  1. Seconded! You're a full point better than me. Mine does not present bad considered the cover is detached… This issue is just…
  2. Just a question: why is this thread within "Permanent Comic Collecting Polls & FAQs"? Shouldn’t it be in Comics General or the like?
  3. Not "from a spinner", but "Diablo!" has also been one of the very first early FF stories I read as a child – and one that I really loved! – in this wonderful volume, which came out in 1978 (not my copy, I still have my OO one, but this is a found image)… The title means "We are the Fantastic Four", a similar volume of Spidey was issued at the same time. Here's how the insides look. It also contains #1, Annual #6 and other selected early Lee/Kirby classics (Annual #6 closes the volume).
  4. And not only that: the colors are carefully chosen and arranged to have a great color harmony. As for the #11, for a late reader like me, for which Fantastic Four #176 have been the second issue I have read, the Impossible Man is way more than a crazy character… He was like "what the heck is going on"? And then, the alternatively odd, heroic, astonishing situations which came up after Tigra and Thundra became part of the family… for a while. These issue were priceless in their fun and depth (I will never forget the final decision of the Brute).
  5. I am still missing #21, which is a truly key issue to me… The story is wonderful. I have to remember to pick one, ASAP!
  6. Love the white cover… This issue always tends to be yellow. My "rag" copy, paper is pretty white in mine as well, so quite happy.
  7. #64 – My copy? Now that you have talked about the most beautiful early covers, I agree that #6 is wonderful… It’s probably the one I have in lowest grade… it appears decent but cover was removed (not detached, it could even be re-stapled) from the book and the inside has binder holes along the spine… One day I will probably upgrade, but since it came as a freebie with my #5 I could not be happier… Subby in red speedos to match the color scheme…
  8. I agree, however, that the first episodes of the 1977 Black Panther are not "easy" and a bit convoluted. The whole King Solomon Frog story was not the best way to start the title, IMO. Always loved his biblic references, anyway. The New Gods are a work on his own, but of course there were some Forever People or Mr. Miracle episodes which were weaker. Jimmy Olsen was pretty nice. All in all the Fourth World has been a daring experiment, partially brilliant, partially not so well accomplished.
  9. Yeah, most of that stuff seems a little blah to me. His Captain America is entertaining but the rest of it is, eh, whatever. While at DC earlier in the decade though, Kamandi and Demon were pretty darn fun. Devil Dinosaur isn’t much comparable to the Kiber story arc on the Black Panther, or the Arnim Zola and Tiger and the Swine episodes on Cap. It was a "divertissement".
  10. If you cannot argue why you "thought was garbage" I can’t see how good is to say that. I consider a good deal of what he did brilliant, especially the late Black Panther and Captain America runs. Not to mention the New Gods, some episodes of which are among his finest work.
  11. Bravo! If that isn't motivation to up my SA game, I don't know what is. OK, but that was a post from 2006…
  12. This is such an uninformed comment… The Silver Age of DC Comics is difficult to understand, however, if you are not familiar with it.
  13. That sucker is gorgeous. And perfect centering… Kurrgo…
  14. Living in the UK most really old comics only seem to be available in pence versions. Double edged really as even though they are rarer globally, they are deemed less desirable than their cents counterpart but because of this they command a lesser price and thus become more affordable (to me!). It's certainly better loved now, already in a Mylite with Gerber archival board supporting it's ancient frame. Honestly, if I was british I would cherish these copies in the same way. It is understandable that they are "less desirable" from an international viewpoint, as the comics are an american product, but the british edition is the very same except the price, and it’s your native language. It doesn’t get better than that! Being italian I have editions which are always "adapted" (even before than translated), so to me it was a natural choice to strive for the originals, given also the beauty of the editions. But for you UK guys, it’s the same…
  15. Well, maybe you shouldn’t read in it a lot more than what was basically an ironic remark. I’m speaking about the "rampant mysoginy" part… Hey, that's the best part!! I should have known!
  16. Brock, honestly I would not make a big deal out of this. I understand it’s unpleasant when it happens, but not a big deal to me…

  18. It doesn’t take much to make yourself a preliminary idea about what one is talking about on the Internet. I don’t know what a "Ferengi" is but I just figured out without even doing a small web search… Then one might want to do that web search in the time it takes one to claim complete ignorance for what he could have searched instead. He just said he did not know about it, hey give him a break. It’s the first thing you say when someone throws in an "inside joke" or reference to some popular spoon…

  20. Why things have always to turn out so unpleasant? I agree with Revat, relax a bit…
  21. Lovely Pence price. Relatively speaking, there are surely less UK copies around, and… it’s well loved!
