You made me love this cover again.
Thank you!
-
I purchased an action 19 from him and he got it to me super fast! Great communication, packing, etc. I hope he'll sell me some more books someday.
-
I'm also thrilled to now have two December 1939 cover dated comics!
I love imaging how these would look together at the newsstands.
I know what you mean. For an early comics buff, and especially for an early DC comics buff, there's something magical about that year.
I really like seeing the big '1939' with the month in the upper right corner of the DCs... kinda wish they'd kept doing that through the 40s.
Me too! Were there any other publishers that had the year on the cover during 39-46?
-
Congrats
And yes, the last page of Action #19 (along with at least Adventure #45) features the earliest published art of Flash and Hawkman. Ads for books are awesome
The ad I posted from Action #19 is in the middle of the book.
Is it on the last page of adventure?

I have my second early action!
Thanks to StingerMcK and his grail chasing, I'm now the proud owner of a #19.
My #17 now has a friend.
It was getting lonely with all these Timelys around.
Seeing them together, the green ACTION text stands out and looks really nice!
Since it's raw I had to read it and take a few pics. I thought this page was pretty cool.

I hope I can add Actions #13, #15, #20, and #21 someday.

I doubt there are many Cap #1 owners under 30 as well.
If you can afford a nice cap #1, you can probably buy a supes #1.
-
IMO, Cap #1 has only begun to scrape the surface of its potential.
BTW, if you look at the timing, Dusty was introduced in PEP #11 perhaps inspiring Cap's sidekick Bucky as well.
I thought Bucky was added because of the appeal of Batman's Robin, no?

Early Superman Action covers will never have a problem selling. I love Timelys first but I recognize the historical significance and prestige of Early Superman and Batman Actions and Detectives.
Most young collectors are priced out of these early Superman comics.
But a certain % rich youngsters will always buy what makes them feel prestigious.

And lastly....
For old time's sake.

Cap looks good in a chute!

A recent pick up.

Next are my all select and all winners group shots.

I busted out the camera for some group shots.
Sorry for some of the blurring. My good camera's in the shop.
First up. Those pairs you end up with when you can't quite sell your under copy.

I feel like there has been a lot of competition for Timely's this year, so it's been awhile since I felt like I got a break on a book.
I know $293 isn't a super amazing deal, but I didn't think I could get this issue under $400.
I was nervous because of the terrible ebay photo and description, but I'm happy with it.
turned out to be this:

I don't know my interiors well. But I'm guessing by the water that it's an Everett.
I'd say a pre-enlisted Everett panel?
Cool find and pics Prime! I like stuff like this. I should get some Timely reprints.

2 questions.
Is Motion Picture Funnies Weekly #1 considered a Timely?
And how many pages was the Sub Mariner story?
Too bad he wasn't on the cover.
Oh and bonus questions,
Did subby have his wings in MPF?
If not which comic did he have them first? (Interior)

Nice Krazy!
Black Cover! Oooo

He probably got paid more at Timely, so he made sure to put in the extra detail. The objective nature of more planes, etc would make it easier for Mr. Goodman to see he got his moneys worth.
What I always wonder is why he didn't do more of the covers. Were the gaps significant?
Show me your Timely's and I'll show you mine. Have a Cigar...

I'd love to see a group shot of those yellows. Here are mine. I know a few I'd like to add.
