  10. I wouldn’t say exactly held too long, but I have a few pieces I’ve been shopping around for over a year at or below what I paid for them with no takers.....when I purchased them they were of course going no where but up one thing I’ve learned no one really knows what things are worth and what direction things are going....I’ve heard many times from dealers and other collectors, “get so and so quick, they’re about to take off!” And most of the time nothing happens; if it goes up and you didn’t buy they will tell you “see, I told you”, and if it goes down, you will never hear about it.......this hobby is really just educated guess work in the field of ones own collecting interest, and how much it’s worth to you, I don’t count on anything continuing up....In a way I think the only to way truly have upside is just to be lucky enough to get it cheap!

  12. I have regret both ways, mostly from not buying, but there’s a few that after owning the piece for a while, not really clicking with it and wanting to sell, I had a difficult time finding it a new owner.
  13. I ask myself this same question when I bid
  14. Well, I can say I’ve only lost money reselling anything I’ve ever bought at Heritage.....not major losses but around 10-20% also dealers can buy and mark it up claiming it was undervalued, I’m not in that position even if I believe it was.....so along with some other great points stated above, I would say auctions just give a loose idea of what value might be
  15. I agree, pretty strong overall, the only things that standout to me are the Wolvertons, which seemed very low compared to the last few auctions, and a couple of the Clowes pages.
  16. Thanks, good to know, I thought they were donated....that aside, point being those are expensive strips!
  17. Jeez, maybe the school that has all the watersons should sell them off and give everyone free tuition for a year
