  1. They will never slip in value since they will never hit the market at those lower amounts. Tony and Kara Moore will keep the artwork before letting it go in a firesale. The biggest factor is that they do not care to actually sell any of it. not true - there was a brief period where he was selling pages - i believe on this very forum? or another i forget -- and he actually was putting them on ebay -- and they were going for less than 750 dollars -- his prices only jumped up in the last 2 years - and they went from around the $1000 range (reasonable) to the prices they are now -- they really havent had a gradual progression upward.. also that whole "i wont sell bc of principle" is a crock of -- he wont sell bc he wants more money - which i respect -- but if he is willing to sell for 5k, he is willing to sell for 500 -- introduce him to a crackpipe and he will sell it for a nicklebag. when times get tough - he will sell for less -- or who knows, maybe more.. i can tell you one thing - someone with a lot more money than me can come along and very well choke the market by buying every page from him -- im sure TM will sell the whole collection for a 100k payday...
  2. no question TMs art will always be more than CA -- his is just better, and earlier - which always means more money/value -- but I think the pages will slip in value -- or will just slip to such a small market of interest that maybe a few hundred people in the world will be interested in..but to a point...600..sure....1500..maybe...5000 for an ordinary page..no way.....maybe that range on a first appearance or memorable page from a memorialized scene (from the show or a movie or something)
  3. I disagree on the TM pages being reasonable - 5k is excessive for an interior page if it doesnt have a name even a non-comic guy will recognize...5k...thats quite the stack of cash there -- on a run of the mill page! ive spoken to quite a few people on this point - a few think the pages will be the new grail pages in 20 years - that they will be worth 30 grand plus -- i disagree - perhaps one, two, 10 of them may well be -- but - TM is not a pioneer of any particular style or revolution in the game - credit where it is due - he is a superb artist - but...he just happened to draw on a wildly successful comic -- remember - we are buying at the absolute apex of the series - i really dont see it sustaining this kind of momentum and following much longer - the blowover will happen after the tv series dies off in a few seasons, and after the movie -- take for example an artist like tommy castillo who in my humble opinion is better than TM -- his art from toe tags is still in the hundreds range -- why - bc the book wasnt all that great..artwork was fantastic though! who knows, it might spawn a 007 type following where every few years another installment comes out -- more likely - i think - as seen with the decline in quality of art and writing (IMHO) I think the series will be run to the ground in the next 25-50 issues...or 2-4 years which is my projection for when the artwork will take a rapid decline in price.. or - as other big books go - a new artist / spin off will come out to continue the series and keep it fresh...which still results in market sustainability for CA and TM art but I still dont think it will be to the same degree it is now.. its tough for me though - because i love collecting the artwork - i have an appreciation for it - even if it declines in value -- which is an internal struggle i am having between selling and buying.. look i hope i am wrong - it only helps us, people who got in early with artwork, the artists, and the industry as a whole if it continues on as strongly..
  4. yea - carl as a vegetable would at least make it easier for CA to draw and maybe focus more on other panels seriously though -- the show has really been a bit drawn out - and at times downright boring for me -- i think it speaks more towards the other dreck on tv than it does of the quality of the show that TWD is probably the best thing on TV.. i do think season 3 will be a monster season though - more artistic freedom, bigger budget, more trust from the networks...
  5. i know im just joshin around -- congrats on the massive sale!!
  6. should have held out for the $7,500 WTF did we not just finish talking about linking to ebay auctions!! GAH@!
  7. and more cool backgrounds -- nothing worse than panels without detail!!!!
