  1. cripes, my LCS has these in multiples in the $1 bin that i won't pick up after getting stuck w/ one set. It didn't sell. Looks like it did? That's either total eBay BS or quite the reporting gap . . . I lean toward the former, although now it's gospel.

  3. The Corben cover alone is worth the price of admission.
  4. Whether you agree with it or not, it says right there: ads, articles in news magazines, and other such non-story content = "first time that a character appears anywhere" "...in a comic book." is implied. Because that's what we're talking about. They clearly didn't feel the need to specify that they weren't talking about original art or concept sketches. Lots of other definitions could also be twisted if you didn't take the "in a comic book" implication along with them. I think "in a comic story" would be more accurate, as there are characters whose first appearance was in a magazine (e.g. Starlord or Rocket Racoon) or graphic novel (e.g. New Mutants), and it would be disingenuous to call their first appearances in a comic a first appearance without the qualifier regarding format. I thought New Mutants first appear in an issue of Amazing Heroes. And before you say that it's only a preview how do you account for the cover. According to some people here that issue cannot be their first appearance. But they are on the cover. Many of the board members who disagree are saying that the first appearance needs to be in a story discounting the fact that many collectors buy comics only for the cover art ( see AH! and others) Can you say that the issue is a first cover but not a first appearance. I think not. If we just follow Overstreet's long standing and easy to understand definition there is no problem and we can then call Marvel GN Novel 4 their first appearance in a comic story. and New Mutants 1 their first comic book appearance. The easiest thing to understand is that Overstreet's longest used definition is "THE COMIC BOOK PRICE GUIDE" in very large letters on the front cover. Apply everything you read inside it to COMIC BOOKS. Or is that too easy? Y'know that's the very first thing I thought when this was brought up . . . . context!
  5. Mods just might be where it's at . . . I snagged one of these for 25 cents in NM the other day. I have never seen this book in the wild. I'm not selling though despite the temptation to flip for a nice payday. Nice listing you have there though. No one appreciates how tough this book is to find until they start looking. I found one back when I was reading JSA and it took me a couple of years. His book will sell well although I would have done a BIN on it. I think I have only found 2 copies in 7+ years of looking on and off. Yeah, I knew I had a copy once it was brought to my attention, because one of my long-boxes has a complete run of the title (completely unread, but only one copy of each issue), a title I never really paid any attention to, and hadn't yet moved to Mylar.

I think I have only found 2 copies in 7+ years of looking on and off. There was a BIN on it, but I thought $48 was a fair opening price. At 250 hits and 14 watchers, I think it might get a couple-two-three more bids . . .
  7. Mods just might be where it's at . . . Bad typo in your listing. People won't be able to find it. Yes, most annoying . . . And, of course, eBay is inflexible on even correcting a typo . . . I may cancel and restart, but it does have 121 views and 12 watchers.
  8. A typical closet can hold at least a dozen short boxes... with 125 copies each. That's 1,500 copies. Anyone with a closet full of Hulk 180s is already rich. Pssst, hey bud, I got yer Hulk 180 right here!
  9. Exactly, and I always imagine these poor deluded fools with a closet-full of Hulk 180's thinking.. "just a few more years and everyone will accept this as his first appearance and I'll be rich! Hahahahahaha!" As someone who's main goal is to collect all sorts of comics rather than sell I can tell you that if anyone is doing that then it's pretty dumb. That doesn't mean that having a stack of Wolverine's true first appearances isn't desireable. Just take out the aspect of profit for a second. I know that is tough around here but not everyone is hear to make a buck. I want 180, 181, and a host of other Wolverine keys ( yes that includes 80 and that Foom issue) in my collection. Sometimes I have to have a comic only for the cover knowing that the story is cause once and a while the art or image is all that matters. But I also want the ones that are worth nada but are key to the history and development of the character. Just don't tell me that cause people place more value on one book over another that it replaces the truth. (Changes name to MrParallelUniverse)
  10. I'd be brave as a blizzard I'd be gentle as a lizard I'd be clever as a gizzard If the Wizard is a Wizard who will serve? If I only had the nerve.
  11. Not in my mind . . . but I wouldn't hesitate taking $$$ for them.
  12. yes, lots of people. So far, at least two. Make it 3. I have a complete set of Overstreets and I'm proud of that. At least I think I'm proud of that.... 4 - I use my spiral-bound Big Book all the time for reference (the print's larger ) but, certainly not for pricing.
  13. Ms. Marvel (All issues) continue to bring respectable prices: Ms. Marvel 20
  14. What's the difference between "supplying" demand and "creating" demand? Demand is demand. I don't think it means what you think it means. supplying = providing goods to meet existing demand creating = manufacturing demand in the market where none previously existed So by the latter you mean all of the SS people, and 90% of the people that post in this thread?
  15. And Divad tells them what they want? On occasion (but never for moderns . . . )
  16. Not. Even. Close. How many do you think are better? Two hundred and thrity-seven? (as of its release)

  18. Y'know, Joe Blow's not such a bad guy . . . once you get to know him.
  19. Found a sweet copy of this book while going through the longboxes over the weekend . . . Star Wars: Dark Empire II #1 (Dark Horse)
  20. If you're suggesting a "perfect storm," that suggest to me you want all of these things together. But you're unlikely to get #5 if #2 is already the case. Your best bet is recognizing that the team has talent which the collecting community hasn't fully recognized yet. Given the criteria, Outcast by Kirkman and Azaceta is one recent book that comes closest to filling the criteria. Speculators jumping on a low print run book, buying all copies they can see online, then hyping on their own websites creating desirability. Wash, rinse, repeat. The lemmings mentality and some just eat it up. examples? This one took 30 seconds TB 45 Do I even have enough time to pull it out of a longbox???
  21. Same with #1 and #48. All are overpriced consignments trying to cash in on the OVERhype. There is no such thing as overhype and overpriced for HG HFH #1 . . . IT is THE key book of the BA (way better than IH 181)
