  10. I have a pet theory that may explain some of the (perceived) skewing of numbers: there are some decent collections from people who amassed their collection in the 60's-70's even into the early 80's, who have since left the hobby. Maybe they forgot about it, life took them elsewhere, they have let the collection collect dust, maybe think about it as their kids inheritance - in other words the people who made up some of the demand for GA semi Keys or have nice books that would today be slabbed in a second have quietly stayed on the sidelines. Maybe in 10 years as these collections come back in the market we'll see some nice Fawcett or Fiction House collections, or groups of "rarer" books, come out and the census will evolve?
  11. woowoo thats the one - it will be interesting to see what it goes for . . .
  12. Spoke to an auctioneer in the business and he said he has a buyer for coverless with center page in the $75K+ range, so nice complete copy, everything attached, nice page quality . . . in the neighborhood of $100K maybe in present market
  13. He also has $30 books for sale - so he may just have a template for all of his listings (though why he wouldn't pay a little more attention to details like that???). If one of you buys the book, it would be interesting to hear how the payment is arranged, if you are willing to divulge (small, unmarked, non-sequential bills?)
  14. I agree they are crazy for using PayPal and trusting that the eBay platform is robust enough to handle this transaction - but then again how did eBay handle the Action 1 9.0 they sold a while back? I know Comicconnect bought it, so there wasn't any issue of returns, shill bidding, etc. but did they put any protections in place for that transaction?
  15. Dark Knight, Thanks for the response. I'm curious about the valuation - specifically in relation to the recent sale referenced in this thread of the copy sold on Heritage. That one had great page quality, but was trimmed, pages separated, and binder holes and, if I recall, also was missing the center pages. The one I posted is attached except for first wrap but with poorer page quality. Why is the Heritage one worth so much more? I'm not trying to be facetious, I'm genuinely curious. Thanks again.
  16. I'm not sure of CGCs definition of brittle, but the interior pages feel supple to me. First wrap you can see is pretty well used and has some pieces hanging off or gone. Then again, to me brittle means it won't bend and if bent too far the paper will snap or crack. That is not the case here. That's why I show a picture of some interior pages so you can see what the entire book looks like.
  17. Sorry to be late to the discussion, but I have a theoretical question: What would this coverless Tec 27, first wrap loose, missing center wrap, be worth? No tape, restoration or water damage/rust. Asking for a friend . . .
  18. Actually. . . Look at Action 1, the census lists the PAGES CGC has encapsulated! I'm not sure why they did it for that comic and not others (maybe it has? None for Tech 27 but there is an ecapsulated center wrap for sale on Comicconnect).
