  1. More speaking in general, but you see what I mean from how things frequently go here.
  2. I entirely agree with this, Hector, and that is the part of Bobo's point which I find legitimate. I hope they will both participate, and it would be great if people keep insinuations out of the picture and stick to facts, not just referring to single quoted sentences.
  3. You're right. I had already changed it back. I apologize. (thumbs u (This is directed at the horns in your emoticon… ).
  4. All people know is to post smiling "smart" icons and stating one is "defending" a bad behavior, which is not the case at all – at best I defend PEOPLE, not behaviors. Chip has a tongue and so has Bobo: they both can explain either what they meant or how they thought they were grading, and hopefully will do. Have a nice day, shark-people.
  5. @Harvey: Obviously I did not mean "intentionally". Have you read what I wrote? And why did you put a "crazy" emoticon at the end of my period? @Hector: Sorry, I did not seen that reply. Was it edited? I find this one in the thread: @CAHokie: Wow, it seems everyone went on eBay to check. I would have never thought about it. And you are pretty good at being sarcastic, Ben, I would have never guessed it was a sarcastic comment. Anyway, if you read what I wrote you will understand my point. Chip is unlikely to chime in, and I think he should, but you have definitely malicious minds, sorry to say.
  6. OK, now, by re-reading the whole conversation, I think Bobo presented the whole thing in a way which is somewhat misleading. Not saying he did it on purpose to denigrate Chip, but of all the various things he stated when explaining what he perceived as a problem, the following are not correct: This does not correspond to how things went: Chip offered the book in the Giving Thread, not providing a grade. Hector inquired for it, and Chip said it averaged a VG in the PGM thread, but he personally thought it was better. Even CAHokie guessed a better grade (FN-) at first glance, and I do agree it looks like a nice VG. Personally I’d grade it between VG and VGFN. By saying “grade bumps” Bobo already implied Chip was agreeing with the average grade suggested in the PGM; which may not be the case. In many occasions, with my books, I disagreed too. Well, this just makes a case of overgrading, the rest is an insinuation implicating Chip acts dishonestly by knowing it’s a VG and then lists it higher. The Daredevil was graded between 3.5 with a shot to 5.0, and Chip – when he asked – just generally agreed with Divad’s and another boardie grade of a VG. He sells it on eBay as a VGFN, but this just means he considers it better, it still partially falls in the VG category (numeric grading can be a bit misleading here). I would not consider it a VGF, but saying he overgrades and saying he is not acting honestly are two VERY different things.
  7. I think Ryan’s post is the better one so far. Bobo asked a legitimate question, however, based on how Chip tentatively graded the book he offered, anyway it all depends on how much he takes into account and/or agrees with the grading estimates in the PGM. Why one has always to imply malice beforehand? Even if I point out a bad thing, it’s not done out of malice… it’s nonsense.
  8. The rolling eye emote wasn't for you. Go back and look. I was rolling my eye' say JAM_NYC's Taskmaster depiction of me! Ah, sorry, I did not see it… but I was also joking because you like to use it quite often…
  9. I thought it wasn’t lost at all: in fact it’s the only thing I said, but maybe my english still needs finetuning…
  10. Thanks Caludio. However, I did know that they were both the same book and both were from Chip when I originally posted the ebay 5.5 link against his board advertised 4.0. This is not butthurt or malice, although some may think it is. I just think it’s fair if Chip explains the reason of the inconsistency. Some may see slight overgrading and pricing lower as a selling strategy, and it might be as long as you provide scans, although to me it’s always shady terrain. Above all, I expect the grade to be consistent if you sell here and there – at least as a buyer. A VG can be a rag for some graders, while a tightly graded FN- can be a nice FN.
  11. Of course the rolling eyes emoticon does not help – it‘s pretty enigmatic…
  12. For the record: there was no malice in the initial pointing out: Bobo posted the eBay link without realizing it was Chip's for a comparision, and 1Cool realized it. Then, I assume, Bobo looked at the other grades for a comparision. I do not see this as "butthurt" – grading should be consistent wherever you sell, or at least I think everyone expects that. Overgrading and undergrading are another matter.
  13. To be clear: I am sure Jason will always offer great stuff – I just asked because the rule is still there, and I quite agree with it. From what I get, Harvey tried to avoid the situation where a Mystery Box is a caveat to offer less than what you have got, which is obviously never the case with Jason. That is why – I guess – Harvey appreciated my comment but when the Mystery Box is a warranty or semi-revealed it does not become an issue, neither in terms of generosity nor of "thread flowing", right?
  14. Pre-hero Marvels – they have the code.
  15. What does the rolling eyes mean? Am I right or wrong? I did not mean to be a spoilsport…
  16. At this point, if we have to strictly adhere to the rules, unless I am missing something, I think the last option of Jason's offer (Option E) – the one Chip took – might not be valid, as it allowed to combine the discounts into a single Mystery Box purchase: «Option E is claim all the above. (B C and D may be combined on one purchase) You may also pick in any order if utilizing this Giving Tree offer when you're picking up your Box. I'm not going to post a link, it's in Copper/Modern not hard to find.» and Mystery Boxes are still not allowed, right? While it was legit to offer "discount tickets" the cumulative one Chip took implies you have to spend it in actually buying a Mystery Box, not just having a discount towards it. Or maybe not, as Jason has also Deluxe Mystery Boxes, but more or less it’s the same thing, IMO.
  17. The bottom line for me is that one should keep consistent when stating the grade. Even if one disagrees with grading appraisals given in the PGM (when there are a few evaluations they can be really off), and even leaving aside one's own grading skills, as you grade it at your own best you should stick with it. And possibly learn to grade better, right?
  18. Does this qualify? I am not a Miracleman collector but I was lucky enough to grab a run of the Daredevils with the Alan Moore Captain Britain run. Great page quality (hard for these magazines), I would conservatively grade this as a VFNM.
  19. Should you wish to buy them, if you feel more confident I can purchase them for you and pack them adequately. I have no idea of the weight, but all five hopefully should stay under the 1Kg (2.2 lbs) tier, so it will be in the $20 range. If they weight more, unfortunately it will be $35. Prices are for Priority, Registered costs a bit more. I say this because it would be definitely more convenient to get more than one, assumed you are interested in them. A single paperback weights generally more than 350g (0.77lbs) and thus you forcedly fall into the "up to 1Kg" $20 category.
  20. Interesting to see there are so little older collectors… Maybe simply because many older people do not use the Internet, or not much, or are not accustomed to forums?
