  1. How would you know??? Hopefully CGC could tell if the book had been totally disassembled and then reassembled. I'm sure they certainly can (as could you or I), but I believe that whetton was talking about after the fact. So CGC knows it's a Frankenstein copy but doesn't do anything about it? No, not what I was saying. Whetteon said he'd be pissed if he found out his (already slabbed) CGC copy had a replaced tattooz.

  3. Yeah, wouldnt it be funny if Daredevil came out after hulk 181 and one of the other books is the real " Pre- hulk 181" book. haha. Honestly, this could get confusing. The ad shows Hulk 181 as releasing July 30th. Does that mean it was one of the last November cover dated books that came out in July or were November Dated books released in August and the fist wave just happened to hit on July 30th? hmm. Online U.S. Copyright records only go back to 1978: So you would have to arrange an in-office search.
  4. I don't think too many collectors are cool with removing the staples, removing the pages, then marrying a Tattooz insert to a comic, and then putting the Frankenstein book all back together, so you're probably referring to some unethical sellers. I agree. Way too much manipulation in my book. As to Gsims' statement, I'm not so sure that's what people here were implying, it's a discussion thread.
  5. I would crack it out, I am always curious about the level of sophistication on counterfeits.
  6. Thanks! I need some help on pricing the #4 Limited . . .
  7. Freakin' crazy market man! (runs to check DD box) and all because of JC . . .
  8. And my #5 is also signed (but no poster). You'll have to wait until tomorrow for that one as the girls took over my computer that I use to scan.
  9. Well, you motivated me, and I dug out my CFD box. A nice surprise indeed! My #4 is a HG Limited Signed copy . . .
  10. Now I have check my stack of these . . . Cue the CFD box tonight.
  11. Agreed, and while it's not as bad as a "clipped MVS" (which IMO is the worst type of these), it's still an incomplete book and deserving of the GLOD. I would normally agree, but here I don't. Really, as a comic collector, do I care about some crappy little tattooz or a coupon, neither of which impact the structural integrity of the book (if missing)? Not. At. All. As a reseller of slabbed books, do I care? Abso-freakin'-lutely!
  12. And, even more importantly, did the tattoos differ per each book. When you hold a bright light up behind the tattoos pouch, the outline becomes slightly clear without having to open it. I've only seen a few of these, but as I recall, each insert had different tattooz.
  13. Just FF #252 and Spidey #238. Any others would be later additions. Unless it has the Lakeside blurb on the cover, it didn't have them. Which, should create a market demand for the FF #252 . . .
  14. Well, it is from "An untouched Comic collection found in an attic in the heart of Detroit, this collection has not been touched in around 20 years..." Without looking, the collection could have 10 copies. Understood. I was making fun of the sales pitch. That price seems out of whack, but I am all for having DCCP 26 run up since I already have a few in hand........ Yep. Seller probably uses the same details for every book he lists. Reminds me of the old New Yorker cartoon that has a sign at a restaurant: "Food untouched by human hands." And in the back, there's a gorilla with a chef's hat on . . .

  16. I know of someone that submitted an ASM 238 and a Harbinger 1 that made it through CGC with an end result of blue labels after replacing the coupons. The feedback I received on changing out the coupon with a Harbinger 1 is it is the worst, as if you get it wrong the cover breaks open from the weak paper. Doesn't the ASM #238 (with tatooz missing) still get a Blue label, but with the notation? I'm pretty sure I've seen plenty of those. Much like Harbinger #1. I guess not:
  17. It's a "married" tattooz, and I guarantee that I could detect it. I don't think you'd get it by CGC either.
  18. Silly, I know, but it does. And just exchanging them from another book is not as easy as it sounds. I have a couple of copies of the FF with tattooz present, but they are offset and miscut (a very common occurence). It's in the realm of marrying a cover, and that said, as easily detectable.
  19. Well, I'll eat crow on Crossbones. And, a lot of Modern buyers eschew limited series . . .
  20. Organic is so confusing. All I know is the organic stuff looks shriveled up and unappetizing and the people walking around the health food store look like zombies.... I'll take a Big Mac every time.... So, that it explains it . . .
