  1. Same here. The Mr. Fish cover was probably one of the first dozen or so comics I ever bought. And then you guys saw the Tuska/Colletta interiors and died a little inside. Problem is Colletta's inking, which does not work well on many artists. I have come to appreciate Tuska more and more after seeing his pre-1960s work. I appreciate Tuska's earlier work. Don Heck too but by the time they were working for Marvel in the 60s and 70s, I don't think much of it. Well, the work looked more "routine", but inking is often determinant. Some Tales of Suspense issue and early Iron Man (in title) are very good, especially when he teamed up with Johnny Craig. I love #14…

  3. I’ve not read most of the earlier issues, but I loved Chemistro. I need to get the Mr. Fish issue. I think I have also purchased the Black Mariah issue, but I have to read it yet…
  4. I'm glad I kept mine. A character I really like, among the Luke Cage villains.
  5. Unfortunately the story doesn't hold up Well, King Kull "threatens civilization" so the cover displays this in a symbolic way resonating with the "communist menace". The "Junior United Nations" concept is original anyway, and the story is pretty good. And the other two stories I mentioned have communist villains whose modus operandi (and low intelligence) matches that of King Kull, so it makes sense: they use the same poetics, so to speak.
  6. BTW, I am slowly working on a sales thread of non-american wartime comics. It will take some time but hopefully will contain some unique items.
  7. That’s a great issue (Marvel Family #77). Check also Marvel Family #81 and Captain Marvel Adventures #139, they have related anti-communism korean stories ("The mightiest mongol" and "The Red Crusher").
  8. Surely less collected in USA, but maybe scarce in the UK. And welcome!
  9. There would also be a cochroack crushed between the pages of an ASM #129, but hey… it’s life.
  10. +1 Also, didn't see any red flags, or reason to suspect something fishy with listing, so I bought it. If it turns out I get a stack of confetti/pulp and can't get my money back then I'll have been wrong . . . [Certainly it won't be the first time this week.] Sorry you feel that way. In my world I'm a person who follows most rules most of the time, although I'm far from perfect. [but mama always said I'd be a problem one day] As Harvey mentioned, the grading approximation was sufficient (particularly in light of the pic), and it doesn't really matter to me which are the 4-5 books I couldn't see, since the rest of the books were interesting enough to purchase for the asking price. : ( Met’s intentions were good, he just came across a bit radical – but I do agree with Harvey as if it's someone we know (by "know" I also mean know by good reputation, not necessarily close friends, I can fully trust a listing like that. I never bought from bighairjer, but I’d trust him, as I know his name.
  11. Well, but these are realistic (unlike most of today's "entertainment"). You don’t like the prose, maybe? P.S. Poor Attuma…
  12. Huh? I still miss #34 but I seem to recall the story is great (I have #35, but re-read it recently in italian). What makes you feel that is handled in a "corny" way? Also, cut some credit to #33, if only because it's the first appearance of Attuma.
  13. I don’t recall if I already posted my #18, but will do again as I am very happy with it, alhough not a high grade copy it is fresh and presents well.
  14. All your #4s looks great for the assigned grades… I should look for one lowgrade copy but right now I have so many expenses.

  16. Wonderful #4… I was about to chime in on the Index back cover: it’s cool regardless, I must remember to purchase a new set of Indexes with white pages, as I have entirely worn out mine…
  17. Hope they’re better than mine… Trying to upgrade a bit. And I can have US shipping if needed.
  18. Yes, there is no synchronicity because since the beginning the books (which were 48 pages) had backup features related to the FFs: Strange Tales, Dr. Doom, Sub-Mariner, etc. and when they ran out of FF material they just used the Marvel Two-In-One stories as FF stories. The graphic design was averagely pretty good. When they started, since they started in 1971, they used the "fatter" FF logo and redesigned it as a Fantastici Quattro logo, starting from #1, so the original logo, properly speaking, has never been used here: When they reprinted the classic stories, they launched a new title "Fantastici Quattro Gigante", magazine size, which reprinted chronologically all the FF and Strange Tales stories of the Torch and the Thing. The colors of this multi lettered large logo were sometimes pretty "psychedelic". This is my favorite italian edition, and the one I have in full (but it stops at FF#84):
  19. This one has a great Ray story inside… Just to show the wonderfully detailed art inside (not from my copy, but PQ is nice in mine as well):
