  1. @Buzzetta have you been following that Joe eBay auction eruption over the Mickey Mouse Cobra officers? Interesting stuff, to say the least.
  2. Merry Christmas to everyone! Have a wonderful safe holiday.
  3. Impressive display! I simply do NEED to get those big 75th anniversary Taschens. They are massive!
  4. Thanks Mike. That's nice of you to give Roy a Christmas present.
  5. Wouldn't he need money for a security deposit and the first month's rent? Also, who helped him move all that stuff? Did he do it himself? So, he's either got/had someone who could have shipped books back for him AND the money to ship them OR he's healthy enough to move all the stuff himself. Either way, everyone's books are gone. There's no way he's still got them. It just doesn't add up.
  6. I'm at work, so it was a good time-waster. I have a Retro unit at home that has 49 systems and 25,000+ games on it (including 3,000+ arcade games). It's magical. Pole Position is sooooo much fun to play.
  7. I just read this entire thread as I didn't read the forum for a few days. I would like a cookie. Thank you.
  8. The family that sold me the great 70s magazine & book collection last month contacted me this week and said they found more boxes of paperbacks. Those were pretty cool to look through (more Conan, Lovecraft and classics). However, the gems inside those boxes turned out to be these...
  9. They barely have any QC at all that matches the volume of product they handle, so this is really a moot point.
  10. I get where you're coming from and I don't want to derail the thread either, but other than redesigning the holder there's not much else they can do to combat what's been done. They might not even invest in that since it was one guy doing this...there's no evidence that this is a widespread enough issue for them to make the tooling investment to change the case design.
  11. I think that only happens if the seller is questionable to begin with. If you have thousands of positive feedback with comments that say how amazing your customer service is and how everyone is happy with all aspects of how you sell on eBay...that can't be faked. A couple, yeah...but thousands all saying the same thing? At some point you have to call a duck a duck and consider that the seller is actually offering a second chance item legitimately.
  12. They don't. Two different times they graded an exclusive cover. Both times there was a single 10, three 9.9s and the rest 9.8s, IIRC. The odds of that are astronomical UNLESS it was planned out, and I'll bet it wasn't planned out for free. THAT destroys their business model..."the integrity of the grading and the census." Facts don't back up the position that "they care." I don't care if it's an exclusive that barely any people give a crud about or a copy of Amazing Fantasy #15. The 9.8 grade should be the 9.8 grade should be the 9.8 grade. Every time. Oh, and big surprise...that hasn't "lost the trust of the audience" or lost them business. They continue to print money hand over fist.
  13. ...or that they don't care at all, which is the obvious conclusion. They sold grades to companies on two different occasions (which should have completely destroyed their reputation) and after the initial hubbub died down, everyone forgot about it. People will forget about this in a couple months as well.
  14. This is the most factual sentence in the thread. EVERYTHING is bound to happen at least a few times when you sell thousands of items a year. It's the Law of Averages. There's no avoiding it. I actually swapped items on two orders recently. First time in years, even though I have a system when I ship things to avoid such a mistake. Everything eventually happens.
  15. #1 - CGC doesn't care if someone got ripped off, whether it's through fault of their own or not. #2 - People on this forum like to argue, with everyone always trying to prove they're right in every post. #3 - Overall, this place is one tenth of one percent of the hobby and anything here won't move the needle in any aspect. #4 - CGC doesn't care in general (with Mike being the exception, but he kinda HAS to). They're a money-printing machine.
  16. Not objectionable, either role...as long as Doom is mostly in his mask.
  17. Kiffness is VERY talented. I recommend his YouTube channel for some fun tunes.
  18. Ah, okay. I wouldn't call that "world famous" (like, say, Aerosmith) but those two have the cred.
