  1. I. Want. This. I got mine today with a nice Ottley sig on the bottom (he just signs "Ryan"). He was a nice guy. I caught his booth early. It was like a family affair too. When I was there early, he had his son sitting back there. Later I walked past again and his wife (who was attractive) was sitting with him. Pretty cool stuff and I love the print.
  2. Were people looking for the RRP? That is a good point: not one of them even bothered to ask me if it was an RRP. I didn't see a single booth selling any issues either. I saw a few modern East of Wests for like $15 or so. No one was interested in my copy of the first one of the those either.
  3. Just to give you an idea of how niche this book is: I tried to sell/trade my Saga 1 SS all day at Baltimore today. Without even looking, most dealers weren't interested. One guy was willing to trade, but he didn't have anything I wanted unfortunately.
  4. Oh I agree with this. I think the book story wise deserves some praise. It is very good. My point, I don't think the regular cover is going to appreciate all that much. Print run was to high. The RRP is where it is at.
  5. Not sure I agree with that statement. I was trying to sell it before the hiatus. It still wasn't moving. Honestly, the book is great, but I don't think the first issue is worth much if it's the RRP.
  6. It's a manufacturing defect from the supplier. Plus, I am guessing that the CGC has chosen to put the defect on the back of the inner well as opposed to the front. I don't believe unused inner wells have a specified front or back. That would be like specifying right and left socks. It is my understanding from reading various posts on the boards that the CGC received a bad batch of inner wells from their supplier. Instead of waiting for new inner wells from their suppliers, the CGC chose to continue under a "business as usual" mantra until the supplier of the inner wells rectified the problem. This left the CGC with an unspecified amount of defective (my word, not theirs) product to work their way through. There actually IS a front and back member to the inner well. I don't think CGC is choosing to put the defect on the back. There are manufacturing reasons why this occurs. Please see my link. LINK I like how it is a link to a link. But I didn't know this. Thanks for the information.
  7. I don't know the degree of industry awareness to this problem, dealers or otherwise, so I don't want to jump to any conclusions But one thing is certain, this is a severe cosmetic issue with possibly damaging effects to the comic book. As such, it falls under the same "full disclosure" area as a cracked slab. Any book purchased through eBay or PayPal with this issue not fully described in the listing would fall under their "significantly not as described" (SNAD) policy and would be returnable, usually including return shipping. Without a reasonable doubt, if I received a book like this it'd go back in a heartbeat. Not that I have a lot of books slabbed, but I don't plan to have anything done until this is over either. If CGC sent me a book like this I'd argue it until they gave me my money back. I'm surprised people aren't already.

This left the CGC with an unspecified amount of defective (my word, not theirs) product to work their way through. And that seems OK to you? When I've worked in stores, if we end up with a defective product we do not use it. Even if the defect is hidden, we wouldn't use it. It is like pulling the wool over the customer.
  9. The thing that sticks out the most about this is that the indent is always one the back. Aren't slabs symmetrical and could go either way? Does that mean CGC has enough foresight to put the book in so the indent is on the back? They seem to be knowingly pushing books through without catching and correcting the mistake.
  10. I like a lot of writers, but I'll literally read anything Rucka puts his name on. He hasn't disappointed yet.
  11. Looks like $325 is the price right now: http://www.ebay.com/itm/350860495908?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649&autorefresh=true If my daughter didn't play ice hockey I'd have been all over this auction. I was tempted to put in a bid but just not the right time. There is a 9.6 up on the bay too for a decent price.
  12. I tried to email Ottley to ask him what exactly he'd be doing at Baltimore. I never heard back...
  13. Where did you hear that? I'll have to find one. Is it a reprint of the actual first issue or a variant on a later issue?
  14. Great Now remember: The first is good, but the series really gets going in the second and third collection. Actually, what issues are collected in the Omnibus? Do you mean Ultimate Collection? The issues from 13-30ish really get the book rolling. Omni #1 is 1 - 48 Oh perfect!
  15. Not to plug my book, but I've tried to sell my copy of Saga 1 SS a few times and never been able to move it. I even put it up for 20 or 30 less than where ebay auctions were ending. I really think the hot book is the RRP. Now this isn't to say I don't like the book, but I'm a Spidey collector and it seems out of place in my collection. I was also hoping to flip it for a copy of Invincible 1.

  17. That is because it is the Larry cover. I'm not sure why it isn't in more demand. It has a smaller print run then the regular cover.
  18. Not that reviews mean anything, but CBR only gave the book 3 1/2 stars: http://www.comicbookresources.com/?page=user_review&id=6349
  19. That was a big reason I did a re-read. I'd read my first 5 Ultimate Collections a few times, but post Viltrumite War I'd only read those issues once when I bought them as floppies. Let us know what you think the second time around with the later issues.
  20. Why aren't there any credits on that book?
  21. use Bill Me Later next time, or your credit card. that seems like a good price. It said I was not eligible for the Bill Me Later. And my credit card is maxed out. Tough times when you have little kids and are a teacher that hasn't been paid since June. If it had been up two weeks later it would have been mine.
  22. I don't have GPA, but they are usually around $350 from what I've seen. I watch and check for them pretty often. In all honesty, I think last year alone I only saw about 5 or 6 graded copies between here and ebay. It isn't a high demand book, but it is very hard to find because people that have it hang on to it.
  23. The book came up late last night and is already gone. I even put up a sales thread trying to raise funs knowing it'd probably be gone by the end of the day. Great price! http://www.ebay.com/itm/Invincible-1-CGC-9-8-/300950054618?pt=US_Comic_Books&hash=item46120566da
  24. Yea that first story isn't great. Glad you stuck with it!
  25. I purchased two books off of Buzzetta. They came very quickly and were packaged well. I'd recommend him to anyone on the boards. (thumbs u
