Yeah, but for what?  Will you be offering whatever you got back on this thread to try to make another round of trades?

I will have a new round of books for trade at some point that I will bring here to the CGC forums, yes. Probably 1-2 months. :)

But it may not be the books I received from these specific trades. After I close this thread, I'll be taking the remaining books in my trading pool to other venues where I do trades - YouTube, reddit, Instagram - to do more swapping. So hopefully by the time I rotate back to here, there will be a whole new pool of books! :wishluck:

Speaking of which, I'll be closing this thread tomorrow!

Thanks for all the support, everyone!

  2. Avengers Annual #10 - 9.0 - TRADED

Non color breaking bend upper right back cover. Upper middle bc, non color breaking finger bend. bends bottom edge back cover. There's a small non color breaking indention on middle left fc that you can't see in the scan.

    Very nice copy!

  3. Strange Tales #169 - 4.0 - $270 trade

There's a long crease lower part of front cover that's a little more apparent in hand than in the scan.

Note a short, deep scratch on the back cover by the NFL Electric Football game. It's close to a tear, but maybe not quite.

Looks nice for the grade! Who doesn't love back cover flaws!

so all of these books came out of dollar box diving or through trades from dollar box finds?  Pretty cool.

Yep! I've been trading for almost a year, so it's starting to get some bigger books. The ones in this pool that I actually got out of dollar bins are the MP #28 (a few years ago when nobody cared), the StarSlayer #1, The Richard Dragon #5, and the Shanna the She-Devil #1. The others I traded for. :)

  5. Doctor Strange #169 - 4.5/5.0 - TRADED

This is probably a 4.5 technically, but I want to call it a 5.0, so I'm just going to hedge and call it both. lol

Extensive vertical creasing parallel to spine. The creases are more apparent in hand than in the scans, which is odd. The rest of the book is really nice, great color.

  6. Welcome to Round 7 of my Great Trading Challenge!

Last year I started a challenge: using dollar bin finds only, I am trying to trade up to an All-Star Comics #8! Along the way, as I find new dollar bin treasure, I am adding them to the pool. But no matter what I find or trade for, I'm not keeping anything for my personal collection until I reach the All-Star Comics #8. My hope is that I can find the books you want for your collection and trade them for you in exchange for something you no longer need that will get me one step closer to my ultimate goal!

So if you have some books that don't fit in your collection but are worth some money, consider trading them to me and get something you want in return! :)

This is round 7. I'm hoping to combine some of these books, so I'm especially interested in trading two or three of mine for one of yours. But I will consider any and all offers!

These are the books I have to trade today, along with the trade value:

    Marvel Spotlight #32 - 9.0 - $310

    Doctor Strange #169 - 4.5/5.0 - $300

    Marvel Premiere #28 - 8.0 - $280

    Strange Tales #169 - 4.0 - $270

    Avengers Annual #10 - 9.0 - $140

    Power Man and Iron Fist #66 - CGC 9.4 - $125

    Flash #152 - CGC 7.0 - $75

    X-Men #136 - CGC 7.5 - $60

    Shanna the She-Devil #1 - 2.0 - $45

    StarSlayer #2 - 9.0 - $35

    Richard Dragon Kung-Fu Fighter #5 - 4.0 - $25

    Red Ryder #65 & $85 - 4.0 - $25

    Micronauts #1 Whitman variant - 8.0 - $25

Pictures to follow shortly! My scanner broke partway through, so some have scans, some have photos.

  7. It's not a retcon, Kang explains in his first appearance in Avengers #8 that he was previously known as Rama-Tut. Stan and/or Jack planned it from jump street.

Kang and Immortus being the same person is a retcon. There's no suggestion of this in Avengers #10, and I don't think Immortus appeared again until Englehart used both of them in the classic Kang arc that began in Avengers #129, where he tied them together.

    @Crimebustergot any Starchie stories?

    Why, yes I do. hm:)

I just posted a video on my YouTube channel yesterday about visiting a store over Christmas break where I found several issues of Mad the comic book for very nice prices, including Mad #12 with the Starchie parody. As a big Archie collector, I had to have it, even though the first time I saw it at the store it went right over my head. It wasn't until I was back in my hotel room that I realized I had left behind the big kahuna, so we had to go back for it.

Here's the video where I talk about buying these issues - the #12 with Starchie is the third one I discuss:

  9. Conan the Barbarian #23 would probably be my pick. You can still get a 9.4 for under a grand.

There are also a lot of DC books that are way undervalued compared to Marvel. Whether or not they will ever go up is hard to say. DC Comics Presents #26 you can get a 9.6 and have money left over.

Fantasy Quarterly #1 is another favorite of mine. You might still be able to get a 9.6 for a grand if you hurry.

  10. I have no problem at all with Ms Marvel's costume. Part of the point is that she's a kid trying to be what she thinks a superhero is, so dressing up in a goofy homemade costume fits perfectly.

I don't like the idea of changing her powers, though. There's a lot of metaphorical stuff going on with her body being weird and how it corresponds with her body image, and her image of her personal identity. In the comics, the first time her powers manifest, she shape shifts into Carol Danvers because Carol is strong and beautiful, yes, but also because she is blonde and white. And then Kamala has to work through why she instinctively did that, why she feels that's what she needs to look like to be a hero and be accepted.

That was one of the most powerful parts of her first story arc and I'd hate to lose it for some knockoff Green Lantern crud.
