  1. The 4th print has a nice wrap around cover and I believe is the first cover appearance of Shredder, so I would aim for that one
  2. If anyone thinks the 1st prints are too common, then they have this grail they could jump on: The very first printers proof. https://www.comiclink.com/auctions/item.asp?back=%2FAUCTIONS%2FSEARCH.ASP%3FFocusedOnly%3D1%26where%3Dauctions%26title%3Dninja%2Bturtles%26ItemType%3DCB%23Item_1420693&id=1420693&itemType=0
  3. So what's everyones guess on what this epic piece sells for? The original printers proof of the very first issue! https://www.comiclink.com/auctions/item.asp?back=%2FAUCTIONS%2FSEARCH.ASP%3FFocusedOnly%3D1%26where%3Dauctions%26title%3Dninja%2Bturtles%26ItemType%3DCB%23Item_1420693&id=1420693&itemType=0
  4. Yeah, you really don't want to keep that. Send it my way so it can cozy up to my other copies.
  5. One day I'll find a solid copy (ideally at least 8.0), for now these are my two copies I've managed to hunt down. They range from 3.0 to 4.0, but both present very nicely and will have to suffice for now
  6. Can anyone chime in exactly how 'rare' this book is (if at all). I absolutely love the cover, and have been trying to pick up any copies that I find in my attempt to upgrade my two low/mid copies to a high grade one...but I just can't seem to ever find anything. Also, if you HAVE a nice copy of these please let me know Boy Meets Girl #15
  7. Alas, I don't have a CIB Super Metroid anymore....my SNES collection is actually just the carts and instructions booklets in custom cases (this way I could collect much cheaper loose carts of many rare games instead of paying through the roof for boxed copies. Also opening them constantly for playing is less stressful when they are not in mint condition ). However Super Metroid will be the on exception to when I finally put together a display - it'll be one of the few games I'm trying to buy sealed.
  8. nice! Once I get a display going with statues and comics I'll be sure to remember to do this for Samus as well, but with Super Metroid (and Super Metroid Eris)
  9. This is exactly why I think the 'lower grade' copies of this book are the true gems - still 'affordable' to a larger group of buyers that want in I've told my wife about all current auctions and the offers I get on my TMNT book, they come in like clockwork every week on instagram, and every time she gives me a scowl and tells me hard no to selling (we both love the turtles). Of course I won't sell now with how bonkers the prices are getting, but we both agreed it wouldn't be totally insane if one day I ended up selling mine for $10k Canadian (I have a CGC 5.0, so basically $7,500us which seems doable with how prices are trending now) even though long term it could be more - I don't want to be too greedy and Sauce Dog needs a new house to live in
  10. I think that series features the first appearance of The Human Torque
  11. 8.5-9.0 for #2, but less if that is a stain on the bottom of the first page.
  12. Won my very first best-of-set this year, huzzah to having a new addiction to chase One registry question though, what are the purple award icons representing? I see these in the same sets as others who won the regular green 2020 award and hand't noticed those before.
  13. Legal boring stuff first before getting to a random sale by your favourite sauce dog Please no hall of shamers or probies. I ship anywhere in North America, and I only accept Pay Pal. No returns on slabbed books. All prices are in USD. Shipping from Toronto, Canada. Add $15 for shipping within Canada, and $25 for shipping to the USA. Can meet up if you are local to the GTA. First timestamped gets it over any in progress PM discussions. X-Men #14 (1965)CGC 7.0 - CREAM TO OFF-WHITE PAGES1st appearance of the Sentinels. Origin of the Angel. Slight (A): small amount of color touch, small amount of glue on cover $340us For sale is a very beautiful silver age classic X-Men, featuring the first appearance of the Sentinels. The colors really pop on this issue and is one of the better display copies I've seen. Apparently it has a small amount of restoration, in fact so small I'm still struggling to figure out exactly where it is on this book. 90-Day average for a universal 7.0 is $455us, and for reference 5.5 Universal last sold for $341us.
