No.  I believe you'll find some bits of info in the PBA Auction thread....  It's a Frankenstein book.

I agree, very low.  If I was looking for a high grade copy, that writing is fairly distracting and I would guess was a contributing factor.  It sold at basically 25-50% off other 9.2s in the last 2 years.  Compared to other recent 9.4s, it's a whopping 65-75% discount.  9.2s are not overly abundant in the census (top graded is 9.6) so I view it as a bad auction and not a market indicator.

I think your adoring public deserves this quest to be extended to the remaining issues.
It will help if you stay focused this time, so we don't have to wait for 30 years to see the final result.

You have a good memory, yes I still have the Church NA 24. It has a 1” bottom spine split otherwise is NM+.
I purchased the book raw from Harley in a package deal that also included the super-tough Adv 36 (that later CGC’d 5.5, Big Apple copy), Adv 38 in CGC 9.4 (purple/cleaned), and a raw Adv 39 (Big Apple copy) that has amateur color touch on the cover. The fact that the NA 24 had the 1” spine split made it “affordable”, relatively speaking.
In the same grouping was the Church NA 20; it was beautiful but was priced to the moon, and the cover wasn’t a favorite, so I passed. I do regret not biting the bullet and picking it up simply because the book was subsequently stolen (and hasn’t been seen since, to my knowledge).
Anyway, mega congratulations to Peter; his collecting prowess of these rare DC books is unmatched.

I don't know if the file copy story was ever written down but there were rumors of them going back to shows in New York in the late seventies. I think there are many sources for these (Racine, Poughkeepsie, New York, Random House); so other than the stamped Racine copies I don't know how it is determined they are file copies. Here is the old Racine office by the way back in the early 2000's.

After losing out on the Heritage CGC 9.8 (who am I kidding, the price soared before I could even bid) I consoled myself with this eBay acquisition. Probably been posted here dozens of times already, but it's one of my favorite covers.  Donald has excellent height on his swing.  Oh, and I hear it might be a key as well.

I can confirm the existence of nos. 22 and 31.
I have seen #24. It's a gorgeous copy, but has an unfortunate tear that takes it out of high grade. I've never heard anyone claiming to have seen nos. 25 and 28, but it's exciting to think they may be out there.
What's most interesting about the fact that so many New Adventures are missing from the original MH catalog is that it suggests that someone who had early access to purchasing books from the collection before the catalog was printed elected to go after the NAs rather than all the other choices available.

    1.  These Boards represent only a small minority of the market, and based on transactions in the market, I think it's very clear that people are buying the label and not the comic.
    2.  Based on many of the miswrapped/mis-cut monstrosities proudly posted on these Boards, I'd say that the "buy the comic not the label" group is also only a small minority of the folks on these Boards.

Based on your scans, I don't think it needs to be conserved at all.  In fact, unless there are more significant issues that are not revealed in your scan, disclosed conservation could actually harm the potential resale price.  Residue and white out don't bother most OA collectors unless it's really distracting, which it's definitely not in your piece.  They're part of the charm of vintage OA since they were produced for commercial purposes.
If you're planning on selling it anyways, I definitely wouldn't bother.

Very cool piece!  Burma is a particular favorite of mine.
I can't answer your first question, but as to your second question, I can't imagine selling Caniff OA anywhere other than Heritage.  Every Caniff piece of note that has come to market, including the very first Terry & the Pirates strip and various WW 2 miscellanea created by him, has been sold on Heritage.

tth2 reacted to Sarg in CGC graded Pulps - my first experience and results.
I do like that CGC is giving them consecutive numbers, like comic books. It's good to know at a glance that the October 1, 1936, issue of The Shadow is #111, rather than "Volume 19, Number 3," which is a now-meaningless jumble of numbers.
