  1. I didn't realize golden-age DCs had similar chipping to the Marvels, at least it won't affect the grade much.
  2. http://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryRoom.asp?GSub=19591 sweet! I don't know why, but I really like the Byrne's Darkseid stuff.
  3. Hey nice! I was watching them and was going to try for them but in the end figured I already had enough Byrne Darkseid pages. They're great pages for sure! You have Byrne Darkseid pages
  4. Bill, Smoking books! Hydroman is one of my favorite off-the-beaten-path superheros from the golden-age. I really like teh cover art and the Mile High looks plan sweet!
  5. I just picked up this copy of Aquaman. My Grandma brought it home from a grade school where she worked as a janitor. The teachers threw them out at the end of the school year so Grandma would bring them home for me and my cousin.
  6. I'm slowly working on 50-100.... real slowly. I'm not even close; Timelys keep getting in my way. I'd like to pick up a pre-Robin that's not too shabby lookin' . That was my goal for last year, a clean pre-Robin Detective but I ended up snagging a Byrne cover instead (which I don't regret). This year, I hope to snag at least 20 more Detectives I need but so far none ... Last year, 29 hello all... my kind of guys...congrats to both!... I had thought about expanding and get 54-100, but have yet to committ... rick I must strongly recommend you avoid going after the 54-100 run. (need to minimize the competition!)
  7. Darn, I love that stuff. I especially like how low the prices are on it!

  9. That is a spot on pretty book! One of my favorite Covers in the entire run. A recent purchase? I like the cover, but why is Batman running away from the crooks? I think he's just walking backwards to intimidate them. Maybe he is really wants to avoid exposing his backside to Robin?
  10. Thanks. I picked it up in 99' and it has a letter stating it's the Big Apple from All Star. The Big Apple had some really nice books in it. I have two Green Hornets both with white pages. The 50 is one of those covers I have always loved and I still need for my collection ... The paper quality is real nice... just a little rust on top staple and the problem with the BLFC. I'm working on a run of detectives myself. This is probably my favorite. The other one I really like is 44. Fortunitely I have a copy of it. How close are you to finishing the run? I need a ton. The bulk is before issue 300. I have been focusing on the ones from ~70 to 300 right now but definitely slowed in the past several months as I have cut way back on buying and also done some big artwork pick-ups.

  12. Just purchased this one. I love the Batman Animated artwork and especially go for the ones with large images of Batman or the Villians. You can't get much bigger than this double page splash.
  13. That is a spot on pretty book! One of my favorite Covers in the entire run. A recent purchase?
  14. They look lovely together! Bill, dude, I thought we were friends? And what do you do, go off selling my Detectives to someone else? Nice group of Detectives. I really want to do some group shots of my junk soon.
  15. I broke down and bought my first CGC slab of the year. This book has been on my want list for about 15 years. Price was down right a steal!
  16. I think you got a smoking deal. Nice clean copy, decent pages plus no shipping cost! Very cool. You know, what is wrong with a nice clean affordable 7.0? I say NOTHING!
  17. What? no 33? and you call yourself a collector! Just kidding
  18. "Embarrassed" is not a logical word to use when receiving a Detective 31, Mister! Please put yourself on report... STEVE My apologies Admiral, I will do as you say. Bill, Can I just say, I hate you! Unless you remember me should the Detective 31 ever need to find a new home. Where did you get it, how much and is it restored? I know, I know, nosy, but I have to know. Some of us are forced to live through others ... It has extensive resto, which makes it "affordable" (if a Tec 31 can ever be thought of as affordable)! Pages are very nice. It came from our own Filter81. Thanks Bill. Congrats, looks great!
