  1. Thanks to Bill Morrison, I am able to add this Sanjulian cover for the Spanish version of Creepy #9 to my collection. 24” wide x 16” tall and all fun.
  2. It’s not something I’ve run into. However, allow me to introduce you to the modern miracle that is Google Translate. It’s been invaluable to me.
  3. Val Mayerik did so much spectacular work in our beloved magazines on both covers and interiors, I consider him a perennial all star.
  4. I see this type of corner chipping on roughly 10% of Warren magazines specifically between 1966-1969. It can be at the top, bottom or rarely both. I believe this is as stated by others that it is a fairly significant side effect of the production trim. With all due respect to the mighty Oakman, Silverfish generally do much cleaner work than this and do their work anywhere, not just corners. It’s similar to a mouse chew, but never affects covers and typically only a portion of the interior pages. It’s too consistent to be bugs or animals. Given the loss of material, and the fact that copies exist without this defect, in my own personal grading standard I drop the grade 1-1.5 points. Your mileage may vary.
  5. I won these two pieces at auction tonight. Appropriate apologies to any one who may have been the underbidder(s). I am particularly excited about the story page, as it’s a lovely example with a couple of beauty panels.
  6. Yes, I know Steve. You may also note that his son is Deniz Kahn of WATA.
  7. Elvira has had a nostalgic resurgence the last few years. In this case, not being able to look inside may have increased the value.
  8. Picked up several nice Mads at Fanfest. This being the highlight.
  9. I believe this to be in the solidly 9.2 camp, so in CGC terms, probably a 9.4 to them. Nice white pages too.
  10. I received a note from art dealer and writer of one Warren story, George Hagenauer on Tuesday that he had gotten his hands on Tom Sutton’s Vampirella story endcap illustration of the Drakulonian that’s small at 3” x 5” from issue 3. We worked it out and added this too.
  11. While unfortunately not the complete story, I did get pages 3-8 of the Doll Collector cover story from Eerie 15. If anyone knows the whereabouts of the first two pages, please let me know. I would love to put it back together.
  12. It’s beeen a great week for me, besides the roughly 60 high grade magazines I was able to dig up at the Fanfest in Rosemont last week. I’ll start with this stunningly nice Nightmare 15, possibly the most difficult Skywald of all in grade.
  13. I’m am a big fan of Estabahn Maroto during this period, and of course most people know my obsession with Enric. It’s fantastic material. Congratulations!
  14. This might help a little bit. I don’t think that it’s a sword, but then again, I can’t necessarily tell you what it is. The two “legs” coming off of it are confusing. The bright spot behind than is more dynamic in this shot of the painting.
  15. That period tends to have spine issues generally, but the two white Spacemen covers, 3 and 5, are nearly impossible to find without major splitting. I was bidding on an intact 3 about 8 years ago, and it went from 50’ish dollars with a minute to go up to over $400 in a frenzied bidding war. I haven’t had nearly the trouble with the other issues.
  16. Funny you should post the MonsterScene. I was with Steve Smith much of the weekend, publisher of that magazine.
  17. Finally! The suspense was overwhelming, and it truly did not disappoint!! Congratulations, and I know it was a bit of a long road to get this done, but well worth it all! Pieces like this become the heart of your collection. I’m very happy for you Jay, you will enjoy this forever.
  18. Since there really isn’t a thread for this, I thought I would put this here. A collector from Britain had posted two Koufay Vampirella original paintings, which have subsequently been used for prints and Giclees. I don’t need both, but chose this one. Just ordered it today, so these are his pictures. If anyone is interested, the other one is on the ‘bay.
  19. Is it really wise to get Bard into reading stories about gruesome deaths and killings? Good lord! **choke** What have you done!
  20. Looks like it escaped the oh so common bottom spine split.
