  1. Thanks for the bump! I still love this rarity of yours. I have a scarce german book that I just received which I will post. Maybe a thread about non-US comics rather than "most obscure covers", or a general thread about rarities from the pre-war and wartime period would be appropriate… I love this… Any chance to see something of the content? Thank you for your patience as I dug this out and scanned it. Thank you for showing interest in this rare comic. Only copy I've ever seen! Please let me know if you like it or if I can be of further service. Thanks again!
  2. BTW, which is the first apperance of The Clock?
  3. Classic. I would love to won a copy. The first italian apperance of Donald Duck in comic book (but it’s a reprint, as the Silly Symphony originally appeared in the Disney journals, "Topolino" I believe) is in Nel Regno di Topolino #8, from September 1935. Inside the comic is printed in two colors (black and red).
  4. This one actually is from another series, which presented full stories from the dailies, "Gli Albi d'Oro": much costly and in a slightly larger format (halfway a comic book and a magazine). It lasted from 1937 up to 1940. Here’s the INDUCKS page: https://coa.inducks.org/publication.php?c=it/AOA I just sold it, as I had few issues (I still have #3). These in nice shape go for $250-350, the last ones for more as they are scarce.
  5. P.S. The landscape ones are pretty pricey, especially the last ones (series lasted 95 issues) with issue #92 being quite a "grail" for italian collectors – also one of the few issue representing early italian material reprinted from the Disney-Mondadori journals (in this case: "Snow White and the Sorcerer Basilisk", the very first Snow White follow-up story written by Federico Pedrocchi with art by Nino Pagot): https://coa.inducks.org/issue.php?c=it%2FNRT++92
  6. That Detective #15 is just… wonderful. Since the italian Disney have been appreciated (and very interesting bits of original US Disney publishing history as well: our own is a true adventure) here’s issue #2 of "Nel Regno di Topolino" ("Mickey’s Kingdom"), the antology series which I have posted other issues of. This is the earliest issue that I have and it’s from June 1935. Here’s the publication's full chronology from the INDUCKS database: https://coa.inducks.org/publication.php?c=it/NRT&redirected=1 Some of the issues (including #1) were published in landscape (and not the average comic book) format, such this one, #32, one of the few I have, from February 1937. This one presents in italian the sunday pages "The Further Adventures of the Three Little Pigs!" by Ted Osborne and Al Taliaferro: https://coa.inducks.org/story.php?c=ZS+3601
  7. I know this was probably meant for american books alone, but here’s just a sample of early italian Disney books in "comic book" format. All prior to 1938.
  8. Love your #46 – it’s been the only one I’d have loved to upgrade but now it’s not the best moment.
  9. That's a beauty I've been looking for a while myself for one with a good wrap and non indented staples, not always easy to find on this issue Sorry, this is the book I am talking about. I thought I had it linked to my post above. Not sure about that, one should ask CGC. I have a Fantastic Four (#36) which was considerably penalized for a dust shadow on the back cover.
  10. Forgive my ingnorance, but what is "Silicone release paper"? (yes, I can do a web search but I thought to ask).
  11. Love the National #16… Sooner or later I’d love to buy an #11 with nice PQ. I like the story.
  12. Marty do you have most of Lev Gleason's Daredevils?
  13. Harvey, I just love you for that. Chip, even just thinking about killing oneself is not stupid, it’s just the worst thing you can do. Stop complaining and if you want to talk a bit I myself would be glad to give you my phone number as well. Across the ocean, and my spoken english is bad, but couldn’t be worse than these thoughts you have been nurturing. Not knowing Chip, I’m not sure Harvey's decision was the best, but I’ll pray to that.
  14. Shortly I will start a new continuing sales thread of mixed material in the GA/SA/BA section. A few Batman and non-Marvel books, maybe a few GA out of my focus, some uncommon italian editions, a set of Spirou magazines including #1071-1072 (first appearance of the Smurfs), basically whatever I come across that needs to go, and then Marvel books. I will also open a parallel thread in mixed to offer a few Copper/Modern things, a New Mutants #98 CGC 9.8, and freebies for those who like to pick them to justify the shipping costs from Italy. My intention would be to invoice here and there, but if one buys and wants to be invoiced I will do that ASAP.
  15. Just give time for people to forget the silly movies and they will land back to reasonable prices. Maybe not reasonable as once they were, but regardless… I can’t believe so many people could do WITHOUT a #45 or a #52 and all of a sudden "they need them"… :: I managed to grab a plod #52 5.5 cheap a few months ago, small amount of color touch, and a stain on the back cover. Cracked that sucker out, bagged and boarded it, and put it in a top loader Looks 8.0 + I'm thrilled With the crazy price jumps I was beginning to think I would never get a decent looking copy Very glad for you!
  16. Now, it‘s really amazing the number of people able to clearly read hearts here… Omigosh!
  17. I’ve quickly re-read Hulk Annual #6 and I can confirm that is not one of David Anthony Kraft's best stories (at least to a good degree). The only think which makes me keep it is that in the story is revealed (retroactively) that "Him" did not kill the scientists, but rather just banished them in a faraway place elsewhere in the cosmos, which is a thing I quite like as it’s how I always saw their "disappearance" (i.e. "Him" not killing them). The "Paragon" character is embarassing, and so are his features which remind ancient Egypt (at a glance, in my ignorant eyes). There was a reason for which "Him" had these physical features and it‘s evident: I’d be curious to know why Kraft or Trimpe choose to give "Paragon" these features.
  18. And Hado is right: even if one has success, these of Ditko and other artists does not remain a good attitude in general. Not something to admire them, at least.
  19. Kav, did you read my posts? I said which were your valid points, no one denied them. But you refuse to see every single other facet of possibilities about the question. That is alarming. That is also discouraging…
  20. @Marty: Thanks for the explanation! Beautiful Skyman #2, BB! I just have The Face #2 in nice condition, and very happy about it. Gorgeous characters, both Skyman and the Face.
