Nice 60 year old books so far!!! Here are a few of my 1956 books; This may be the only one that I still own and actually bought off the shelf...

Yeah! It had Darrin Morgan written all over it! Man I must be getting further and further out of touch, but as a fan who saw every single Original X-Files, I thought episode 3 sucked the big one IMHO. I thought virtually every aspect of it sucked, the ultra cheesy monster costume, the laughable plot and acting, the overall silliness,etc... I was embarrassed to have been watching it and if the remaining three episodes follow suit will be glad it will be done in 6 episodes.

Holy Mackerel those are beautiful! Thanks for sharing them! Ditto!!! I can't ever remember looking at a group of books that made me smile this much... And the artwork is so well done and whimsical...

Great copy! Definitely in my Top 5 covers list. Here's mine. Beauties! That'n is on my Timley Toppers list as well! There's also a 9.4 copy lurking out there somewhere... Those are all lovely copies of a great looking cover. I'm going to have to break out the Gerbers and drool over those old Timely's...

It's funny - My eye was naturally drawn to the two female nudes all these years and I just noticed for the fist time that the two dudes closest to the bottom have badly singed wings. The innocent drawn to the flames of Evil...

That is a NICE looking Torch! I should have asked this before but has it ever been established who the "L" was on the cover. I thought i'd seen this before and even a thread about it years ago...

Don't believe I've ever posted here... Found some Pictures in my files of a few of the handful of GA books I own. (they are all restored but still pretty and cool). All American 19

I have never posted on this thread before (Mainly because I only have a couple of Timely's). And the only ones I do are restored, but since I came across these when browsing through my Picture Files, Why Not??

I thought Showcase 4 came out in early 1956 (March 1956 is the listing on the book). I didn't think it came out in 1955. I could be wrong though. My bad; It is a Sept/Oct 1956 book that would have reached the shelves in the Summer of 1956. I moved to Orange on Oct 1st 1956 a week before I turned 9...Probably why I still had it with me...

Sid's Luncheonette was in Orange NJ which is where I moved to just before my 9th birthday. It was called Jades at the time. Jimmies was a small candy store (sold Mike and Ike's loose 4 for a penny) around the corner from where we rented in East Orange (there's also a West Orange and South Orange, but I digress). That's where I purchased Showcase 4, Tec 233 and assorted Western comics (Two Gun Kid, Outlaw Kid, etc) and a Plasticman or two that I can remember. Only the Showcase and Tec made the move to Orange and were promptly lost or tossed out. The Restored Showcase 4 in the Pic was purchased by me at least a Dozen years ago and does look both natural and fresh. Don't know who did the work but it certainly presents well. It's still in it's original case, so i've never held it i hand. I use my extensive DC Archive and Marvel Masterworks Library to reread books that are now slabbed or have been sold.
