  1. So how will this 'live' Spider-verse actually work? Any clues welcome, as it just seems like flashbacks to me. Saw Michael Keaton around as The Vulture elsewhere - he should come back as well. Keaton and Tomei have been excellent
  2. Just finished the (?1st - depends on where this show goes) Miller arc. Totally did the book justice. "You can't take 'The Razorback'. She's Gone. Gone. Gone." Brilliant show.
  3. Yeah on season 2 now - Totally loving the show though - some changes make it better than the books, some worse, so it evens up. Book 9 is out in 2021 - so I'm a little confused if / how Laconia events take place. Unless they backflip and add 2 more seasons instead of one?
  4. Season One was great. Defo shortened - Eros was the right place to stop. Season 2 tomorrow. Can't wait to see if they do the Eros / Venus / Ring arc.....
  5. God Damn. It's almost word for word from the books. And the casting - I 'recognised' Holden, Nagata, Amos and Alex before they spoke. Perfect choices. Thomas Jane nails Miller already. I can see why you all raved about it. I'm on annual leave, I have a huge coffee pot on a hard burn and I'm binging! Great show!
  6. Of course - the worst result with a spec book is the TV show gets made and it's utter pants. $1339 to $158. Ouchie. 7. Big shout out to Ken "we're being bought up by Disney, and we're gunna be rich" Kristiensen - who disappeared off the boards after it fell through. I still have one, but only because I had Danny "Machete" Trejo sign it - yellow label (Trejo did the front cover inscription) Todd, the Ugliest Kid on Earth (2013), No. 1, Image Comics Total books sold76High/Low price recorded$231 / $26 Year Number High Low 2020 4 $70 $26 2018 4 $50 $36 2017 5 $88 $45 2016 5 $75 $36 2015 12 $99 $40 2014 24 $231 $70 2013 22 $175 $36
  8. Some hold reasonably steady, even after being a typical Image cancellation (Hi Eric ) - very unlucky as French TV did a show called 'Les Revenants' - before revival got made. Very unlucky timing here. 9. This was one I could never figure out. BBC promo's with Ron Perlman, Elijah Wood and Summer Glau (all confirmed as cast) - then nada, zilch, zip. It was right there, promo made, not too bad a story. They ended up crowd-sourcing to finish it. People still buying it - just in case. I bought 5 x 9.8 slabbed for $70 before the BBC announcement - still hold highest sale price at $668 - so I did well. I'd hate to be the guy who PAID the $668. Thats the trouble with moderns...... 11. More TPB's Non-comic seller on ebay of all places. Offered quite a low figure, he accepted. Shipping was very high so I asked if i could use my own courier account. Yes, was the reply. I had a voucher from the courier from a previous stuff-up, so shipping was free, and a $5 off ebay voucher too. Total cost - $42 after using both. Infinity Gauntlet and Old Man Logan should cover that - rest is gravy. Small profit, but every little helps toward a nice book later next year.
  12. So finished book 8 - Book 9 (last one) is scheduled for Oct 2021. I'm about to start watching the show. Hopefully there are a few changes, or is it 100% faithful to the books? No show spoilers please if it's different!
  13. If I had either - I'd sell them both. $15,000 for ASM #300 + ASM #101 in 9.8? 2 Years ago, you'd be under the care of Nurse Ratched for thinking about such prices. There are so many other books I'd buy instead, and feel comfortable that I wouldn't lose my shirt if things went south. You can still get a Hulk #1 in 4.0 - 4.5 for the same money.....
