  1. no Is that a new batch? And OCD ALERT! OCD ALERT! That one newsstand copy of 87 is just hurting the photo for me. Why? It's not like they're rare, or anything . . .
  2. Dangerous thing to say in a discussion about Dawn. Rubbed is way better than chafed. Which are both better than "raw".
  3. That it is, that it is. Can't seem to give away SA books now, and CA is blowing up!
  4. so this book is up 500% in a week because they announced the TV show was picked up? brilliant. Well we will have to see if that sale becomes a trend or remains an anomaly. There is/was only one other auction for a raw copy of that book on eBay when the trailer was released and NBC made it known they had ordered a full season of episodes and the book is mid-grade. I would have to think Gotham Central #1 eventually does the same thing in regards to a full season of Gotham being picked up by Fox, but that discussion belongs in the modern subforum. Hellblazer #1
  5. Shoot me a pm when you have your next sales thread . . . .
  6. Spider-Man? Yea, came out last week. Wow, he IS in a remote area . . .
  7. Gotta be a fluke, I see them for $5 at the LCS's often enough I would pay $5 all day long for 9.6+ copies . . . And I'll be in line right behind David. (thumbs u Yeah, but $53 for a book with two visible color-breaking ticks and no back cover scan? That's nuts. I wish I had a few $5 9.2s to sell. They aren't even $5 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=221418855321 That $53 auction is a fluke. No doubt about it. Well, it appears you made someone a happy customer!
  8. Yep, this is a book where you really can't trust the scans to accurately show the condition of the book - I've subbed a ton of Crow books in general and CGC doesn't treat them any differently than any other book from that era. Now ... Primer #2s - that's a different matter. I don't disagree with you guys necessarily, but I think you're being apologists. All of those factors go into the wear and tear on a book. A black book shows defects, yes, but you don't discount them because it's black. I defer to your experience with this issue, but I can't see giving it an inflated grade just because of variations in paper and cover stock. And neither of you addressed my SS comment . . . I try to avoid troll bait these days.

(thumbs u Yeah, but $53 for a book with two visible color-breaking ticks and no back cover scan? That's nuts. I wish I had a few $5 9.2s to sell. Yep, I'll take that. That guy was getting really nice prices on a bunch of books. Raw High Grade Nova #1 - $114 Raw High Grade She Hulk #1 - $63 Raw High Grade Inhumans #1 - $93 Raw High Grade Marvel Premiere #47 - $164 I know some of these books have gotten hotter but the pricing seems pretty high on most. Sure does . . . Anybody up for sleuthing?
  10. Wow, had no idea EE 9.8 commanded that much... It doesn't . . . (except in 9.8)
  11. Why the facepalm? The 9.2 doesn't even look like an 8.0. (and that's assuming that all of the fingerprinting is on the slab). It wasn't for the grade it was for the utter and complete lack of tact towards someone just enjoying a book that the love and enjoy. Understood. Completely. But this is a free and open exchange. Clearly CGC is soft on this book (and particularly, with its "self-endorsed" signature copies). Any posting outside of a sales thread is an open invitation for comment. And btw, tact is not necessarily a strong suit with internet posters. But this is a "fan" thread...."love" is right there in the title. It's not a "Please brutally critique my O'Barr Crow book" thread...it's a "O'Barr The Crow Love" thread. So it's not that they are a commodity as much as something admired and enjoyed beyond the base measuring sticks normally used. It's not an invitation to be a bellend to people. It's a mutually appreciation thread. People that can't understand the spirit of the thread, or post directly in opposition to the thread's intent, have me scratching my head as to what they are hoping to accomplish. bellend? Anyhoo, I don't think it was intended to be mean.

  14. Why the facepalm? The 9.2 doesn't even look like an 8.0. (and that's assuming that all of the fingerprinting is on the slab). I don't understand the need to take a dump on someone's book. Ryan obviously scanned it and posted it with a level of pride in his book. You think it was a nice comment to make? "Your book looks like mess, but that just might be me. (thumbs u " No offense, but I actually find this comment "interpretation" more offensive than the first one. I didn't comment? You asked me "why the facepalm?" and I answered you. I elaborated how I interpreted the original comment with words since the wasn't clear. There. Better?
  15. How? Were you the employee at the store that cut the bundle and put it on the rack? I don't doubt your confidence (just the chain of custody). I understand what you're saying, I guess it is possible (but unlikely) that someone removed the tattooz from my copy before I purchased it. But I guess that illustrates my point: I have no real way of knowing if my copy ever had the tattooz to begin with, and CGC has no way of knowing that either. Kidz with no money like tattooz that tear out easily. But I hear you. Personally, I think calling this book incomplete because it's missing some karppy cheap-azz giveaway is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay off base.
  16. Don't doubt you, but it doesn't appear to there now. The reality on eBay (and in most bargain bins) is that the grade of raw books (particularly those pictured in photos) are hardly ever above 8.0-8.5. People see what they want to see.
