  1. Did he say years ago AND spinner rack all in the same sentence ? Im already getting a headache from the potential giddyness. Welcome to the boards TheBigJ !
  2. Those are damn sweet JWK. I sure would love to find me a copy of that Adventures in the past !
  3. Oh man, absolutely,at 60 bucks only each, theyre just awesome. Yesterday,i couldnt get out of this page. http://www.marvelmasterworks.com/library.html
  4. Hi all, today, i bought a Masterworks JIM issues 1-10 and ive been inspired by this thread and others to look deeper into certain panels and appreciate the art of certain artists. I'd like to share these. Now this is a great use of shadows and lighting,so evocative. This one is also terrific artwork using trees as a framing device. Now ive noticed a few artists using a succession of panels to convey transition or movement. The colors are amazing. First one is Jay Scott Pike second one is Dick Ayers. This story i love, and ive decided im 100% sure Rod Serling read this to help him create a very famous episode. And i love how the sitting cop seems to be the only one reacting to this announcement. Last, but not least, something that made me laugh pretty hard.Amidst the ghoulish stories are little 1 or 2-page written stories. at the end of one is this.A give blood kind of PSA.
  5. Ooohhh theres a Ghosts one ? Ill have to look for that one.
  6. After the Montreal convention in September,i may have more powerful covers to share, but for now i have these.
  7. Memory lane was established in downtown Toronto in the 60's I posted this in a thread some while ago. Be prepared to look at mint everything AND in comic book racks. http://www.cbc.ca/archives/categories/arts-entertainment/visual-arts/the-comics-in-canada-an-illustrated-history/canadas-first-comic-book-store.html
  8. I love those. Most are campy camp but they still make for a good read. And i had seen that website with all the Robin from left or right bottom corner covers, but this just takes the cake. How many covers like that are there in this title alone ? Poor Robin, relegated to that one expression of constant amazement and when he does talk like on WF 94,he says stuff like " Gosh Batman,is that the famous Superman ? " Poor, poor Robin. I can see how every action gets a reaction kind of thing, but he sure gets the most out of his Robin the boy " wonder " title doesnt he ? Thank you much for posting all of those, folks.
  9. There is a grade 5 Batman 11 in the profiles-in-history auction at the end of July.. page 105 http://issuu.com/profilesinhistory/docs/dreiercollection?mode=window&backgroundColor=%23000000
  10. My newbie reply of the day. If youre gonna choke your model as your painting them, maybe you should look into another career. Oh and for the Timely..
  11. We can never say it enough. Thank you, thank you, thank you to ALL who posted covers in this thread !
  12. Montrealfilmguy readies his Starlog collection and his Cinefex collection.. Ok we're ready. And someone releasing a horror/scifi mag price guide is long overdue. Last one is from 2000.
  13. Happy you chaps are enjoying them. Here's 10 more for your viewing pleasure Look closely at the top and the Dell logos, some of them seem to have a closer cutoff like the rifleman cover,is that what they call a trim ? Officer FRANK DREBIN !! I'll really have to scan them when they're at my place, also get 'em bagged and boarded.
  14. Ok,then let's try this shall we ? There are no Carl Barks or Disneys in my soon-to-be Four color collection. Most of it is Zorros,a few Wyatt Earps,a bunch of Mavericks, that kind of stuff. I've submitted a question in the Ask CGC section about how to send them to get them graded,i'm still waiting on the posting.
  15. Would it be frowned upon if i post books that are about to become mine and not scans but really good cover pictures.I have about 70 but maybe i'd post 10 and theyre all 2nd series ones.
  16. Btw,that prez character looks like it showed up at a lot of places. I also bought a beat-up Bob Hope and he's on the cover also !
  17. Well ,yesterday i got my very first taste in heading outside of Montreal with a buddy and going to see a pile of comics at some Antique dealer. These were all a buck each so its nothing out of this world but i'm happy to have made the trip. What you see here are the better ones but i also bought a lot of clunkers, drek and reading copies...boy did i buy a lot of reading copies. Gotta start somewhere right ?
  18. Those are all terrific covers Some guy is selling 12 Mary Marvel fanzines on ebay http://www.ebay.ca/itm/MARY-MARVEL-FANZINES-SET-1-12-COMICS-REPRINTS-SPECIAL-LIMITED-EDITIONS-/360450163212?pt=US_Comic_Books&hash=item53ec81020c Guess i should shut up now before anyone yells " Ok noob, lie on the couch and start telling us about your mom !"
  19. You'll forgive me if i post this but i find it extremely ironic that the word escrow in english and its french counterpart have two totally different meanings different spellings but same pronounciations escrow as in escrow service, and escroc which is basically a swindler or crook. http://dictionary.reverso.net/french-english/escroc
  20. You know fellas,im glad to see im not the ONLY one who sees Mary as sumtin special ! Guess with all those headlight girls, its refreshing to see a character that represents the quintessential wholesome girl. I'll take a Felicia Day or a Cali Lewis over a Megan Fox-type every time... Keep posting those Mary covers !
