  1. I struggle with this myself. I don't post my collection for general privacy concerns(at some points have had some pieces on caf and I share with Collectors I know would appreciate a piece), similar to how I don't post my private life onto social media. At the same time I view CAF almost daily and semi regularly follow what people I know are doing on social media, so I might be a complete hypocrite! As far as fresh to market goes, I think it matters not on A/A+ stuff, but might have an effect on lesser material.
  2. I’m aware of the significance of the MWOF piece, didn’t know if I was missing something about the other cover. I was planning on bringing this piece home, was willing to go over what I thought was fmv, but not to the extent of a $9k hammer!
  3. Kind of a "key" moment in the saga and a trophy piece to draw out big bidders, also wouldn't be shocked if there is some speculation on a piece like this. The piece(the background/dialogue more so than Thanos) is amazing, even if the size of Thanos on the page is less then ideal. I also really like the bottom panel, simple yet fantastic.
  4. I ended up picking up 2 items, both for bids I placed a while ago(one was on 8/19 lol) which were just high tracking bids in my mind so I am a happy camper. Prices were kind of all over the place as usual and not a ton of bidding on the last day of the auction.
  5. Maybe i'm wrong but isn't the MWOF cover more desirable than the #271 cover that went for a higher price? I think the MOWF #1 cover they auctioned awhile back was a steal as well. I have a feeling I may regret not going harder on them at some point.
  6. I’m pretty sure I have even seen some sub $1k reserves in the past year in clink auctions. Are they at least taking a percentage of these pieces if they don’t sell? Seems silly that they let sellers place reserves on inexpensive regularly sold items. It leaves a bad image to buyers.
  7. Fairly strong early prices. The Perez Infinity Gauntlet page is already over $20K! I have a few targets and 1 consignment. Looking to cross a specific example off the list I have been wanting for awhile.
  8. One thing that hasn't really been brought up, and something that actually makes KJ a poor example for comparing values, is the length of this book. 46 pages plus the cover. A lot of prelims if you are interested but don't quench the desire for most. Thats it. There are few as desirable works whose supply is so limited. You don't get to really choose your KJ example, (unless you are willing to make a LARGE offer privately.) No one wants to sell them, so the question is not what it is worth, but rather who is willing to bid the most. I am interested to see if this sale pulls another page or 2 out of the woodwork. It should be a very nice pay day for the top 50% of the pages. If KJ was as long as DKR prices would be in line with what those pages sell for.
  9. It’s interesting that there are so many different perspectives, I have always thought it was pretty standard that art grading took place in each specific project/artist and used the grading system to rank pieces in terms of desirability amongst the material, not the overall desirability in the hobby itself. Very very roughly as it is much more art than science. A page - Character in costume in action against rogue or other very significant page from story. B - Main character in costume some action or strong out of action page. Strong rogue pages C page - Main character in costume potentially but small image/talking heads. Main character out of costume. D - pages with very little desirability. No important characters no costumes boring dialogue etc
  10. Under bidder on the item I wanted the most and blown away on the other item I wanted. An early item I was interested in I wasn’t online to bid on went way lower than I would have paid. I assumed it was going to sell for a lot more so all in all a bad auction day for me. Mignola Batman cover was weird. I thought the reserve was way low, and it was considering it sold for about double. I wonder if the reserve price hurt bidding by damaging perceived value? KJ page went exactly what I thought it would go for. I wonder if we will see soon another come to market after this sale. IMSM cover had a wow price, but it was a wow piece. I agree with the sentiment the prices were either strong or weak with the top tier stuff flying high and the slightly lesser stuff lagging.
  11. Geez, you can say that again. Worth at least twice that.
  12. The auction is underway and it is a doozy, talk about 80’s grail art; a Watchmen cover, Batman 426 DITF cover and the first Killing Joke Page to be sold at auction in a few years. I am expecting the bidding on all three of these pieces to be wars. Along with a lot of other 80’s pieces I am betting the auction is going to hit a lot of collectors nostalgic era hard. I have been conserving funds and am hoping to bring a piece or two home.
  13. Description was updated and it’s the real deal. Should be a bloodbath. A lot of Batman collectors have been waiting a long time for a piece from this story.
  14. DC really pissed of a lot of fans and retailers with the false advertising. I would be upset if I paid big cash for one of these covers ($18k ) although it was a ridiculous overpay even if the story happened as promised.
  15. The stuff of OA collectors dreams for sure. Sounds like a "meant to be" event.
  16. At first I thought "great ending an OA auction on a Tuesday rather than a Friday." Then I realized it was the day after Memorial Day and is probably not the best to end an auction. Prices still look pretty low almost across the board for "day of" auction. I am still winning a few tracking bids.
  17. +1 Does anyone know if there will be standard shipping charges for US customers, or will we be paying for international shipping?
  18. Ditto. Heritage catalog cover effect? Is that THE definitive Kieth Wolverine piece? As great as it is, an insane price.
  19. I think for the majority of books(80%+) you would see a discount, for many reasons, but I do think premiums are possible. Impossible to really determine, but fairly obvious that not every book every time is ALWAYS going to sell at a discount. Specific books in specific price ranges it can happen. I can think of plenty of books if they were magically complete I would happily pay a 10-20% premium on what I thought the individual pages were worth. As far as Spider-man prices in general, the market is absolutely bonkers. Nothing cool that is Spidey related surprises me anymore. Is the price strong? Of course. I just don't think a 20 year old JRJR ASM story selling complete for $20k is that crazy at this time in the market.
  20. For sure not guaranteed, but I tend to think for a title like ASM or Batman there is potential for a premium. For Web of Spider-Man Or Batmam LODK I think it is a discount.
  21. Clink focused auctions have in general become a great place for collectors not looking to spend a lot to get neat art cheap. I almost always pick up something from every auction.
  22. Price growth.... you can find plenty of stuff up 400% or more in that time frame. Looking at the HA archives there is plenty of stuff I would pay 4x sales from 2012/2013. 2k a pop for the splashes, 1k each for the Spidey panel pages 300 a pop for the non Spidey pages plus a premium for “complete”....the price really isn’t surprising at all.
  23. Agreed. The more desirable pieces that ended on the cheaper side were the ones I was close on. While I really like the stuff, I just don’t love the material enough to actually land one. lol I have one nice Lim Surfer Page in the collection. So it tides me over.
  24. It does devalue to those in the know still I believe. Also let’s be honest that piece is almost for sure shilled.
  25. Infinity Gauntlet prices seemed about as expected maybe slightly low on average with a couple higher than I expected. I was close to getting a couple but they were all a bit above where I wanted to be.