  8. Apples to sad, sad oranges Mark..posting a direct link to your ebay auction, and posting information about an artist to sell his work (where I am not making a penny profit) isn't really comparable.. It doesnt matter much but I was actually privately asked by more than one boardie about where I got the story-boards from (before I told anyone I could get more) -- and from that, I had the idea to do fellow members a favor by trying to get more boards for more people -- Once that became a bit of an annoyance for me to have to ship things to a bunch of different people (as this was now the 2nd round of boards, so to speak) - I spoke with the artist who agreed that I can put his contact info on the board to let people email as they wanted.. I believe to have been pimped, there would be some financial gain by me..and as much fun as that profession may be - I enjoy my day job.. And also for the record - I never chimed in on your ebay post - personally, I think a rule about self-promotion is kinda stupid -- especially if the post relates to WD content.. I also tend to think that you get a lot more by being nice Mark...no need to throw words around like calling me a pimp.. Jerry
  9. 8, 33 36 (if anyone knows who has 36 I would be interested in knowing, would love an opportunity to buy it), 38 (which I sold like an insufficiently_thoughtful_person), 55, 69, 82, and 90.... also - in other news -- I know its been a week or two - I wanted to give an update about the production art -- I spoke with John and he said he could just ship everyone whatever they wanted directly so you can actually cut me out as the middleman completely - which I am happy to be cut out of to be honest -- shoot him an email (he may even have other pages I didn't know about - or other artwork you are interested in..) watkissart[at]yahoo.com I am going to PM this to everyone else too --- you should be able to grab the image that you wanted and let him know so he will reserve it for you! Jerry
  10. I havent really talked to him - his auctions are really poorly planned -- I figure it will wind up as better deals for other people! As a side-note I search for "walking dead" and then filter "newest first" and I always see his listed....
  11. the arrow panel was a terrible waste of space - even the arrow to the head wasn't drawn well - that was my fear about a month or so ago with WD artwork - it was almost like his death was disrespectfully drawn - I feel like the series is being run to the ground - I've actually stopped buying the comics..its a shame to grow old without grace =( I may catch some flack for this but i dont care - kirkman is a jerk for what he is doing to a series I really loved...and CA is being complicit by drawing such donkey-doo...i am sure the quality of art has been discussed -- and I am sure the end result was - whatever just get it out faster and we can sell it faster --
  12. not that anyone asked but...proportions are ridic...at least its an attempt at a good cover -- i like parts of it but i cant get over the proportions..
  13. id rather operate in person - cash in hand - but do it smart people - like with an intermediary in a public location like a library with cameras!!
  14. Someone with more experience please lend their expertise -- Is the OA linked to below drawn over a picture, like those covers from 93~ It really ruins the art for me - I was going to buy this double-page but I can't get over the picture underneath it -- its almost like CA is doing a color-by-number book.. http://www.splashpageart.com/GalleryPiece.asp?Piece=24311&ArtistId=84&Details=0&Mag=Walking+Dead&From=TDetail
  15. what you are seeing is probably someone who put a bid of a very decent offer...and someone was testing it...by increasing the bid and getting the message that the bid was not high enough to be the high bidder...thus drawing out what the current high bid is.. the end result is you see the same person biidding, but its really done automatically by ebay after that person put in that high offer
  16. Count me in for a charity auction - I'll auction off a nice WD zombie page ;D if someone is setting one up PM me and I'll figure out what to donate -- will also donate some other random OA..
  17. anyone see that photobucket was hacked ;x apparently 8000 "real" womens private photos were erm...made public. google search reddit photobucket for link....NOT SAFE FOR WORK actually, here it is on gawker....god I love the internet. http://gawker.com/ 3rd edit - I am praying to see a girl I know or dated...that would make my month. 4th edit - I know this is way way off topic, but its awesome, no?
  18. I agree with this. I'm disappointed to see that Adlard's work is regressing instead of progressing. It's up to him if he wants to go to the smaller page, use way less detail, black over faces in shadow, and limit his attention to character features so the reader can't really tell who is talking, or what is going on. I still look forward to the book, just not with as much enthusiasm as when the art and story were incredible. well said both of you..
  19. To say its venom isn't really fair Mark - we are poking fun, like school-kids -- take it with a grain of salt...All of us here still love Mr. Adlard's work, as evinced by our many, many purchases on your site. I have respect for Mr. Adlard - his work is at times, brilliant - unfortunately, in the same breath, his work is also at times barely apprentice level...while the cause of that disparity may be his rushed schedule or what have you - for lack of a better phrase, it is what it is..
  20. no no - its a WD 100 variant -- drawn by me - OA on sale for 10k. PM me if interested:
  21. Great you just gave Charlie Adlard his next cover - he will draw Rick on the hill and then it will be on splashpage for 6 grand.
