  1. Very nice, Stephen. It's priced at "Call" on your web site. I'm guessing, what, $5000? $5500? Lucky for my wife, I've already got a copy. Whew.
  2. That Wow Comics #4 is an unbelievably difficult book to find. Very impressive.
  3. Here's a Church copy that just leaps off the page at you:
  4. Ha! I forgot, it's a double cover. The interior one is super nice. Thanks Andy.
  5. And here's another with the similar blue background, 44 issues earlier: I like the logo on this one.
  6. I guess this is technically early Silver, but I think the mid-to-late 1950's Wonder Woman books are so tough to find that I consider them late Gold instead. Here's a recent pick-up:
  7. Man, I can't get over this back cover. I wish I had a low grade copy to read to my 3 year old daughter. Just based on this, without having seen the interior, I'm sure she'd love it! Very impressive, BZ.
  8. Nice! There are far less noble goals than collecting 1938-1940 Lou Fine Fox covers. Great job!!
  9. Here's one that's been eluding me for a while. These oversized early Star Comics are tough. This one's got a wacky book-burning cover by Winsor McCay's son:
  10. I really like this little set. I've never collected them, but every time I see one I think I should start. Nice!
  11. Nice book. Underrated minor key, and your copy is brilliant.
  12. Man, what a killer cover. You sure know how to find the obscure gems!!!
  13. I agree. FFB is clearly one of the board's truly greatest posters.
  14. Here's my new complete run of Detective Eye, thanks to a couple of great board members. Around 255 Centaurs down, 34 to go!
  15. You guys probably know I'm not a huge Silver Age guy (my bad, I know), but I couldn't be more thrilled about this recent pick-up:
  16. Good eye! Yes, I picked that and the Headline #8 both up last week in NYC. Andy was stopped dead in his tracks by the Hitler image, so I traded it to him this weekend in exchange for all his hard work scanning/grading/organizing my collection the past months. He deserves more than that, honestly, as he's done a tremendous job on what has been a long hard task, but after the reaction the Hitler cover got I'm gonna start being a bit stingier!!!! If you look on Metro's site you'll find other "int" "Francis Turck" books, typically in 6.0-8.5 condition from around 1944, although some (like this Catman) are in worse shape. There have been other "int" books from many other years found as well, as it seems to be a distributer code from somewhere in NY state, if not the whole NE U.S.
  17. I like that Speed and that Jumbo very much, Mr. Bedrock! Excellent, excellent colors on those. The Hangman doesn't really do it for me (the art seems a bit crude), but I know that's a popular series with quite a few folks and is always in demand. Speaking of crude artwork, here's another "int" book from Metro, Catman #18. I think this is one of the tougher issues. I don't believe the scan is blurry; I think that's simply poor registration towards the bottom of the copy itself (can you confirm that, Andy?).
  18. Wow!!!!!! Thank you, Scott, for taking the time to write down your experience in such detail. It was awesome to read (twice!). I'm so happy to hear that Mr. Flessel seems to have had such a happy life, and that he's been able to share it with his wife of SEVENTY years. I'm also very happy to hear that the other residents of his community are aware of how great he is, and that he's physically still able to share his talents. I imagine most 95 year old men have failing eyesight or crippling arthirtis or are just plain dead. Keep me posted and I'll do whatever I can to make my schedule fit.
  19. I'm not sure whether that post was being facetious or not, but as someone who's made a living as a contrarian, I agree 100%. I wouldn't be buying a Detective #28-#37 right now with someone else's money (much less my own).
  20. Here's a book that had been a thorn in my side for a while, especially every time adamstrange posted his Church copy. So I had to track down the Larson (with help from RyanH):
  21. Luckily there are good people in the hobby who are willing to help out a youngster! It's a symbiotic relationship, I think.
  22. I'm telling you, dude, for a guy as young as you are, you sure have great instincts on what books to pursue!
  23. Now THAT's impressive! Nice Pep's, Bangzoom! I like the #3, #9, and #13 especially. WELCOME TO THE BOARDS!!
