  1. Aw, man, I had totally picked out the one I'd send. I've got a dupe of this one, and it's relatively low grade for a Church, so I decided it would be worth shipping off to you, because I'd really like the Church All-American #4.
  2. Star Comics generally have some of the worst covers of any Centaur run (unless you like vaguely humorous cartoon), but this Phantom Rider issue is an exception. Here's my copy: Also, the earliest Star Comics are generally scarcer than other Centaur or pre-Centaur runs from the same time period. I've got only 1 more Amazing-Man, 1 more Keen Detective Funnies, and 1 more Funny Picture Stories left to close out each of those long runs, but I'm missing like 10 Star Comics.
  3. Call. Ok, show me what you got. Church KDF on the line.
  4. Sure! I feel pretty comfortable agreeing to that bluff.
  5. Dude, it totally sucks that your Denver copy is trimmed. Sorry to hear that.
  6. With this pick-up, I'm down to only two more books needed to finish off the All-American #2-#16 run. If anyone has an All-American #4 they'd be willing to part with, let me know.
  7. **sigh** and to think this is the closest I'll ever get to a copy ... I'll be getting a good bit closer to it.... For those of you who don't know (many already do), I pay october (who lives a few blocks away from me) to scan, grade, check for restoration, bag/board, and box every book I own. So when I get new stuff in, he's the first guy to handle it, and he gets to read everything (if he wants to). And when the new stuff is nifty, he gets as psyched as I do (if not more, sometimes).

  9. Not to flood the board with images (it usually drives me nuts when someone posts 8 images in one post), here are my 8 Funny Pages Arrow covers, in order:
  10. All right, twist my arm..... Another big shout out to The Man, buttock, for this beaut, which officially completes my run of Funny Pages covers featuring the Arrow:
  11. Those are excellent pick-ups! Really classic formative early GA superhero stuff in both of those.
  12. I wish one day my collection is so vast that I forget I own a book like that. And if it was forgotten, then I'm sure Bill will argue that you might as well go ahead and sell to to him. Right Bill? There's nothing like finding a book you'd love to own already in your collection. I find books I'd love to own already in your collection all the time, actually.

  14. You guys can learn a lot from this buttock fellow, STEVE. And to be fair to buttock, I made an enormous offer to him. Virtually un-turn-down-able. You guys should definitely let me make you similar offers, STEVE.
  15. Speaking of scarce, here's a recent pick-up. Enormous thanks go out to board member buttock for letting me overpay him for this book:
  16. I can't begin to describe how tough this book is. Actually, I can, with my scarcity index, but I haven't done AMF yet. I imagine it's a 27 or 28, at a minimum. I'm very impressed and jealous, and the only reason why I'm not PM-ing you a huge offer for it is that I know such an effort would be useless.
  17. That's a tough book, and I'd be very happy with a moderately restored copy just like that. Now crack it out and enjoy the stories and the off-white pages! You'll find that you like it even more without the purple label.
  18. Anyone who doesn't put column #1 first should get a strike from the mods. I think column #5 goes last because that Double Action is just a fake mock-up, and the other three books don't have enough oomph to sustain the grouping.
  19. Nice! I've never seen that one before. I've got to admit, I haven't looked at Super-Magician much, but the covers I've seen have been pretty cool. Kind of like Super-Mystery that way. Here's a recent pick-up:
  20. Yup, it's New Adventure #27. The toughest book I know of. Wasn't there a copy for sale in Verzyl's Comic Heaven auction this past fall? I bid very hard on it (I thought), but didn't win.
  21. Yeah, make sure to PM me your address. I'll get that right out. It'll probably arrive on a Sunday, just FYI.
  22. Agreed - CM, do you have a scarcity index for New Comics? STEVE Yup, and although I don't have it with me (it's on my work computer), I remember that New Comics #3 is the scarcest of that 11-issue run. The New Adventure run includes the only book I've yet come across that scores a top-ranked 30, the simply perfect combination of impossible to find and relatively expensive. It's not Ian's famous New Adventure #26, either.
  23. Serious question? All Original Comics? Jack Winner!! Yup, just inside the front cover is a long text piece about All Original Comics and how that's what's on everyone's minds these days (i.e., in the mid-1930's). It's a fun book. I'd love to find an upgrade copy, but I'm not holding my breath.
  24. I think this is the toughest of the New Comics, even tougher than #2. Big no-prize for whomever correctly answers what "AOC" is!
