to Bo_Hogg's topic in Golden Age Comic Books
Adorable! I've never seen it. Looks like remaindered Fawcetts? -
Ha, no to be clear, this last grouping isn't mine I was just out to share images of all the Xmas girlie pulps while I was contemplating the subject. There are probably at least a few of these on my huntlist (early Bergey Paris Nights and the Moskovitz and who am I kidding likely some of the others too). The early Snappy Stories and Breezy can be especially scarce and seem to fetch more than you'd expect for romance looking covers. I imagine there are some more Xmas issues out there of some of the lesser known titles, too. I do believe I have a few in muh boxes on the subject of New Year's, probably as common a cover theme on the girlies as Xmas...

Is it too late for more Christmas covers Oh, yes. But I've got a bunch I picked out before Xmas from outside of my collection, and I'm going to go ahead and post a bunch since I've gathered em up. I haven't completed my indexing of all the girlie pulp titles yet, so there's possibly better images of the fictionmags thumbnails out there. I'm sure to have missed some - I tried to stick to the traditional girlie pulp sorts of titles: Start with a Bolles there that was recently up for auction, naughty!

It's a wild scene, the animals are all super-chill or at least standing mystic-like in the background and Eve is having a good time, but Adam's uptight about the naked. It's got neat little details like the tiger's tail as a cane, or the moon sort of centered against the circles of the D and G. I probably need a better copy to get the right colors (and will likely work from a higher rez image if I do a full scan of the issue), so I didn't go too crazy with it

I don't really seek out the holiday covers, but I should a little more just cuz they have the mass appeal in terms of getting people to take a look at old magazines. But like an Xmas western pulp with a Christmas angle? Love it. I don't even know what area of these forums to post slicks, but there are some amazing holiday covers out there. I noticed one Santa Liberty in my collection: The Xmas cover from this Successful Farming is a little grimmer

A strange X-mas cover, Lulu was a sister mag to 10 Story Book out of Chicago but more of a humor digest. and I missed the opportunity at Thanksgiving but since I've got another but most *killer* edition of Lulu I believe there's a short-lived Canadian mag called Lulu that ran just a year or two after this title. Don't know anything about that one, though.
