  1. A number over 7,266 - that is all one can say with any honest certainty without having any additional, new information directly from the publisher & print house.
  2. Yeah - that's the number shipped to retailers in the United States and Canada. (So often many confuse actual # printed and monthly sales data which comes from comic book distributors specifically only counting comics shops in North America. Then you get articles written without sources using that number as a hard and fast 'fact' when discussing print runs and it basically becomes 'common knowledge'. We don't KNOW the exact amount, it's not like TMNT #1 where the creators themselves personally confirmed the exact amount they had printed and offered for sale total. The number is over 8,000 for WD when you factor in worldwide numbers at the very least)
  3. Browsing the registries I noticed something that could be done to add a little more consistency (and variety) between similar sets. This just might be my own biased preference though, but figured I would toss it out there: Right now there is an Amazing Spider-Man #1-#25 set which allows people to collect a smaller collection rather than the typical #1-#100 set also available. All the similar series have a 1-100 set as well, but the only smaller set like this for another series is X-Men (1963) #1-#66, and it would be nice if such mini-runs could be made for other similar series. A run of 1-25 could work in all cases, but may I suggest the following which addresses certain key 'runs' in those books: For example: Iron Man #1-#10 (That covers the issues with the original flat title style, #11 onwards changed to a 3D drawn title.) Avengers #1-15 (This covers the issues with the ORIGINAL Avengers team. #16 saw the first team roster change, which might not be what many want to collect) Hello @Sauce Dog, Thank you for your feedback. We are happy to honor requests for smaller runs of popular titles, characters, etc. Please note that we want to limit repetitive sets and want to make sure that the requested sets are deemed to be popular among collectors. If you have a particular set, please create a new request in the thread and it will be added in the order by which it is received.
  4. In the expanded universe he lived after being swallowed by sarlacc, and was rescued by another bounty hunter ally, Dengar. Pretty much was canon and all fans went with this for decades, so him being alive isn't much of a surprise to many of us (though I'm sure they will change the explanation of how he got out of there.)
  5. This could be from many factors, not all from a shared opinion (which you won't share for some reason) - including the show itself being as formulaic and repetitive as the comics were after a few volumes. All shows that exist for so many seasons see such a drop off, with only the most devoted fanbase sticking around (Supernatural comes to mind). The comic value itself might have just been inflated by the earlier popular series, and now is seeing the price stabilize (though I'm sure it will see some long term growth, especially towards the end of the series and eventual revival as most shows have at one point or another).
  6. so what's the reason/agenda? (I mean specifically, not just some vague catch-all term like it being 'too PC')
  7. Thanks for the clarification Matt! I have seen other companies and vendors often give coverless (yet otherwise complete) books a 0.3 grade, are there any thoughts by CGC to implementing such a grade point (as a comic book is far more than just its cover - especially epic golden age books). Has CGC ever written anywhere about why they don't grade issues with missing covers in such a way (I'm really curious about this). Thanks again!
  8. I was curious if NG are applied to the registry and if so do they provide any points? As for many epic older sets I could see obtaining an incomplete (or coverless) copy of a book being the only way many collectors could ever get their hands on an issue for their collection. Be it battered copies of early very Detective Comics or coverless Action Comics 1 etc...this does give some of us the smallest hope of completing a grail set. If they are not currently accounted for the the registry, would it be possible to give such items a blanket base score (perhaps just 1 even, as that would still actually make a difference in some cases), as I feel anything actually paid to be authenticated, encapsulated and registered with a barcode though CGC should be worth something on the registry (even though CGC themselves don't list any NG/PG/CVR data in the census - though I'm specifically talking about No Grade books and not individual pages or cover wrap parts).
  9. I love this issue - but not worth grading. There are lots of high grade copies of this book (8.5 and up), but would only really be desirable if you could hit 9.6 for it - and much of the desire of this issue is how it presents, which this mis-wrap would be a very big strike against it competing with other books in similar grade.
