  1. G.I Joe #289 - Larry Hama Signed Collector's Edition - $149 shipped

This is a recent, very limited variant. It was drawn by Larry Hama himself. The print run was limited to 100 signed copies.

There were, however, some small number of unsigned copies as well. Not sure how many, it wasn't said, but my guess is that they printed some extra in case of damaged or lost shipments, and ended up selling those unsigned extra books.

Unsigned copies have sold on ebay for $149, signed copy recently sold for $200. For the boardies, I'll sell the signed version for the unsigned price.

    4. shipping is FREE to the U.S., or $25 to Canada. Any import fees to Canada to be paid by the recipient. I wish this was easier, but they have made things real messy to ship up to Canada.

    5. Paypal only please

    6. please pay promptly, I have a crimefighting monkey sidekick to feed

    7. If there's any kind of issue with the books, let me know within one week of receiving it and we can figure out some kind of return. But I don't anticipate any issues!

  3. Are we supposed to pretend Zack Snyder didn't make a Batman movie now? It was literally the last film version of Batman, so I think comparisons are more than fair. The Batman doesn't exist in a vacuum. It exists within the context of all the previous Batman movies.

I swear, every thread in this whole movie section is you guys just arguing your goofy Marvel vs. DC and Release the Snyder Cut agendas like 8 year olds on a playground.

  4. Just watched this wife my wife.

Geez, why didn't anyone warn me the movie is 7 hours long?!

Much better than Zack Snyder's version, anyway. Robert Pattinson was very good. I liked this version of Catwoman and Gordon.

Did not enjoy the movie as a whole, though. Batman essentially failed horribly as both Bruce and Batman - Riddler's plan works in part because Bruce is so self-obsessed he doesn't pay any attention to overseeing his charity, the city is completely ruined, untold numbers of people die, and Batman is a day late and a dollar short throughout. All so... he can learn a lesson about needing to provide hope? But we don't even get to see that - a scene with him as Bruce at the end deciding to engage with the community would have made a world of difference, but instead we just get another Rorshach wannabe voice over about it instead. Honestly, with all the bad guys being inspired by Batman and his obsession with vengeance, the movie seemed to be saying "we don't need Batman right now, we need a hopeful hero. Like... Superman?"

Also hated this version of Riddler, and all the Jan. 6 / Hurricane Katrina stuff mashed up at the end was too much for me personally.

Still much better than Batman v Superman. But please spare us all from yet another Joker in the sequel. Holy smokes, enough is enough already. Give us literally anyone else. Calendar Man, I don't care.

  5. I'm bringing the new issue of my comic The Crimebusters to Kickstarter on May 15. It's a continuation of the Crimebuster series form the public domain Golden Age series Boy Comics.

This time around I drew three covers for it: the regular cover, the Boy Comics variant (which is a tribute to the art of former Boy Comics artist Joe Kubert), and the Kickstarter Exclusive variant (which is homaging John Romita Sr.'s cover for the Marvel Treasury Superhero Holiday Grab-Bag special).

  6. One more book.

    All-True Romance #24 - 2.5 - $39 $29 shipped

People seem to like these post-code Ajax romance, which aren't always easy to find.

    Long spine split at bottom.

Both staples are still attached, though bottom one is pulling away,

Book is musty, like so many romance comics.

I have to wonder if that was a "warehouse" book of some sort...to see a book that's relatively uncommon but with that number of very high grades on the census makes it look like there were a box or two of pristine-conditioned copies that never actually got distributed.

If memory serves, I seem to recall in a letter column late in the original Elfquest run the Pinis revealed they had indeed found a box or two that were never distributed and were selling them by mail to fans. I don't have my issues anymore to verify this memory is correct, but I think that was the case.

Curious, why avoid Canadian editions ? I know UK editions usually go for less, though there are claims some might actually be printed before US editions. I have also heard there was a short craze for Australian editions because of the small print runs.  Looking for insight...

I'm no expert, but many Golden Age Canadian editions are in black and white instead of color, and often have lower page counts. I have a few that are missing stories as a result - they have 2 stories instead of 3, for instance.

I don't mind them at the right price, though. My Girls' Love Stories #1 is a Canadian edition and it cost about 1/3 what a U.S. edition in the same grade would have. That's okay by my wallet!
