  1. Finally got a scanner, so I figured I'd share some of the ones I posted before with only a photo:
  2. Thanks! I will. I definitely liked Transformers as a kid, and the Dinobots were right near the top of the list.
  3. They are! Thanks! I've seen some of your pick-ups in your thread, and you've got some nice books and pages yourself. I also figured I couldn't go wrong with Grimlock, either, so I grabbed that one, too.
  4. That turned out pretty good! I've been sitting here scanning my little heart out. . . trying to get caught up on all the books I've been wanting to share and could only take a pic!
  5. I needed some "retail therapy" this past weekend. . .
  6. That's what I got, too. Really easy to use.
  7. Finger prints on the slab, but otherwise. . .
  8. Messing around with my scanner tonight. . . I get a weird pixelation, even at 300 dpi.
  9. I just saw a Malcolm Reynolds Fireflly/Serenity statue, and now I have to add that one to the list.
  10. Sometime this week, I should receive a USB cord for my new scanner, so I can start sharing better pics of some of my books!
  11. The Spidey one, where he's coming out of the ground? I saw this Daredevil one a while ago, but I don't remember much about it.
  12. 2K? Pass Absolutely pass. Yikes. Even if it was $1K, I think 4' tall might scare me away! I can imagine that statue standing in my dining room and my wife's reaction! Dining room? Dining room TABLE!
  13. Loose focus with the freedom to pick up something outside of the focus if it is really cool. I like small aggregates of associated pieces. . . I have a Wolverine and a Hulk that look like the cover to Incredible Hulk #181. Yeah, as much as I wish I could focus, I tend to agree. There's two reasons to buy a statue - how amazing the piece is itself, and how you feel about the character being portrayed. Sometimes a piece is so good, you almost don't care about who the character is. Exactly. My answer was based on a conversation I had with a long-time collector a few months back. When I had expressed my intent to focus on runs, he looked at me and said, "Focus can be a good thing, but what are you going to if a cool book outside of your focus comes up?" I really didn't have an answer, and so this hybridized version of my thought process came out of it. I feel the same about the statues. Like I said, I have a few right now, but when I saw the DC ones coming from Sideshow, I thought they made good choices for a group. Same with the TMNT statues. I'd just like to get the 4 Turtles. There are a few other groups I'd like to get. I think this way lends itself to an organizational system that not only makes sense, but puts a realistic expectation on myself that I can't have everything. . . but there are plenty of options for me to get a bunch of different groups and get statues that I like. It's tricky because both focused collecting and unfocused collecting can lead to buying you don't really love. Unfocused, and you're prone to impulse-buy stuff you don't care about that much, just because it looks cool. Focus, and you might feel obligated to buy something you're not that into, just because it fits and you want to add to your collection. As far as statues go, neither is good. But one way statues differ from comics is that there isn't a sequence to follow, so I think to myself, do I really need these 5 Batmans that aren't that great just because they're "Batman", or should I just buy one or two really awesome Batmans and also get that awesome Punisher, or Daredevil or Wolverine. Considering the space these things take up, what they cost and the fact that they're improving with time, it just seems better to go for higher quality diversity. Focus too much, and you miss out on something you may end up liking a lot, too, better than much of what you have in your focused collection.

Are new TMNT statues coming soon? No, no. Sorry. Someone posted them earlier in the thread. I saw the Michaelangelo, and thought it looked like a nice statue.

  17. Soooo. . . I got myself put on the list for the Sideshow PF Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman. I don't like any of you anymore.
  18. I happened to get Uatu The Watcher a little while back. I'd like to get a Thanos, Surfer, Warlock, and Galactus.
  19. Thanks for the kind words. #11 is a personal favorite. I loved that issue as a kid. My goal was originally through #60 and Annual 4. I still need three issues in the 40s (43, 45, 47) and Annual 2. They shouldn't be hard to get. Just waiting for pretty copies. I may eventually take it through 100, but I also may break them up and sell them if something different strikes me. I'm glad you were able to finish it up! We were talking about this run just a few months ago. . . I'm glad I got to see them here.
  20. I was actually considering resto on my copy, and sent it in for evaluation. It would have been a "Labor of Love," for sure. Ultimately, I decided to send it to CGC, as is. I kind of like that it was a book that someone obviously enjoyed. I was concerned about conservation of the book.
  21. Well, in order to hit the goal I set for the year, I thought it best to go in without any outstanding obligations. So, I paid off the balance on two books I had on time payments from last year. Enjoy! Now, if one of the books on my list shows up, I can focus solely on it!
  22. I'm with you...I have a large bust collection, probably about 30 full size statues...mainly for space reasons. My brother on the other hand, He has almost every Bowen statue created, he's missing a few but he's always on the hunt. Eventually he plans to have glass installed in front of the shelves as well to further protect them. As of now he and his wife have no children. It is impressive. Maybe a little over a year ago, I walked into Bedrock City just as they were putting out a huge collection that someone had brought in. I picked up my Wolverine and Hulk out of that group. I haven't seen a Shadowcat that I have really liked yet. I do want to get that Thor, though.
