  1. 1. If Cap #3 spikes when Stan Lee passes, will it retain that value 5 years after?

    2. If next year's new Cap movie sucks, how or will it effect cap GA values?

    3. How many GA covers have Cap but no Bucky? I can't think of many. A few All Selects and All Winners are all I can think of at the moment.

  2. HOLY F GUYS!

You know a good day when the first thing you do is pick this up at the post office!

    This book...

    This S O B of a book...

    The one that got away...

I believe it was 10-13 years ago at a Chicago con.. (it feels like hundreds of years ago)

I pulled out a slabbed 0.5 from a random long box.

It was one of those random tables.

    You know the ones.

Manned by a desperate yet enthusiastic guy who for some weird reason brought only 2 or 3 boxes...

Not even any comics behind him.

I don't know about you, but I'm usually overly compelled to check these out.

    "you never know"

I can still remember my inner dialog as I held a CGC book for the first time.

    "Wow what an awesome cover!"

"He says it's rare.. They always say that."

"Man it's supper ripped up! $800?"

"This must be drawn by the same artist who did those old Marvel covers...

"Shomburg? I wonder if he made an artbook."

"He says I won't see this around... Whatever dude.."

"Not restored? What the hell is this restored business?"

"Blue label? I could use some Blue label scotch to help me deal with the air of BS from this guy."

"I need to research this Golden Age stuff. It seems easy to get ripped off."

"CGC.. .What is this.. Seems like an easy way to justify a high price."

"When did comics become baseball cards?... What a gimmick."

"Classic cover? I have no idea.."

"Timely what? It's about time I get in that Kevin Smith line if I want a seat."

"This cover is pretty awesome though, and old. Super old. And awesome."

"I'll just get one that's not graded. Probably waaay cheaper."

"Maybe this guy has some original art"

    So I passed...

Around 2007 I decided that the next time I see this book I'm gonna buy it.

I then spent the last 6 years trying to even find the damn thing.

Always just one step ahead of me...

    Just one grade above affordable...

    Well FINALLY!!

    Damn I'm excited haha.

Seriously though.. I'm so glad I took a chance on this Ebay auction.

When I took it out of the box the colors and overall print quality of the cover simply blew me away.

Way more than I hoped for.

I was sitting in my car for like 10 minutes waiting for my brain to turn back on.

    I was speechless!

Usually I at least mutter to myself "Not bad.. Not bad..".

Nothing to say or think this time.

Anyways, I wish you all some great mornings like mine!

Anyone a previous owner of this beauty?

I'll post some more pics later.

  3. USPS Flat-Rate Medium boxes, the 11x8.5x5.5 sized one. You can get 50 comics in one of those well packaged & packed, and it will only cost $12.35 in the US. Anything larger than 50 comics, IDK. I have never shipped a short- or long-box before, but there are people here that have.

You might want to try the search function first, then maybe post this is Comics General.

    Thank you very much slym!

  4. Dear Gator,

Starting last year there was a large spike in 1940s-1950s baseball card collections sold to my local shop.

The sellers were either elderly men, their widows, or their children.

    Did/do golden-age comics have a similar pattern?

If so, what era/timespan will show up next?

    Thx

  5. I just got my FIRST BATMAN!

I always loved the cover. It reminds me of my first exposure to Batman, the 60's TV show intro.

  6. Thx!

Haha, in this issue all he does is stop some civilian boat blackmailers. Nothing to do with any military anything. I wish it did.

I have no idea if Supes kills any Axis in the comics, but that's an interesting question.

Does anyone know which book has his first interior fight with axis military?

  7. Thanks for the info guys.

I was interested in some of his ebay items, but wanted the scoop from the board before contacting him.

In his descriptions he talks a lot about not having time to waste, I wish he would respect mine by clearly identifying books that would likely get a PLOD.

The only way I can justify this hobby is by putting all my $100+ complete books in CGC.

I can't imagine the nightmare my family would face if they had to sell non CGC books.
