Pedigree Bronze Horror Time!
As far as I know, the best (only?) early 70's pedigrees are the PC, Oakland, and Northland books, and here are a few for your critique:

Any Chance someone could PM me his newest Manitoba list? This email problem is driving me mad!!!!
Just post it here please!!
(or PM me too!)

There is one 5.0 on Comiclink for I think $3,200-$3,600 bucks. I'm assuming that's on the high side but not too bad a price for a great Marvel SA key.
That's on the very high side...check Metro's website and ask for scans, look around, take your time!

A round of Kudos (for some it's "yet another" round ) goes out to the following forum members for recent transactions:
greggy
'dogg
Donut
wormboy
shiverbones
nearmint
ImageMask
tkg2627
OldGuy
Zonker
Nikos (and make sure you use that one book in Grading Round 10 )
chrom
dlee111
bonds
Apotheosis
shadroch
And I'm not sure if he posts here, but I ordered some...you guessed it....Hulks...from Doug Sulipa that came in real quick, and real nice!

Here's a tough, black-covered 100 pager!
-
He's thinking "...it's a monstrosity...", she's thinking "If true, this could fulfill my wildest fantasies..." as she lifts the covers to find out...
-
Kudos to Doc Banner for another nice Hulk comic!
Glad you liked it...and as I don't recall whether I commented on it last time, I previously picked up some high-grade raw Hulks from Aces that were accurately graded, so if you're interested in any of his books I say this to his grading - .
-
Kudos to Banner on a nice trade we just made. Helped me plug a hole in my FF run w/ a nice, solid VF w/ sweet, sweet pages! Thanks Doc!
Back atcha!!
Chris helped me plug a hole in my HoS run w/a great looking copy that CGC calls a 9.0, but I call shweet!

Who did this one?

Super DC Giant S-20 - Adams Cover
I have that in CGC 9.2....
Sounds good, PM me with the total w/shipping and I'll PP you asap!!
-
Sorry...but is untouchable until I upgrade. I'll can find a HOM 225 faster than a Super DC Giant S-20.
-
New copy isn't much better, so I'm still interested in yours for that HOM 225...
Not a "fee" per se, but more of a "consideration" ya know!
-
Sounds like a Finder's Fee for Shiver....
We're working on it!!
-
Nice! First Cain cover!
Really? I didn't know that! See...that why I hang around here. The people here are like having an encyclopedia of comics knowledge right at your fingertips!
Jim
Me either, thanks! Just had to update my new marketplace listing as this is one of the books I've been able to upgrade recently and my undercopy is now available...

I rest my case!
And in all seriousness, there was an entire thread devoted to deciding which custom title to give me. JC Superstar, Mr. Crash, etc. were bandied about, but I stated that I didn't want one, and really have no interest in this banal activity.
Now as for if Arch would have actually given me one, if I hadn't nixxed the idea... now that's a whole different story.
Not to name names, but why in the world with someone with no interest in this banal activity carry this sig line?
"I find it highly amusing, that through over 7,000 posts, I still have yet to get a Custom Avatar Sig"
-
I think all the people repeatedly crying about not getting a custom title should be inducted into the "Crybaby Crew", and forever carry that as their custom title!
If "crying" is taking part in the thread, then welcome to the Crew!
I rest my case!

BIG KUDOS FOR ARCHIEFAN. I just purchased an Archie #1 from him, and everything went smoothly. Very good packing and excellent speed on shipping.
That sounds like a Cigar book to me!
Double-kudos go out to sterlingcomics (for 2 out of the last 7 Spidey upgrades on my current wantlist ) and marvelous, who helped me pay for the Spideys with a seamless purchase of some of my gems, thanks guys!
-
Well, one day I hope to sell the comic, but in the shape it's in now, it really needs some work... You can see it here:
http://www.howardhallis.com/restoration
Of course, I would never attempt to scam anyone, and would always inform any potential buyer that restoration was done.
If you're going to get those chips replaced, they're going to be noticable as the color in the repaired areas won't have the "dot matrix" print pattern found on early marvel covers. Also, the brown is going to be tough to duplicate. I'd be curious to see what Matt has to say about the color/pattern match.
Can anyone provide a close-up scan of a piece replacement on an early marvel where this issue was relevant? FF's FF 3 perhaps?
-
No more stories guys? I think it would be cool to have a thread that contained a bunch of little snippets of how we have all been scammed with restored books and bogus high grades, and how/if they were resolved. I could be a learning experience for a bunch of us. ---Sid

...rubbed my thumb over the spot, and sure enough, some black easily came off.
I still have one of the books and will give it the "thumb test" this evening and let you know... (pun intended! )
