  1. Apologies if I'm behind, but Hellgrammite has also been announced (although I'd like to see who's the first to lose his money hoarding that particular first... Edit: Brave and the Bold 80) http://www.ew.com/article/2015/08/14/supergirl-hellgrammite-justice-leak
  2. Not Kirby's best work, in my opinion. Strongly disliked his Captain Americas a year or two earlier, and didn't think much of his clunky dialogue on this. I know there are some pretty splash pages in the title, but it wasn't good enough to stay in my collection, so I gave it away, and still don't regret it.
  3. Ugh... you made me look up Catspaw and Kid Quantum? Bad form, my friend...
  4. I was leaning towards dollar book as well. Is anyone finishing the run, or just buying 1s?
  5. I think the missing part of the equation is singling out creators who write material that's accessible to both women and men. Everyone's making it sound like the character and the creator have to be female to entice female readership, but we're not giving credit to the Neil Gaimans of the world, who can write a work that stands alone as a piece of art that everyone can appreciate. Who else comes to mind?
  6. I don't care for high grade when a pretty mid-grade book will do. I also don't collect things that are so hard to find that I won't like the copy that turns up. I guess it's drek for me.
  7. Tales of Suspense 66 is the origin of the Red Skull. Good choice for your first Silver Age book, I love that one. $6.99 in any shape is a sure thing.
  8. The prices people are paying for "quarter books" these days is just astonishing. If someone had told anyone on the CGC board ten years ago that people would be paying $80 for a raw copy of Suicide Squad #48, the laughter would have gone on for 5 years. There's been someone flushing an incomplete set on Kijiji (craigslist) locally since June, issues 2-47 (no 23), and a couple in the 50's. At least one person knew what to pull out... All the same, that's a disgusting price.
  9. Same old song, get a new line already. Making money is fine, but both parties should benefit. If you walk away from a deal knowing you fleeced someone, you shouldn't have done it. Capitalism says that's okay, but these are $5 funny books. Have a heart. Just curious, does this thinking apply to dealers and LCS's, people who's business it is to know the product they sell for a living? Your LCS has a NM Preacher 1 for $15 bucks, you gonna pass and tell him it's under priced? I don't tell my bartender they are not charging enough for a shot of Goose, it's their job to know that, it's my job to enjoy the great price on Vodka. Nowhere in this are we talking about selling too cheap. What's happening is that people are over paying for a book like Supergirl 8, where the seller knows the buyer is underwater as soon as he walks away with it. I'm saying the asking price isn't fair, and the seller is treating that buyer like a mark, rather than a valued customer. Long term, everyone loses.

  11. But... the Galactus storyline in 72-75... and the classic covers!
  12. I bought my copy a couple of years ago when I was building my set, and it was all run filler, only the Joker cover sold at a premium. Geoff Johns' JSA was in full swing, and I don't think anyone was concerned what their first appearances were. I only found out when I read it. Longshot, think to yourself: why am I thinking of paying $30 for this book? If you can't come up with anything besides, "It's a key", then wait a year when it comes back down to $10.
  13. Question: with all the talk of Civil War and New Warriors, why isn't Captain Marvel 34. first Nitro getting any heat?
  14. You must have never read Dr. Strange, as Mordo is among the foremost nemesis of Dr. Strange, more or less what Dr. Doom is to the Fantastic Four. Everyone has a favorite Doom story. Does anyone have a classic Baron Mordo story they'd like to share? Anyone? The fact that you are comparing Mordo to Dr. Doom already shows you are biased… And no, I don’t have a classic Dr. Doom story, there are many that I like. Mordo is important for what it represents, more than Dormammu. You compared Mordo to Doom first... I'm out.
  15. Been on my wish list for quite a while. Never been able to land a decent copy for a reasonable price Same here. Been attempting to put together a run for some years now, and I think this one is going to be a climb.
  16. Learn something new every day! I guess I should stop throwing these back when the dealer says, "it's a Canadian..."
  17. As with any foreign edition, I think it's nice to have in addition to the original edition, rather than in lieu of. Since it's a key, I'd price this out the same as you would a pence copy. For any other Canadian Marvel annual, I'd be more inclined to go at half value.

  19. Seriously. Is something wrong with it, or are you just being a grade snob?
  20. In the spirit of community, I say we note this one down in case it happens more often, but let this first one wash and go on with our day.
  21. Why stop at 102? The Inhumans really wind down at 150, the marriage of Crystal and Quicksilver, but the last, best arc finishes at 178, Galactus fighting the High Evolutionary to protect Counter-Earth, then kicking the Frightful Four out of their building when they get back. Why stop at 178??? Why not go to 416??? After that it was all fake with "Hero's Reborn" and the Title starting over, that's were my Son and I got off the bus. Gotta reel them in slowly so they don't fall off the hook
  22. I used to know a girl who slept in a coffin, that's nothing. I wonder how many people scooping up Marvel Premiere 1's as the first "real" Adam Warlock know that story doesn't take place on Earth...
  23. The Keebler drug issue is in the promotional section at the beginning, I don't recognize the orange one.
