I actually dig it.  Reminds me of the late Darwyn Cooke, of which I was a big fan of.

Cho's a very cartoony artist, similar to Bruce Timm.
    But, he's done better.
From the POV of a minimalist style, and given the powers of the character, it's not bad.

The market played itself when it decided that paying an average of 5x more for a 9.8 over a 9.6 was reasonable; now that's just shifting to 9.9/9.8.
If 9.9 is the new 9.8, most 9.8 holders will be too busy playing the 9.9 resub lottery to complain, and when that 1 in 10 lands for big bucks, all will be forgiven.
If you don't like it, stop collecting labels.

It’s not an outlandish theory.  9.9s are so rare right now that you have to wonder why anyone would pay for a 9.9 pre-screen when a book in that class is likely to be a 9.8 anyway.  But if the 9.9s suddenly see a sizable uptick, driving 9.8 prices down…
I was hoping the Blackstone acquisition wouldn’t lead to money grabs like this, but here we are.  Glad I cashed in all my mints long ago.

Sheesh. Those can't even be explained away by that "grading is subjective" mantra that's thrown around here ad nauseam.

I don't know the answer to your question, but I would bet my house the number of 9.9s is going to dramatically increase.

What grade is "appropriate for you" and what's correctly graded are two different things. You're more than welcome to feel it's not a 9.9, nor will you ever be bidding on it, but that doesn't change the fact CGC felt being a manufacturing flaw it should correctly not detract from the grade.

The GSX color rub and indent damage at the staple take it way out of 9.9 for me.
It seems this gifted grade and auction publicity came with much needed good press for CGC.  As long as you don't look too closely.  Probably a behind-the-scenes story to this that we won't know.
That aside, it was a case of CGC wanting this book to be a 9.9 and put in the right auction hands, than the book actually being 9.9

Id like to hear CGCs reasoning for not following their own guide to grading with the X-Men 9.9 then.

    Should be interesting.

Actually -  in the CGC Guide to Grading Comics by Matt - they do state that miswraps peak at 9.8

Would you let your (hypothetical) daughter hang out with someone with as many allegations as him, or do you think it would be unfair of you to make such a judgement call and hold such an opinion?

I haven't misread anything at all. If you find yourself disagreeing with me, perhaps you should revisit the details and maybe determine where you went astray. I'm just not a big fan of insensitivity, yours included. How about you go play in the traffic? GOD BLESS ...

Unless I’m missing something I think you have assumed the insinuation where none exists. No one in this thread has done this in my opinion.  Most just aren’t willing to blame her (regardless of how we judge her actions) for what he has done to himself.  There are no winners.

I have zero interest in a rhetorical debate on this but I'll just say that I have no idea what you mean by this as creative expression doesn't usually have a specific "historical direction".

I think trying to assess a person's psychology from such a minimalist, arm's-length approach is not very constructive.

Jesus wept, gross...hand waiving away her possible victimhood because it doesn't match your own notions of what rises to that definition is certainly a choice - she felt manipulated enough, as did other women, to come forward to raise a red flag (often the ONLY recourse women feel they have when there isn't anything outright illegal, whether it was the right decision is a separate beast). Regardless of what societies 'allow' does not mean it is correct or just - the average age of consent in the world is 14-16 but I personally don't think that makes it right for an adult to be involved just because it's legal. Just because she sought him out first, or made spicy art, doesn't mean she should have known what was coming to her or is any less a victim. Maybe you would like to also question what she was wearing at the time when he decided to DM her?

Were people calling him a pedophile wrong, yes, and were there people who took it too far and harassed him online, of course (in that case he was a victim over a news/online cycle that overreacts and feeds into itself) but this nitpicking of the victim involved really evokes the tired & problematic myth of the perfect or ideal victim.

I don't think that happened.  And what I find to be an indictment on the state of internet culture is the current trend of twisting (or fabricating entirely) "facts" to fit an agenda.  But feel free to prove me wrong with a link to such a post.
Now what I have seen is on various message boards and subreddits is things like "posts denigrating the accusers will be removed."  (Different statement, obviously.)  And I just now looked on r/comicbooks, and what I see, and which anyone can go right now and fact check, is an 852 comment thread with a lot of posts echoing sentiments being expressed here and in support of Ed.  Those posts have not been removed and those posters have not been banned.  I think you'll be okay.

There are so many examples, I have trouble believing you never encountered one. I just gave you one of the most famous examples: The Central Park Five in NYC - a national story for years. I can cite you many many examples. Any attorney, especially prosecutors and criminal defense attorneys, can cite such examples - even just a civil litigator like me. I cannot believe that you are truly trying to deny the problems of wrongful convictions based on cross-racial eyewitness identifications or are ignorant of the many examples innocent people sent to jail based on bad identifications that ultimately are exonerated by DNA and other evidence, including confessions by the true perpetrators. What state are you in?
