  1. If all those Deathstroke army guys are on mirakuru they are going to have to call in some reinforcements to handle them. Holy smokes. I'm antsy for tonights episode.
  2. I'm just blown away that no a month ago said "Hey, maybe we should take a few pictures/scans of this book, it does have unique defects, just in case someone else tries to submit it in the near future, because if we regraded it a blue imagine how it would make us look."
  3. The purple label 7.0 was graded before the blue label 6.0. Plus, why would anyone want to go to the expense for a setup? There's really nothing to be gained other than bad press and the CGC certainly doesn't need anyone's help in that regard. Certification #: 0227546002 Title: Journey Into Mystery Issue: 83 Issue Date: 8/62 Issue Year: 1962 Publisher: Marvel Comics Grade: 7.0 Pedigree: COVER TRIMMED Page Quality: OFF-WHITE TO WHITE Label Text: TOP EDGE OF COVER TRIMMED. Grade Date: 02/14/2014 Category: Apparent Art Comments: Stan Lee story Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko art Jack Kirby cover Key Comments: Origin and 1st appearance of Thor (Doctor Don Blake). Certification #: 0230667003 Title: Journey Into Mystery Issue: 83 Issue Date: 8/62 Issue Year: 1962 Publisher: Marvel Comics Grade: 6.0 Page Quality: OFF-WHITE Grade Date: 03/27/2014 Category: Universal Art Comments: Stan Lee story Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko art Jack Kirby cover Key Comments: Origin and 1st appearance of Thor (Doctor Don Blake). What really confuses me are the grade dates. Only several weeks apart. This book and all the hoopla had to be fresh in their memories. You'd have to be completely incompetent for not a single CGC employee to go, "Hey isn't this the comic we just had all the....." And how did it get graded so quickly. If you factor in the shipping times from CGC to customer, customer sells it to next person, then customer shipsback to CGC... that has to take awhile. How did this book get graded so fast? Did someone pay for a walkthrough? This "fresh in their memories" argument is VERY interesting to me!!! As many of you know and remember my Avengers 4 CPR fiasco. Originally a 9.2, regraded to a 9.0 and then regraded again to a 8.5. These resubmissions were like 6 months apart or longer and Avengers 4 is a VERY common book! After the last submission, Harshen basically told me in no uncertain terms that I should be happy with the final 8.5 grade and NOT attempt another resub as one grader had it as a 8.0 and this book would DEFINITELY be remembered and most likely drop in grade again if I did. Somehow my Avengers 4 with nothing whatsoever to distinguish it from the MANY other Avengers 4 subbed every year would DEFINITELY be remembered but a JIM 83 with a very distinctive fault and a stink made about it wasnt remembered a month later?!? This is EXACTLY the kind of nonsense that erodes confidence in cgc and makes people VERY justifiably worried about the special treatment some high volume submitters or connections receive when submitting their books! How this book was not remembered but I was at out told my Avengers 4 would DEFINITELY be remembered over a year after submission is not only baffling but sketchy as hell IMO! It is literally mind boggling. A mega key that is the same grade as a book that was just a moderate fiasco a month earlier scoots through like this?
  4. There is obviously no way the new owner would try for a grade bump, the book was already slabbed so the "I like to have my books slabbed" cannot be in play, the only reason to resub would be to gamble for the blue. This leads me to a few things. A. I would NOT buy books from someone who would do this. B. If this is a high volume submitter/dealer/buddy of anyone at CGC then that is a large can of worms. C. If anyone who saw this book when it was being closely scrutinized and did not recognize the book a month later they can't be very intelligent.
  5. I really want to know about this last submitter. It would take a pair to submit the book thinking it had a shot at a blue label.
  6. To late to make me happy about it. I'll be happy if the buyer re-sells it and makes a nice healthy profit. Can you tell us if the buyer was a high volume submitter/dealer?
  7. Trimmed books always get a Purple label This is why we need the sarcasm emoticon. I guess I could have used the but I hate that one. This news has me flustered. I would say I was flustered when I read the first thread. It was a big mistake, but IIRC the original cracked book was an older submission so I could accept the fact maybe they got better at detecting trimming. Reading this thread I can't even begin to describe what it makes me think. There is also the fact that the book was 2 grades different on the resub which is never a good thing. Yes, this is 100 times the black eye that the first thread was. Maybe more. As for the difference in grade, I think it was originally a 6.0, so it isn't a surprise to see that number in the corner. I thought it overgraded as a 7.0 and frankly don't love it as a 6.0, but that is small potatoes. Looked a bit overgraded to me at 7.0 too. But whenever I see a high dollar book with that number flopping around that can affect the value by $1000's I cringe.
  8. I'm not sure, but there should be. For some reason I have always been a sucker for purple covers so I have always loved the first Reverse Flash appearances.
  9. Beautiful copy, Sir, of an early SA Flash. One of my favorite covers and issues of the run. The Flash was one of Julius Schwartz' greatest creations and next to Superman my favorite comic book Superhereo. Congrats!! I was very happy when I picked it up. One thing you quickly realize when collecting SA Flash is that every ten digits you drop and get harder and harder to fine these books above VG/beaters.

  11. Either CGC admits they can't detect trimming with any accuracy.....or they admit they don't take the time to bother. This will just be another blip on the radar though. Without CGC.....sellers could no longer print money. Cue an epic circle jerk...... Actually this will now reopen the flood gates for the TORCR wave. (Trimmed-Only Restored Crack and Resub) CGC is probably going to make another mint on all the resubs. sales for trimmed only restored comics will spike as everyone attempts to cash in on the inconsistencies. +1
  12. The weirdest thing to me is if this happened a month ago, you would think that they would of recognized the book.
  13. Was this somewhat of an experiment by the buyer to see what would happen? This is really not good.
  14. Now this is going to be interesting. In my opinion at some points Arrow has been somewhat "weird" with some of the rogues they have decided to incorporate with the augmentation of back stories and histories of the characters. You simply cannot introduce Harley full time without a Batman being incorporated into the story.
  15. Finally watched this weeks episode, actually thought it was kind of bleh. A lot of unbelievable/silly scenes and dumb plot elements. My biggest hope is they don't kill off Deathstroke. One interesting thing about the character is that, to what I can remember, he has not done anything that would make him a complete villain. I don't think he has killed or hurt anybody that didn't necessarily have it coming.
  16. It's good to see so many people are still buying the grade and not the book. And that $75 raw does look like it has an issue in the top right corner.
  17. Have not joined the club yet, but this book is on my to buy list. Just have not got around to getting a copy yet.
  18. I think that is speculation on his part. It could be her, but I don't think it was. I am very excited to see where the rest of this season takes us.
