  1. This was a hell of an issue. I think this really moved up a notch in the storytelling department - Nick did a great job here, enjoyed it a lot.
  2. Ryan's actually pretty capable if you check out his stuff. With him doing an issue on MP at the same time, seems like he's getting a bit more exposure. That said, I can't imagine anyone as perfect for this content as Riley -- sad times.
  3. Maybe jj has some information. I talked to Jason a couple of times and he didn't really tell me why he left other than he's moving onto new projects. Not a huge deal, but I'm somewhat curious since given the monthly sales it was doing pretty well financially for the creators.
  4. As far as independents go (100+), Hellblazer just wrapped at 300, BPRD, Fables and Usagi Yojimbo come to mind. I'm sure there are more.
  5. Everyone will be a "fan" and "like it" when the price increases. (thumbs u
  6. Great commission, did he do that at the show? I'm going to miss him on this book
  7. For his latest round, I set up a commission on stretched canvas (so no CGC) and I got it at the end of January. He kept me in the loop throughout FWIW.
  8. Such a great page Pete, kicking myself that I didn't pick it up. (thumbs u
  9. I am not certain for how long or if/when Riley may return - maybe Nick can answer that. Ryan is also doing a fill-in for MP (#10).
  10. Ryan Browne. http://godhatesastronauts.tumblr.com/ http://www.nerdspan.com/interview-with-ryan-browne-of-god-hates-astronauts/
  11. I don't think he's untalented, but I don't think his style or vision for the book translate well at all. His covers also have a very synthetic, digital quality to them which isn't as good a match as Riley's more organic, rough style.
  12. I know Frazer Irving gets his share of flak in this thread for his covers (I can certainly see why given Rossmo's stuff), but I'll post this up anyway. Frazer did this during Thought Bubble for me, it's an extremely quick sketch but I figured I'll post it here since all we see from Frazer are his digitally created covers.
  13. I don't think it affects the thoughts of the actual story, however it may affect collectibility.
  14. Hilarious page, I've got a couple of new additions but I'll wait to post them until I have them in hand and can get nice scans.
  15. Personally, I find Nick's art and the subject matter to be a really unique and interesting body of work -- it may end up being worth about the same or less in the future but looking at my MP pages always brings a smile to my face. I completely agree with the post above -- if you enjoy the series, grabbing a page of OA seems a lot better than collecting slabs and it supports the artist directly (for the most part).
  16. Partly due to popularity, partly due to people getting them cheap from Nick and flipping them.
  17. If you follow Riley on FB you probably already saw this, but he finished this commission up for me recently. Basis was Jim Lee's Hush cover (one of my favorites) and Riley did a great job with it.
  18. Between this and the SS forum, it's quite entertaining.
  19. Most recent frame-up -- UXF #4 by Esad Ribic (purple linen + 8-ply white mats)
  20. That seems a little dramatic (but par for the course given this thread)
  21. Manhattan Project? He's just doing the one issue for MP afaik, but yep.