  14. You know what's a great feeling? Snagging a book off Ebay for super cheap and then finding out it's the highest grade on census by several points. Seems like most ignored this issue due to it being qualified (and the census status wasn't advertised, something you often find with CGC listings that are in the top three), but super happy as it means it was an awesome deal for me and made it my first Harvey comic purchase since 2012 Wasn't really looking to get into this series, but the colors (and bonus white pages) just jumped out at me. I enjoy the unique perspective of the cover, playing off the 'hands-reaching-out' trope found on many other GA horror comics.
  15. Yuppers. Somewhere in this massive club thread it's posted
  16. $5k right now, which is in line with offers I have received over the past 3 months (the highest being $4,800us). I feel strongly it will hit the prior 6.0 numbers easily and there isn't any reason to sell it for any GPA prices, especially if several months old.
  17. That's been my thinking as well, with any issue less than Very Fine easily commanding $1k per point (above that it starts to jump higher and gets crazy)
  18. Looks like the affordable 'low' grade copies are creeping up even more. 6.0 for $7,408us! https://www.ebay.com/itm/TEENAGE-MUTANT-NINJA-TURTLES-1-Mirage-Studios-1984-CGC-6-0-First-Appearance-/383630824528?nma=true&si=DuVM%2BfJKl%2Fx8Fej1XcQLE0ESHYg%3D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557
  19. I'll watch it, but I 100% hate the fact Abrams is attached, but hope it just turns out he is there for name recognition only and his involvement is limited. One of the worst 'big' directors I can think of in recent memory. Also fully support Keanu taking the role again. For many reasons I prefer him over Matt Ryan (who was alight, but it still felt like a cheap cosplay trying way too hard to be as comic accurate as possible), but I think this is an especially smart move as it is an easy way to connect these new movies to older movies - giving the appearance that the DC Cinematic Universe had at least a sliver of forethought and planning put into it (even if it didn't).
  20. Yeah, that was my last purchase with him and now seems like a fluke....I sent at least another 2-3 emails looking to buy more comics but never got a response.
  21. Let's lighten things up in here with something funny I learned today: Today I learned: CBCS only has ONE single employee working at their Canadian location...and he doesn't even live in Canada Rather he drives in from the USA only about 2-4 times a month. So yeah, the reason their Canadian office is still 'shut down' isn't due to government work regulations for COVID, but rather because the one guy can't drive across the border anymore and nobody else works there (they share the facility with another distribution company, and that company has been up and running for awhile now). edit: Spoiler my stack of graded books has been sitting in the Canadian facility since the start of February, and even before the lockdown happened they didn't mail them out - and now there isn't any one there to toss em in the mail or allow for curb side pickup...cause I live 20 minutes away. Frusssstttrraaattiioonnnn! So much for that first time customer 'test' in grading alternatives.
  22. Thanks Jennifer, I'll do that for my next order and stop making a millions posts here about updates
  23. Well, I think I'll share a little preview with you all today because I'm super bored. I love buying coverless golden age books and getting new covers made (cause that is often the only way I'll ever afford them), and if I feel that the original covers did not do the comic justice I would commission new art (My first such project was World's Finest #3 to now feature the first appearance of Scarecrow. You can see that here) My next project that is currently being printed is for Mystic Comics #5. This issue features a slew of first appearances, including that of Black Marvel and The Terror, but also another favourite of mine; The Blazing Skull. The Blazing Skull would only appear in five total stories and had zero cover appearances in the Golden Age (he would however resurface in many more modern stories). I felt he deserved a proper cover appearance but didn't want to completely change the original iconic Mystic cover. This one didn't require a new artist to be commissioned, rather I could just do it myself easily enough. So while I wait for it to be printed (as well as a few other reproduction covers) here is my Mystic Comics #5 preview:
