Man, I have been so busy I haven't had a time to post any updates here. Sorry about that!
But I wanted to let everyone know that my newest comic, Cthulhu vs. Uncle Sam #2, is coming to Kickstarter next week, October 27, just in time for Halloween. When cultists summon Cthulhu to attack New York City at the height of World War II, Uncle Sam has to call on the aid of Lady Liberty in order to save America!
Here's the link to the pre-launch page: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/thecrimebusters/cthulhu-vs-uncle-sam-2/
And here's this issue's batch of covers. Thanks for all your support!!

I'm excited to announce that my new comic, The Crimebusters #4, is now live on Kickstarter!

This one has been a lot of work for a long time. I've had a lot of health issues, and I drew this entire 36 page issue while lying down. But it's done, and I'm really excited, as this is my first issue that in color instead of black and white.

Thanks for all the support with this project!

Well, I have been remiss in posting stuff here, just have had so much personal life stuff over the past year that I haven't been around as much.
However, I'm back, and so is my self-published comic The Crimebusters, which is a continuation of the Golden Age Crimebuster series from Boy Comics.
The Crimebusters #4 will be coming to Kickstarter on May 15!
But you don't need to mark it in your calendars. The pre-launch page is live, so if you go there and click the "Notify me on launch" button, Kickstarter will let you know as soon as it's live.
    Thanks for the support, everyone!

Here's a look at this issue's variant covers. The website doesn't like them this small so they made everything a little fuzzy, but the real covers are super high def:

I made a video where I show the results of all 5 variants of my comic, The Crimebusters #1, that I sent into CGC. Results were mixed! But it was a good learning experience, particularly just trying to figure out how the submission process works when you are sending in your own signed books. The answer is: it's confusing!

    Hello, friends!
Just a quick note that the Kickstarter campaign for my new comic Cthulhu vs. Uncle Sam is ending on Monday, so we're in the final couple of days now. Just wanted to let you know in case you were interested but hadn't backed yet. If you want to, now's the time! And if not, that's totally cool, I appreciate the support everyone has given me!
Here's the link one more time!

    Hello, friends!
There's just 9 days left in the Kickstarter campaign for my new comic Cthulhu vs. Uncle Sam, so I thought I'd give another update for those interested.
Right now, we're fully funded! Hurray! So thank you all for the support, I really appreciate it!
The official goal was $2800. As I'm typing this, we're just short of the first stretch goal, so I haven't announced any of the future stretch goals yet. But the scoop is this: in order to break even, I actually need to get closer to $3700. If we don't make it, fine, we're close enough so I don't mind taking a small loss in order to get this comic made. I'm not expecting to make money on this! But if we do get to the $3700 mark and this is self-sufficient, I and my artist Jay Piscopo will be doing a second issue. That's basically the last stretch goal (plus some other rewards) - guaranteeing another issue of the comic.
If not, again, no problem. This story is complete and self-contained. But I do have an idea for a sequel I'm excited about, so we'll see what happens! With 9 days left, I think it's possible we might be able to reach that mark.
Anyway, just an update and a little peek behind the creative curtain! I'll be back with another update next weekend as we go into the final push. Who knows where we'll be then!

    comic books
Well, we're almost halfway through the Kickstarter campaign for my new comic Cthulhu vs. Uncle Sam, so I thought I'd provide an update. Right now we're at 87% funded, so it's going pretty well. The campaign is in the dead zone at the moment, so I'm grinding out cross promotion posts and stuff like that to try and get some more eyeballs on things. I also recently added 11x17 prints to the add-ons, and that helped, as several people adjusted their pledges upwards. It was a request from a backer, so it's nice to give people what they want!

As always, thanks for all the support!
I've also only got a few more of this variant cover left, so people seem to be liking it a lot!

    Hello, good friends!
I'm excited to announce that my newest comic, Cthulhu vs. Uncle Sam, is now officially LIVE on Kickstarter!
This one is written by me, but with art by Jay Piscopo. The story: at the height of World War II, a secret cult tries to summon the dread Cthulhu, and only one person can save the world -- Uncle Sam!
I've shared some of the covers and art before, but here's a look at all 6 covers:

    Hello everyone!
I'm excited to share with you a live launch party for my new comic Cthulhu vs. Uncle Sam that I will be hosting on Sunday, June 27, at 7 pm ET. Everyone is welcome to join in!

I also wanted to share some of the variant covers with you.
This one is by Ryan Mendoza, the regular artist on Miskatonic High. This will be limited to 250 copies printed, and there will also be a virgin variant with just 50 copies printed:

This vintage wrestling poster variant is drawn by myself, and there will be just 50 copies printed:

And this one is also drawn by me, with just 25 copies printed:

    comic books
    Hello, friends!

I'm excited to announce that my new comic book, Cthulhu vs. Uncle Sam, will be going live on Kickstarter on June 28.

I think the high concept pretty much explains itself, but: at the height of World War II, a group of Nazi cultists attempt to summon Cthulhu. Only one person can stop them: Uncle Sam!

Unlike The Crimebusters, I am not doing the art for this. It just takes too long for me to draw, and I realized that if I want to produce more comics, I need to hire artists to draw my scripts. So this is my first experiment hiring an artist. If it works and I can recoup the costs, then it opens up a lot of doors for me to make more comics!

The artist on these is a guy named Jay Piscopo, who started in animation and is known for doing updates of public domain superheroes.

Here's a look at the cover - logo is still in process:

Here's a preview of the first three pages:

This story also takes place in the Crimebusters universe, but 12 years earlier; Joe here is Officer Joe in the Crimebusters, and Granny Gumshoe also has a major role in this story.

Since this is in color, it's going to cost more to print, and of course I had to spend a lot on the artist, so this Kickstarter has a much higher goal compared to The Crimebusters as I am aiming for $3000. I think we can get there as it's a fun story with a lot of crossover appeal. But we'll see how people react! Word of mouth is going to be very important, since I no longer have acgive Facebook or Twitter accounts to promote this. That's a major roadblock, but hopefully if people like the project, they will share it organically.

Here's the link to the preview page - if you click on the "Notify me on launch" button you'll get a reminder when the project goes live. Thanks everyone!!

    Hello, friends!
So, I'm excited that the Kickstarter for the latest issue of my comics The Crimebusters successfully funded. I now have all the books in hand and have sent out all the rewards to my backers.
I also know there were a lot of people who wanted to get it, but due to the circumstances of the past year, weren't in position to do so.
So I'm trying something new this time, which is Indiegogo InDemand. Basically, it's an open-ended continuation of the Kickstarter campaign, allowing people to continue to back at their leisure rather than under the time constraints of a normal campaign.
If you're interested in checking it out, The Crimebusters #1-3 can be found here on Indiegogo. Thanks for all the support!

Still two weeks to go in the campaign, though, and I'm hoping to bring in some new readers, and bring back some old readers, so I'll be announcing the first stretch goals tomorrow.

Also, if you haven't read the first issue yet, I am giving away digital copies to anyone who signs up for my mailing list. I only update once a month (except during launches) so there's not too much spam; my October update should be going out in the next couple days, so now's the perfect time. Thanks!

I've been churning out the YouTube videos, so there's a bunch to see on my channel, but I thought I'd just highlight these two.

In this video, I spend 5x as much as I ever have for a comic and acquire one of my personal grails:

And in this one, I start a new series called Origin Stories: The Comics That Shaped Us where I interview comic book fans about their origin story as a collector, though the lens of the 10 individual comics that had the biggest impact on their life. In this first episode, I interview the person who sold me that grail book! Which is Shaxper, the founder of the Classic Comics Forum.

Episode #28 of the Classic Comics Forum Podcast is now live, with the second part of my three-part discussion about the Fall of Yellowjacket storyline. This time around we finish talking about the infamous court martial story in Avengers #213 before moving on to discuss #214-220:

Meanwhile, on the YouTube front, I've got a couple new videos to share with you.
In the newest episode of Origin Stories, I speak with Roquefort Raider about his experiences getting into comics in Quebec in the 1970's:

And in this one, I show off some comic strip sketches that my Grandmother made in 1940:

Cross-posting this from the main forum, because I'm just too excited to keep it to myself.
I just got this back from CGC - it's the first issue blank variant of my self-published comic The Crimebusters, which I then signed and sketched with an homage to Archie #50, starring my character Trixie Trouble.
When I learned that artists can submit signature series books and act as their own witness, I had to try it!

I've been a busy beaver, buying comics and making videos about those comics, so I've got a batch of new videos for you today.