  14. Nothing flash DC Hardback Novels collection - 47 in total, 75% still sealed - $200
  15. Ugh. Hopefully that was the shows 'stinker' episode out of the way. Still, that stinker was better than most current sci-fi shows, but besides Dettmer finding her balls again, I'm not sure the show advanced too much. 5.5 /10
  16. Again, only my opinion but with 23,500 on the census and 1350 of them being 9.8, then it's not a hard book to find. They threw Tom Hardy at Venom, and the movie bombed, so I guess this is one comic that is actually driven by Venom itself, not "Venom - The Movie". So, yes, I think this is a book that will always have a market - where you set the 9.8 price is an individual call. Personally - I think $4000 - $5000 is too much. There are a ton of unslabbed ASM #300's out there (plus 10 x 9.9 already). I'd be comfortable at the price it was 4-5 years ago. Your mileage may vary!
  17. Eventually there will be a down-turn across the board. We saw it with AF#15 and eventually it will affect every book. Sixth Gun, Peter Panzerfaust, Chew, etc etc are all great examples of $500+ books now being , well, NOT $500 books anymore. The wheat will separate from the chaff, and the books with solid pedigree and history will bounce back (ala AF #15), and the filler / spec / one-shot movie books won't. I guess it's a decision for all to make individually. Will Deadpool Last? - if so - under-valued. Batman that Laughs? - if so - undervalued X-Men Dark Phoenix - if you think X-Men #101 is a $4000+ book in 9.8, then keep it. You get my drift. I have confidence in 1st Thor, X-Men, Hulk, Spidey, + Batman keys etc to survive a hefty downturn and recover. Spiderman #101 ($9200 in 9.8 last sale) + X-Men #101 ($4200 last 9.8) - well, I don't want to be holding THOSE babies during a crash. It's a judgement call, always has been, but nearly $10,000 for Spidey #101 is bonkers. And unsustainable. So if you were thinking of culling the herd, now may be a good time.
  18. Not some of the people I've woken up next to.....
  19. The huge irony is that Discovery is exactly what you wish for! The Bridge crew are male/female/straight/gay/black/white/asian - and not a mention of it in the writing. Gay couples are just crew. Black women are just crew. Disfigured crew are just crew. There hasn't been a single mention of 'struggle' or 'injustice' or 'discrimination' - they simply are gay / black/ white / female / disabled people who happen to crew a Starship. It's just the norm, and works very well. Problems start, as you say, when it gets forced on you. I'm grateful Discovery doesn't do that. I'm confident that Mount and Romjin will just be white people who happen to be Captain and XO. However - it is a strange way to describe new crew members - I suspect the emphasis was from the writers of the article NOT CBS (The Illuminerdi - whoever they are)
  20. Maybe I have things set up differently, I dunno. I enjoy finding collections of things to sell, be they comics, TPB's, Heavy Metal or even Playboys. This is my hobby. I hunt for the fun of it. I (wierdly) enjoy the listing and selling of these items and learning about what i have bought. So here's the difference - I only buy comics out of the profit. So a comic costs me $0. It costs time, but again - this is my hobby. I have a small collection - less than 60 books - some I sold to finance not working whilst my wife went through cancer treatment and the aftermath of a stroke (some of you probably remember me being quite a pain on here - now you know why) - and home adjustments. But besides time, these cost me nothing. My wife is better (as she will get) so I'm back at work, and back at my hobby. This hobby has got me stuff like AF #15, Tec #36, #38, #58, #66 and DD #1 for example - for the cost of my time, time which I have enjoyed. I read mostly moderns, and have a few slabbed because I like them, not for $$ But the rest - purely bought as they are 'blue-chip' books. If the market crashes - then I lose $0 If not, upon retirement, I'll probably sell and ensure I top up our pension funds. I'm mid-fifties so another 15 yrs of working until I want to retire (67 here, but will go up to 70 soon, I'm sure) - and whilst I enjoy "The Hunt" - I'll still search, buy, sell and then use the profit to add to my collection. I totally understand the worry of having thousands of books - most of which are financially worthless, but emotionally very dear to you - so if you feel that way - downsize, sell and move on. Life is short My wife had a stroke in her early 40's and has been battling cancer for 14 years - we know how short it can be, so make the most of it. Life is not a dress rehearsal. I wish you all well