  10. Can I suggest one update: The Strange Stories From Another World (1952) set has the issues #2-#5, and while there wasn't a #1 with that exact name, the very first issue in the series is "Unknown World" #1 (1952) which was then renamed due to legal issues to 'Strange Stories From Another World" for issue 2. This makes sense as even the TPB/Hardcover pre-code classic editions includes this issue as #1 and so the set isn't complete without that issue. Slot Created. Thank you
  11. Would it be possible to add a set for: Taskmaster (2002) - #1-4 limited series, as well as Taskmaster vol. 2 #1–4 (2010–2011). Basically, if this is added I can convince my collector friend to go full crazy into the registry if his favourite series are now competitive sets Sets Created. Thank you
  12. I think you should just sell it to me so the two copies can live in harmony together
  13. Here ya go. Ignore all those random circle/dots you see - those are air bubbles from a not-perfectly-applied UV blocking sticker on the case (usually not visible, but didn't have time to do a proper photoshoot right now) More pics inside the spoiler to keep things tidy:
  14. This looks very close to my copy which is CGC graded 5.0, however yours has a few more issues that makes me think it will cap out at 4.0 (4.5 if those dents can be pressed out though)
  15. I have found that they are very comparable. I've switched to using the competitor for cheaper books I might have otherwise not gotten graded by CGC due to costs (rates, shipping and custom fees), especially since their drop off location is near me in Canada so it is super easy (whereas the LCS I was using for CGC has been so problematic, combined with CGC's customer service on the matter, it really soured me on the idea of that process. I do have my own CGC account now, though prefer to limit submissions to big books that I send to Mike at Hero Restoration). What I have noticed is that of the two I've found more books come back slightly higher from CGC than I expected (especially older Golden Age stuff), whereas the opposite is the case for Voldy's (not a big major grade difference, but what it has done is raise my confidence in buying those slabbed books on the secondary market). More competition is excellent for everyone, though Voldy needs to get their act together regarding their god-awful website forums and lack of census (biggest issues right there - but the good news is that is all software based and just requires time/money to address) UPDATE: Speak of the devil and they shall appear - They just added census registry to their site. Looks like it still needs some work but I like how you can get the exact details for every issue graded (page quality, images, etc). Noice.
  16. All except the one I sent for grading which has been sitting in a shipping warehouse for months now due to delays + now the lock pandemic down - one day my first copy will arrive! (and then I'll promptly sell it...maybe...or start a hoard...maybe)
  17. Heap has been incorporated into DC's Swamp Thing canon, as he appears to part of the parliament of trees (As per the amazing Alan Moore run). For the rest of these heroes I strongly recommend checking out the Project Superpowers limited series published by Dynamite Entertainment. Lots of amazing art and great use of many classic characters, such as the Fighting Yank.
  18. In my decades of web development I can say there has never been a legal issue to keep a website code/design offline, only technological barriers. It could be as simple as they didn't back it up correctly, or it was coded on a foundation so deprecated that it would take much work to get it back up and running on an updated modern host. Either way, they screwed the pooch on how it was developed, tested, and launched.
  19. 5.5 but looks amazing! (has this been trimmed?)
  20. Yeah, its such a garbage mess of a site, and it's perfectly clear they consulted no actual users for usability tests prior to launching. I won't use them at all now (or metropolis, which is a shame as I've had good dealings with them in the past for buying random Golden Age stuff)
  21. He totally can do that, as he offers a few levels of pre-screen service. The basic screen: Pre-screen for a minimum grade is $2 per book. (Can be screened for any grade). For example if you want to know which books are 9.0 or higher. He can also do a Full Grading pre-screening service for $4 per book. (For when you want more than a screen for minimum) Includes graders notes. For example, if you want to know the grades of your books and exactly what is impacting their condition.
  22. This here is maybe the cheapest and most accessible option (you can find it at many local craft stores). I use that same Lineco 1 Inch X 98 Feet. tape on some old extremely damaged comics to hold them together, it is very easy to remove if you want to reverse the 'restoration' (though I would avoid applying it to brittle or other low quality areas that are flaking, and always use the smallest amount possible - like cutting small hinges)
