  1. Very interesting - looks like you hit the "jackpot" in this deal gone wrong...
  2. Agree on all counts.....great looking list and easy to read. and i like separatig the two... (thumbs u I agree with JC that if the CS situation doesn't get resolved, he should go back on again for this fiasco. just too many folks PO'd not to result in some sort of "punishment" IMHO...
  3. I think it's safe to say that many of us are quite interested in what you and Dice have to say on this topic..............
  4. YUP - and I'll wait for Dice's report with pics before making up my mind. it'll all be about; 1. Amount of water damage. 2. number of DC/Marvel books. 3. any dupes in excess of 5 copies. 4. whether ANY copies of the books pictured in the sales thread (or similar) are included. 5. presence of any books (other than the Heroes packing copies) that grade VF or better.
  5. + 2 I'm not sure that I can side with the three last posters. I agree that at this point he deserves to be there, but since he has delivered the goods and it's about the disagreement over the condition and amount of books, he should be given the same courtesy offered to any other potential list member, and be given the chance to make it right. If he can work this out with the buyers who were unhappy, he should be given a reprieve...IMHO.
  6. I'd opine that this situation is basically just another variation on why the Probation list was created. If CS works out acceptable resolutions with the concerned parties, he keeps himself off. If he doesn't, he's on... And much like a seller who didn't deliver the goods, was nominated for the list and finally comes thru to keep himself off, some damage has already been done... Oh, and I apologize for having initially seemed to have sided with the seller after the first three or four reports. Filter's detailed recollection of the original deal has put this all in a much clearer light....
  7. Different expectations, I guess...the original posters description of what he expected seemed a bit beyond what was offered, IMHO...
  8. it would be interesting to hear from the other buyers of these boxes and get their take on the goods they received...
  9. That would be about $3750 downpayment. Did that change hands? Why did you (TFL) make comicseekers reimburse you for the $20 or so that you lost out on for him backing out due to his personal problems? I just don't get the double standards... folks, it is really plain and simple...this TFL made multiple statements that he would send payments/down payments for the HT and BROKE every one of them (from Dec all the way to May)... after 5 months, TFL did pay the Avengers 1, and I can see adam's point, at this point in time, he knew he was getting stiffed on the HT 1... human nature would be to want to hold the avengers as leverage...but, he quickly (unlike TFL's definition of quick=5months, adam's quickly (within 2 days) decided he would honor the payment on the avg 1 and shipped it overnight...before he did though, he told me that this TFL was going to stiff him/use this as an excuse to not honor his deal...and sure enough, he did TFL is trying to use a poor excuse, and should be put on the probation list, plain and simple... spin it anyway you want, you took advantage of the situation and then used adam's genuine concern over your lack of payments on the HT, to get out of paying for a book you had adam hold for you for 5+ months, and that adam lost another potential sale on... and, I find if ethically laughable that you, TFL, would extort $20 from another member, and then not see you did the same thing to adam on a MUCH larger scale... To me, this would seem to sum up the situation correctly... (thumbs u Maybe by the time i get to the end of this, all will somehow have been smoothed over, but I doubt it. And the concept of "Time payments over 16 months" meaning one has all 16 months to wait and pay is patently ridiculous IMHO....
  10. I've been thinking the same thig for he last 20 pages of this thread. at first I thought just getting on the list 3 times would be enough, but to acheive that, continue to ignore disgruntled clients AND continue to actively participate in the Market Forum, should be enough............ Perhaps i should have read this all to the conclusion first, so I apologize if he's finally come on here and satisfactorily explained his behavior..........
  11. If there are any Silver Age JUSTICE LEAGUE fans out there who can't quite afford Tim's stunning slabbed copies, I'll be listing Issues #1 - 10 ranging in grade from 4.5 - 8.0. They are all RAW and everyone was purchased by me back in the day at Sid's Luncheonette in Orange NJ. likely to go up tomorrow night if I can pick up a new computer or get the bride to give me more time on this one. Harry.
  12. Nice looking book, Jimbo - great colors... (thumbs u
  13. Bronze Bruce has confirmed what i saw this am, that the FF#1 which sold at auction on Clink (had an end date and therefore is "sold") for $15K+ is on GPA's database today... But what the hell drove this book to grab DOUBLE the price of the highest price in all of 2007?? Stop the insanity!!!! ......or not
  14. That's a pretty sweet looking copy and $68 seems like an insane deal to me......... that book probably guides around $300........ (thumbs u
  15. an interesting comparison, to be sure.........Ms Diaz looks like she could be fun...
  16. Hi SS; the JIM 83 has a piece missing on an interior page. according to CGC's notes it's in the margin area only and affects no artwork of any kind. I'm not even sure if it's a story page or not. Even with that info fully disclosed in a grading thread this past spring, the boards (44 responses) pegged this as a 7.5. It also has OW/White pages... I might resub one time and hope for the best, but it's not cheap for a book of this value...
  17. i hear and agree with your point, Tim. many of my OO books in the highest grades turned out to be among the most common HG books in a run. who knows why?!?!but there were a few exceptions on the other side as well. FF11 in 9.4 comes to mind immediately....
  18. Sorry, Rick - I meant the OTHERS were "decent" (8.0's - 9.0's). that 9.6 is one of only 4 of my DC's that acheived that grade. (Never had a 9.6 Marvel in the bunch ) Lot's of 9.4's though.......
  19. I have to agree that looks better than an 8.5, Bob.............
  20. Tim, Yup that's my Sid's Luncheonette copy...I've got that and a few other decent pre #30 copies and all of the 1-10 set still, but they're all midgrade...........seems that i read the 10 centers a bit more than the later issues..
  21. That book certainly looks better than a 3.0 to me, but without a better scan, a BC scan and graders notes, there could be a lot that we're missing.but, if the bulk of the defects are on the FC, i'd say this is one of those books that simply presents better then it's technical grade and would make a nice part of someone's collection.and, for some reason, that book is starting to take off.
  22. I promised Jimbo that i'd post this copy before i sent it off to CGC. First appearance of Doctor Strange (too bad he didn't make the cover - but for all you Paste Pot Pete fans......)
  23. Here's one for ya, Mac... Part of the Sid's collection but actually purchased at a small candy store in Chatham, NJ. I was earning money over the summer of 1963 working full-time on a Rug delivery truck. I was having no luck finding either this book or Avengers #1 (which i never did own), and then i found this one that day on our lunch break. I read it in the truck and am not sure how it survived both the trip back to the shop as well as back home??
  24. WOW, KC, that's some quick and huge ROI in a short time....
